MTzu Posted August 23, 2018 Share Posted August 23, 2018 The "repair delivery" errand is managed by the "storage" priority. This does not make sense to me. No wonder my dupes never repaired anything because I always set this to "-2"... I confirmed this by using a new game with a broken NGG where I only activated one priority at a time. The dupe did not repair the NGG when I activated "tidy", which includes the "repair" errand. Only when I activated the "storage" priority, the dupe started to deliver the repair material but still didnt repair the NGG. If I reactivated the "tidy" priority after the delivery, the dupe repaired the NGG. "Storage" should not include anything to do with repairing. The dev should move this errand to "tidy", "supply" or both as they did with constructing for example. RonEmpire Posted August 23, 2018 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I have noticed this as well. Repairing is like never done, I always end up having to deconstruct whatever it is and just rebuild it. Repair needs to be Tidy and the dupes Automatically fetch their own material to fix it. Not depending on another dupe to deliver it. It would explain why the repair is never done. That way you can use the priority numbers and they will actually work even when a job requires multiple/conflicting jobs such as supply & tidy. Sure it´s better to not repair stuff and rebuild it instead. Considering that most people will lower the priority for "storage" tasks, repair tasks will never be done and you don´t waste resources. => The repair task is in a bad spot right now, so some possible fixes could be: - Give us a selection tool like for disinfecting to manually order a repair task to be done - Maybe add the repair delivery task to an other category (Not sure if tidy would be the best fit but anything except storage ...) For handling storage, I set all my storage bins to priority 1 or 2 after I build them, rather than messing with the 'storage' priority globally. In this way I can do things like set polluted dirt bins to a higher priority and they'll clean up the mess quickly. Recently i saw resources being dropped from repaird structures. i didn`t check how many they drop but it`s possible that repair no longer deletes resources. You have a duplicant dedicated to "storage" tasks 2. You have not lower the "storage" priority below everything else 3. babba Posted November 1, 2018 Share Posted November 1, 2018 I havent thought about the repair system for long time. I normally paint priority "9" on to broken parts and they promptly get repaired. But I play with more than 3 dupes and in debug with all needed repair materials in place. The priority system used to nerve me in terms of messing with compactors, but I dont play with compactors anymore. acolyteofrocket Posted November 1, 2018 Share Posted November 1, 2018 Funny, I had a refinery steam blowout, melted the entire ice biome it was situated in, including the granite, and filled the screen with steam and messages reporting constantly damaging equipment. I set everything to priority 1 to stop dupes going in there and waited for it to cool. They still came back to repair the equipment, even while it was being damaged, even while they were being scalded - I had to wall the area off to stop this repair enthusiasm ! My Hydrogen/Oxygen Splitter still needs 30 hours work until it will start service for the first time. Its -50 to -150 celsius in the surroundings, so the dupes permanently are repairing stuff as its freezing cold and no machinery is active ( debug ).
