Another one!

"Alright alright boys, this is the big score. That player over there is carryin' around a lot of food-"

"Boss, I don't think that this is a good idea..."

"Shut it, Wester! This is what we do, robbin' from players to feed ourselves. If ya don't like it then starve!"

"He has a point, boss. The player seems to be arming himself with explosives."

"Hey, I got an idea! Let's run over, let him light the bombs, and then run away real fast so he blows himself up!"

The polar-bear plunge...IN REVERSE!

EDIT:  Oh wait maybe I should do a few pictures, this being the screenshot thread 'n' all.  Whoops.

MORE BLUENESS

dancingpalmguard.png.3afe096a04768cf888e0db2ff962185d.png

I finally got this palmguard to calm down and stop attacking _me_, only for him to be rudely awakened by a lightning bolt.  He was not amused, but I was.  He practically started doing the Charleston!  XD

Oh, joy.  Internet, meet my DS-world nemesis; nemesis, meet Internet.  (aka the filename of this one is "EFFINGMONKEYS")

..she gets emo...over COCONUTS.  Get a grip, girl!  Also, I love whenever I manage to capture a shot _just_ as it's going to daytime; you get this freaky lighting you don't quite get any other time.

Last but definitely not least, Jesus Cat SAVES! by finding me a new boat.  And just in time, too--lookit that damage-meter!

Heh, reminds of my misadventures... Sorry, no worthwhile screenshot.

I nearly got boat-rekt by Quacken, (10 health left after the fight, storm-induced waves everywhere), so I placed my pre-crafted rowboat and made haste with the loot. I couldn't carry all of it in 1 trip, so later I went back to pick up the rest. As I'm picking up the stuff with spacebar, my character jumps over on the almost-dead boat just in time to catch a wave... and the game crashes. Epic save :D

But if you insist on a shot, here's another How did I not trip over that treasure all-this-time? situation:

Heh.  That sounds like something I'd definitely do; although I wouldn't have a base that nice in Shipwrecked.  (Actually I rarely have bases that nice at ALL, but under normal (landlubbing) circumstances that's by choice--I tend to make hippie-dippie minimalist bases that leave useful plants where they are--and then just build near THEM.)

Unfortunately I would never get a base that nice in Shipwrecked even if I tried, because I SUUUUUUUCCCCKKK at it.  I have tried, over and over, to get to 100 days under vanilla settings--I mean, Sugarwolf eventually did it, and he's about my skill-level!--but you will never see a single island screenshot from me from after, say, Day 28 at the very most.  It feels like Adventure Mode to me!--in that the world has gone from "coldly uncaring" to "DELIBERATELY out to get you".

Basic supplies are not only scattered farther apart but actively harder/more dangerous to get (you can get conked on the head from EVERY coconut tree and EVERY jungle tree might drop a poisonous snake--whereas in regular Don't Starve, your only danger while chopping is treeguards, and those are relatively rare)--and some of them are even more required than usual, such as wood for boat-building AND so you can stoke the fire 37 times a night during hurricane season.  (Yeah, chiminea...but while I'm scrambling for the materials for THAT, I run out of time to get stuff for umbrellas and lightning rods!)  Want gold?  Okay, but if you do somehow find some, an EFFING MONKEY!!! might grab it.  And just TRY island-hopping during dry season--_you can't make an endo fire to cool down while sailing_.   So you're kinda stuck.  If your home island is out of a critical supply, too bad!  (Not that I've made it that far myself...)

There's treasures around, and new resources, and tons of new food, and awesome new housing, etc. but damned if I ever stick around long enough to ENJOY any of that...

So, Shipwrecked to me feels like Adventure Mode, in that I always make it roughly the same amount of days and then die AT THE SAME DAMN TIME, OVER AND OVER until I despair-quit and go do something else.  (Not rage-quit--this is a "What's the _point_ anymore..." kind of deal.)  As such, I probably SHOULD learn to carry pre-made-but-not-placed boats with me, as that is also a thing I do in Adventure Mode, due to the scarcer supplies.  But I don't, so that "Hey free raft!" moment was genuinely amazing.  I do take screenshots, for the novelty and the chance to make snarky comments, but, seriously--none of them have a date in the corner after the 20s'.

I _have_ had the occasional last-minute clever Robinson Crusoe-style save, which is fun.  Like the time I got stuck with a dead boat on a tiny island that had NOTHING in the middle of NOWHERE.  I mean, it didn't even have trees. The _only_ thing that saved me was that I had three coconuts in my inventory that, for some reason, I had not cut in half or cooked yet.  I had to GROW my own boat materials and just _barely_ didn't starve to death while doing it.

...then I died anyway, I forget from what.  But not until AFTER I made it off that island, dammit.  : P

To cheer things up a little after all that complaining, have a Boat Cat:

What kills you, @CaptainChaotica? "No shots post day 28" -> Sealnado and associated mayhem (nightmares, darkness)?

I'm not on boat with single-player's merciless perma-death, coupled with "let's send a sealnado your way, in the middle of a stormy night" as the first big challenge (This game, I got ~8 crocs in my third wave, which I don't think is normal). My thinking is, "gitting gud" requires practice, and that's hardly possible when sealnado takes 30 days to spawn, makes a mess of anything that isn't bolted down or in a chest, and can suck you in and likely kill you from off-screen.

Taking the testing-in-production mantra to heart, I shamelessly use Don't Erase My Saveslot, which is basically 1-snapshot rollback for DS, and I'm guessing that's why my game crashed.

Oh, and something for @crystal_clodet:
Apparently, talking to yourself does count as "socialising"...

Usually insanity/coldness/not having a lightning rod in time, I think.  Poison can kill me off a lot as well but that can happen ANY day.  It's just...like I said, it feels like Adventure Mode level of difficulty.  It's not just more variety and new stuff to do, but everything is just that one notch _meaner_ and more constant.

(Not THE Constant, although it probably is part of that as well.)  I think I just...need to get Better at Video Games, in general.  But MAN do additions like poison, wind, travelling in and of itself possibly killing you, and thieving monkeys really ruin my day.  And trolling coconut trees.  I'd rather have a million trolly cherry trees that merely drop their fruit in the _ocean_ than these "LOL I HIT U" things.  : P

Also picture.

I remember, one time (WAY long ago, like before the A New Reign beta and such) Bearger showed up smack at the beginning of the second fall--which I was not used to yet.  So, as I was floundering away from base trying to keep his attention on me and off my stuff, I was actually _grateful_ when suddenly one of his attacks pissed off a birch tree.

Normally those things are just SO ANNOYING, but I was sitting there cheering it on as it smacked the Bearger with root-tentacles, nibbled him with Birchnutters...and of course immediately died to another ground-pound (as did all the other trees around it).  But it made the Bearger forget about me! and just wander off.  So later on I put a sign next to the stump saying "The Tomb of the Unknown Birchguard".  Heh.

Anyway.

Well, it's not Hamlet, but this is a pretty thriving (and diverse) pig city here!  I think this was a set-piece on my desert world?  Whatever it is, it's probably also about to be on fire, because summer.

HI CLIMATE CHANGE!  (waves)  Actually no, this is a Megarandom world being...itself.  But whenever I see stuff like snow on a palm tree I always think of the Genesis Planet from Star Trek 3...

Hey, kitty, let's jump into a random water hole in the middle of the winter!  YEAH!

wigfridunderthewaves.png.13e322e13b704105f1f4a0699d32eb96.png

Under da sea...  This and the previous picture are from the "Creeps in the Deeps" mod, a HUGE ambitious project on the same level as the now-sadly-defunct "Up and Away" mod, both for regular Don't Starve.  I haven't yet managed to DO much under the waves, but it's still interesting.  Also, thanks to another mod: underwater kittybutt.  :D

Is the water really that cold or why did they jump straight into the magma? Did they need a warm up?

Next Level incoming:

20180813170154_1.jpg

It looks like their base spawned next to... some kind of a sweatbath.

20180813170314_1.jpg

Do they enjoy their new location? Well, at least they keep moving into the Magma and sliding away as soon as they're... warm enough.

20180813170222_1.jpg

Don't swim too long in the Magma, else you'll get some kind of a sunburn, just like the brown Pengull in the next picture. If he lies on his back and his mouth is opened, does it mean that he enjoys the heat?

20180813171503_1.jpg

That's the way how real pengull brownies are made. The Dragonfly is either really confused or enjoys their acting.
