Misinterpreted Characters!

Hello forum! This is my first post here, and I hope many more will follow. I've been lurking around this lovely forum for a while now, mainly in the Art and Lore section.One thing I've noticed a lot is that people misinterpret characters a lot. In this section I have mainly noticed Wendy portrayed as, perhaps a young girl at the age of maybe, 15-17.I think that based on how Wendy behaves and talks in-game, that she is at least 20, if not a bit older.She isn't childish or playful, she isn't violent or aggressive.I think, personally, what makes Wendy's character is how numb she is emotionally.She's morbid, a bit dull, and talks as if she's given up all hope on everything.I have to go now, but I think for a first post this'll do. What do you guys think?Is Wendy young and playful or is she a bit older and more numb, morbid, a bit disconnected, if you will?Leave your thoughts, friends.

People like making characters look young, and it usually appeals to a wider audience.For Wendy.. I agree, she's at least 20, just by observing the way she speaks.She's more mature than me; amusingly.Her cheeky references to literature supports it as well.EDIT: She's goth; it's confirmed. <-- I don't know why I'm positive regarding the subject

A lot of other stories have little girls with twisted minds and adultlike behaviors.That's what makes them strange/creepy.Wendy will always be a creepy little girl to me, because I like strange kids with an adult personality.

No way, she's only a child. Her quote is "Abigail Come back! I'm not done playing with you." That's not something a 20 year old says in my books. She also has a bow in her hair which is more typical of a young girl than a young adult. I'd say she's 7-12.

The thing is, it's a game, so I don't think you can apply that logic. I mean, Willow is definitely a child. She's carrying a teddy bear in the portrait. They're all the same size because that's the basic template for the characters. Even Wolfgang is the same size as Wendy or Willow.

With the logic that Willow is clearly a child because she carries a teddy bear, you are calling quite a lot of adults children just because they are fond of a stuffed animal, perhaps since childhood. For me Willow and Wendy are both around 20, Wilson is perhaps, 25-35-ish. Wolfgang is like, maybe.. 40.Also, I doubt children could survive in the wilderness against such vile creatures, and would be able to build all this complex machinery. Noted, it is a game and it makes impossible things possible, but still.

I guess. But it's still pretty unlikely a small child can survive in the wilderness for as long as an adult could.

"Abigail, come back! I'm not done playing with you." Is easily something a grief filled woman who lost her sister could shout out. Let's not forget that Wendy lost her twin sister and twins are generally fairly close. She's clearly traumatized judging by how she reacts to a lot of things, and considering that her sister haunts her I'd say she's fairly likely to say childish things. I don't know for sure but I can imagine traumatized people often look to their childhood for reassurance, to try and feel safe or something. In my mind, Wendy is traumatized and has been through more mental anguish than the other characters.

What gives you the idea she's overcome with grief? She LOVES killing things. Some even think she killed her own sister.OT: Wendy is a little girl loves dead things (or, more specifically, making dead things).

If I was to imagine her as a flesh and blood person I would start looking at the ages between 10 and 14.The younger I picture her the more amusing is her pragmatic personality. Some laugh in face of danger, she stays calm and performs an analysis of the danger in question and suggests the best course of action.But I think the truth is that a lot was left for our imagination to fill and therefore she will be unique for each one.

With the exception of Wickerbottom, it's kind of hard to slap an age on any of the characters. I estimate between 15 and 30 for most, but I tend to think of them as ageless.
