Someone's base at Cycle 600

I chated with this guy. He said he oxygenate the entire map purifing PO from slime. Can this be possible? He swears to me is not debug/sandbox mode. If one can do this at cycle 600 I think it would need insane ammount of dupes and have them in easy mode (no stress and hunger). Sooo much oxygen.

You guys are experts, can this be really done in a normal gameplay? If so, that is sad because is a shame he does not play the way the game is meant to be played.

I recently challenged myself to a game where I only used exosuits for going into hot areas.  I cleared the whole map, with the exception of the oil biome, without using suits.

I can't remember what the cycle count was when I'd cleared it, but it was probably around the 900 cycle mark.

Game now abandoned as it relied heavily on the cooling bug.

As long as you can deal with a few scaldings, and are prepared to leave the super hot areas save for delicate oil probes, you do fine withno exosuits.  I only ever bother for extreme temperatures, having got used to the game before they existed.

I have excavated whole slime biomes w/o exosuits. It takes keeping an eye on health, blocking dupes selectively from entering and being prepared to have a few sick ones. Also, the ones with higher oxygen needs and narcolepsy are really bad for this. I don't see what is supposed to be fishy here.

Also, what is wrong with "playing the game not how it is meant to be played"? Are you a conformist that sees any kind of creativity with "the rules" as bad?

So, if you dont need exosuits, why have them in the game? There are no rules in this game except for the tools the developers intentionally or not made for us. The developers have an idea in mind, a way it is supposed to be, although people and creative "conformist" like you say will always fight the changes and use exploits as much as they can to push the limits of gameplay, because in their minds if it's there, it is valid. But im sure its not how the developers wanted you to play at all. Creativity found those bugs and exploits.

My whole point is that the goal of the game is survive, but since there are some with extratime to spare and have mastered and learned every posibly trick there is, they find no challenge, no objective or clear finish line, and in consequence everything else is easy and casual. For most of players hovewer, some things are hard, like surviving without exosuits.

My inicial question has been answered, I know I have much to learn. but even so...

Please, next time have consideration of people,  as we casual players. There are many layers of depth in ONI, be empathic and learn there are other who may actually consider this game hard. The world does not turn around you. I respect all you know, but don't treat me like a child of a conformist, use the power of knowledgede and free time for good!

As we casual players.

There are lots of things in this game which are in it but have no use. Exo suits are not useless but for slime infestation its manageable, the apothecary is never used (by me anyway) probably cuz i use exo suits

This door swings both ways, please don't assume that someone is not a casual player, also everyones definition of casual is different. Sure there are some who we all know ain't casual but most of the names in this thread either don't speak much, or are like me who speak a tonne

Simple: There is more than one way to do things. There are numerous things in the game you _can_ use to accomplish certain goals, but for most goals there are alternatives, often several. This is not using "exploits" at all, that is by design. And yes, if it is there, it is completely valid to be used unless it is clearly a bug in the code. Excavation without Exosuits is not a bug in the code at all, it is simply an alternate way of doing it with alternate characteristics. I find your attitude that there is a "right way" to play and that the others are wrong and somehow immoral deeply troubling. This game  is not about finding the "one true way the developers envisioned" and then stick to that, this is about being creative and finding solutions, the less conventional the better. The very nature of the game is that of a simulation, not that of a puzzle.

I just laugh when i saw that, with the profil pict.

It's seem's that is important for you to get a good image from another people, but, hey, you speak about a game you are playing at your home...(you can kill your dupe in their bathroom if you want, no one will know about it). No one care about it, only your mum....

wow, you really had to mention my mom in this?

I may have been mistaken about labeling hardcore players, casual players etc. But the fact that some know and understand the game in finer detail than others is true. Most posts I see about complicated automation and design (and even using real physics and science formulaes) just escape my understanding, so I feel safe to assume most in this forum do know a lot more than I do, which was the main purpose of this post, to see if excavating a whole map like that was possible in a normal game.

I do know it can be. So I'll consider this post closed and restrain myself from asking questions again.
