Are drop rates still doubled?

More than doubled actually. During the Winter's Feast event, all common drops have been replaced with the Classic Curios Chest, and Classy drops have been replaced with the Winter's Feast Chest, which each contain 4 items.

Can we get Spiffy drops replaced with Pugna chests?

if that's the case, then something went wrong on my end.
Because yesterday I indeed got 2 Classic Curios Chest and today got "Grumpy Bearger" background instead of chest :(
I kinda wish I had chest instead of "that" distinguished...

Your drop was higher than a Classy, so that's why you got one of the Distinguished items instead of a chest, so it's working as intended. If you don't like the background, you should be able to unravel it for enough spool to get a few of the common/classy items that you likely would have got out of the chest.

If I'm right, common drops are replaced by Curio Chests, therefore if you would get a common, you get 4 event items instead while all other drops are normal. Tho I don't know if event items come in normal drops as well, or only in the chests?
