How do you do to continue playing with so many crashes?

Recommended Posts

As the title says, I do not know how other people do to keep playing with so many crashes. Personally, my base of 850+ days has me already very stressed and I have lost all interest to continue playing.

Since I opened the space zone and started to build my protective layer of bunkers, the game collapses at every moment and is extremely annoying.

Before that, I had never tried to do anything in space and in more than 600 hours I had played only collapsed a couple of times (with the bug that caused the game to collapse when liquid chlorine was spilled on the floor), so I do not know if it's just me who suffers with space or is something someone else suffers.

Is there something you avoid doing so that the game does not collapse? I mean, is there a well-known bug that can be avoided?

I want to keep playing, but it's really impossible for me to keep sending 15 crash reports per day.

Thanks in advance.

I've been playing this game for ages and have never got any crash except on beta releases.

Same to me.. only in betas

if you get crashes after building a bunker layer make sure your not building up a stack of regolith into the no-zone of space.  It can cause crashes....

I play version 285039....tonight i will upgrade to 285480 (even if ghives no real advantages from the previous one...) to see if what you said is true or not. I had the wall of regolith in the no build zone from cycle 295...now i am on cycle 735... an NO CRASH until now

I was basically told to get a better pc. My game would often crash on attempted autosave once i got past cycle 1000

My laptop is I3 procesor 2.4 gh, 8 gh ddr3 ram (before was 4) and 1gb  nvidia dedicated video chipset...so... if my laptop play the game (whit a cooling pad) just fine...i don't think this is the issue (last game i stop at 1373 cycle.. and then i had 4 gb ram)

My idea is the way you play the game causes crashes...maybe the rocketry part...this part is still buggy...

Ok, I paid more attention to the moment of the crash, and I noticed that it happens when there is a meteor shower and specifically a purple meteor falls on regolith of two meters high.
My bunker layer is in the last available block to build and over it two regolith blocks are acomulated at most.
Do you know any of that?
@Kabrute seems to be right.

And no, I had not had any problems before either (5 crashes at most in 500+ hours of play). :(

@Kabrute seems to be right.

As i said... i prefer to test before make any assumption... if you want i can make you printscreen whit my base, my regolith no more wall...but first i need to upgrade to 285480 version, and wait until the crashes begin... if begin....I will edit later if kabrute is right...

Don’t! It’s the crash-y version

@Mr.Trueba I stopped playing.... after crashing million times. Some nights I spent hours saving and loading and crashing and submitting crash report and repeating, and ended up getting PTSD. I won’t play the game anymore until next patch probably. I thought this kinda problem is worth a hotfix. But apparently devs disagree. And I give up.

I am on cycle 752... as you see is the  285480 version... I saved a backup save game for any case....several meteor storm.. included whit blue iron comets smashing everywhere included in the 2 pile of regolith in the no build zone...maybe i am lucky... we will see...when i finish playing i will post my experiment results..

I recreated your observation. I make this print screen just before this iron comet go in the 2 row regolith pile. After this it suppose to crash...we will see in a few seconds.. :)

As you see the regolith is destroyed and the top will fall over it.

As i said. No crash... 13 cycle from my last post and still no crash. Your problem isn't the new version, or the bunker tile wall on the edge of the build area. Your problem is something else...You must find what is that problem. It may be problem whit path finding, too many resources digged, to much liquid... loop automation (like door compressor or drop of sweep arm), or a rocket returning from mission....

Can you post your computer specs? Windows settings -> System -> About -> Device Specs

If you could, and anyone else reading this, use www.userbenchmark.com, run the userbenchmark.exe and post the results. I've been curious about computer specs vs compatibility in ONI. This is my laptop specs: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/11249345

I personally have never encountered a crash outside of known bugs such as deleting ruins objects or making material below -270oC, and my laptop isn't the greatest around. My bases typically reach 600+ before new updates hit and I restart to try the new stuff, so I'm encountering most everything the game has.

Did you install the Preview patch? If yes, it's normal, it's not a demo, it's a version for the players who want help Klei to find bugs and crashs. Espacially, the early version often is really instable.

That partially explains why you have crashing problems, as that machine probably barely meets the minimum specs. Once the game hits full release, it will likely be smoother, but you'll definitely not be able to run the preview versions stably.

That computer is ancient, nearly 15 years old. haha. You could buy a much better one for 50 bucks off ebay.

Don't be sarcastic... maybe he is like me. Until the thing works isn't any reason to change it...If love the game enough now he have the reason to do it. I buy 4 ghz of ram just to play the game a little smoother.

What I said wasn't sarcasm, champ. Regardless, I wasn't making fun of him/her, I was amazed that such an old beast was still functioning.
