It really surprised me that Ranching updates had nothing with egg separation mechanics. And that's a vital one. When ordering an omelette, dupes will use ANY egg available. Which means you cannot figure will they use your only plastic drecko egg or your 10 hatchling eggs.

There must be at least some form of egg separation or permission, which should not be, and that is very important, a dozen of Pacu egg omlette, hatchli egg omelette etc because constantly scrolling through cook options is already a tedium.

Yes, this is also my work around. But I feel this is more tedious than it should be. Hopefully the devs will relize this and fix soon. A pop down check box menu of what eggs can be cooked in the grill would be my preferred option.

If my suppliers have no access to container, then they can not put eggs in it. If they have access, then they can steal these eggs for cooking.

you can use conveyors to store the eggs, the ones you want to cook in a kitchen receptacle, the ones for ranching in a locked room that you only unlock at specific times.

still rather annoying to do, i just don't make omelettes.

I store the eggs in an unpowered fridge near the stable, and incubate behind an open door.  This lets me keep mostly adults.  The cooking is done manually -- I use an extra grill and only put in omelets 1 at a time when I have just finished refilling the various incubators and am down to the eggs I want to cook.  I then hammer out 6, and when it's done check it again.

It's very manual.  But for the early/mid game that's fine, and in end-game I could start sweeping and conveying but usually I just restart instead.

have a stable and an egg room locked to everyone except your ranchers.  Egg room has food storage of 8 KG (8 eggs, or less if you keep up with hatching often enough) for each egg type you want to keep separately. Egg room storage has higher priority then a large egg storage in main base.  Ranchers will take eggs and place them until you have 8 in egg room, then all extras go into main base.

Now you have a egg grill in a room with the door that does not allow the ranchers. So everyone else, will grab overflow eggs from main base and drop them in egg grill.

I have a stable design that keeps a backup of eggs, hatches them at a fixed rate to replenish population and only allows excess eggs beyond that to be taken for omelette. All running on automation. The downside is it only reliably runs on shine bug eggs. I'm still working on improving the hatch/slickster version.
