Mencken
I drag them both around the wilderness (usually with a small number of blow darts). They clear trees, petrified forests and a few spider nests. After a day or two they die and I clean up. I did lure Deerklops to dragonfly but that didn't work to well, the dragonfly kept respawning at full strength. disies
I use both Bearger and Clopsi for chopping trees and let them fight the treeguards that spawn. Today I want to clear out some of my swamp with Clopsi (need tentacle spots as wicker) c: First I check out where tentacles are and put down signs since Clopsi likes destroying structeres. Yuuko
I hadn't really done this before, but I did get dragon fly to take out 2 Goose Goose in a spring, and then someone pointed out that I could plant a forest and make them level it for easy logs. I'm definitely focused on putting these guys to work now lol Good stuff ^_^ I don't know about how to make d-fly fight other bosses. Vixrotre
Every time in trying to get treeguards for a giant they're so freaking lucky. Bearger usually destroys over a half of the biggest forest on map before a single treeguard spawns. One time he destroyed like 60% of the forest before he spawned two guards. And they were the tiniest baby guards I've seen in DST. Me and wife were laughing through tears. Meanwhile everytime I chop down a single tree in a bigger forest area I spawn 1-3 treeguards almost every single time. I actually started using treeguards for fighting when I was too lazy to deal with them myself. Everytime a treeguard or two spawned when I was chopping wood I lead them to an area away from my tree farm, I planted trees there to pacify my treeguards and they stayed. After a while I had a good collection of treeguards and you know the rest : ) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77800-deerklops-and-bearger-make-them-work/#findComment-909156 Share on other sites
Rellimarual
Deerclops is pretty good if you can get him to fight the Bee Queen. He can't kill her but he can take a lot of her HP and he freezes the grumblebees with one swipe, which keeps them out of the action without prompting her to summon more. In my case, theres already 20 rabbit hutchs around the giant beehive, so it can't work for me. Speaking of chopping trees with giants, a week ago, I saw some youtuber having a bug. The Bearger went through the forest, destroyed all the trees, but only stumps were left, no log. Couple days after, I did not notice at first, but the same happened to me ; I lost a lot of wood and pinecones because of that. Heard of that bug? Bearger just doesn't give tree loot from trees by walking on them, he does it by attacking them. Through both his swipes and his ground pound, that's how you get the tree loot. Just get him to hit you while standing next to some trees, scoot a bit before his giant FIERY FIST O' PAIN hits you, and bam, tree loot. Rellimarual
I saw the same video and face palmed myself for not noticing this after so many hours in game! Beaver pulverizes the logs, I guess, leaving only stumps. It's harder to get Deerclops to knock trees down, but when he does, he leaves more lumber behind. Karmattack
I never got why Deerclops shows up in your first winter if the MooseGoose doesn't show up in your first spring and Bearger doesn't show up in your first fall. Or if they do I've never seen it. Deerclops is considered a Giant right? Yuuko
MooseGoose can appear in your first spring, but there is no Bearger in your first fall. Probably because it is the very first season though... Gotta give you at least 1 season to prep. I heard another difference between bearger and deerclopse is that deerclopse doesn't leave stumps behind, but bearger does - is that true? I've never paid attention lol. (Not that I would) This is one of the things I really wouldn't care if it was removed, much like the lantern+cane glitch or the glitched poison birchnuts and fire farms. Sure I used all these things, but at the end of the day, I really don't care that it was removed. Besides, we got the stalker for easy tree removal now with the thurible. Slap that big boned baby down and put on your beequeen hat and have fun leveling entire forests worth of trees in the cave. And since I'm pretty positive they still spawn down there, treeguards can wipe him out when you're done. If you got bearger on day 7, a lot of people would be unhappy. Yes, I'm aware it's possible to prep in time for him like that. But that'd just be ridiclious for both new players and casual players. I can see lots of worlds just turning bearger off in that instance. (Not that his drop loot is anything amazing, and it tends to pile up if you play for too long as it doesn't truly have much use as the insulated pack still needs a buff and the hibernation vest is really only good for exploring caves in winter if you don't want a backpack, so) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77800-deerklops-and-bearger-make-them-work/#findComment-909541 Share on other sites

Sometimes you even get multiple of them in the same spot! 17 minutes ago, Weirdobob said: 1: Burger's hitbox at which he can demolish trees by walking on them is considerably larger than deerclops, who's hitbox from breaking trees via walking is pitifully small 2: Burger is also much faster than deerclops To be honest, the fact alone that you can use these things intended to be big threats as jokes intended for getting resources faster is a lil' cheesy to me, but I use them for it too, so I can't really fault anyone here. Since you can have him hit and stomp the trees for loot, the only difference is time invested to do this, so, him stomping through and not giving loot does seem like a bug that needs fixing. Although yes, it is quite cheesey. The stumps you need to dig up afterwards, unless you're Maxwell of course, are a pain though. I guess you can simply light them on fire to save time and such. May be get some ashes along the way too! Stalker does make things more convenient in terms of wood, and is intended to be this way, however him doing the "in pain" or "pick up arm" animations do delay the chopping a bit (considering that and the amount of wood you need later on for things and the grind that goes into chopping down trees late-game, I'd say this isn't as big of an exploit. With bearger and deerclops, it's a bit different, since they're both better choppers with shorter delays and one of which can be encountered pretty early in the game). Bearger actually demolishes trees, full with sound and particle effect, when he walks on them. Wheras deerclops "chops" them, causing the tree itself to fall over, complete with chopping sound. Burgerbear's attacks do the same. Or just send in my girlfriend @Mezukie to clean it up after you lure giants around to die to treeguards (She's amazing) Psst. I'm not, if you do think I'm messing with you, then maybe I am, and I'm just so good at it that not even I know I am. If this is somehow getting to you though, take a step back and look at my posts from another angle I guess, because I'd never do something so blatantly stupid as trying to pick at people on such heavily moderated forums. CaptainChaotica
Heh! While I'm usually too far away from a proper forest/have bad luck spawning treeguards when Deerclops and/or Bearger attack, I do get them to be useful sometimes. For example, just recently I got the Bearger to fight hounds for me. ...and he did it SO FAST I didn't even have time to snap the picture before they were already all dead! But you get the idea. This is the same Bearger who took offense to the Spring Giant making her nest right near his original hibernation spot last year; I've just been leaving him there this whole time. After this shot, I ran home by lighter-light and let him have the monster meat. He'd earned it. (And no, I don't normally just let other creatures fight hounds for me...this far into the game, normally I'd have a huge tooth-trap field set up. And I do!--at home, which I was nowhere near when I started hearing the hound-sounds. But on the way BACK there I happened to see the Bearger and--lightbulb!) There's also that time I was wandering the desert in winter, as you do (picking tumbleweeds for grass, cactus for food, etc.) and suddenly HHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUHHHHHH ...right when I came within sight of lava pools. I didn't actually get to _see_ what happened next as it was the dead of night, but I do know that (a) the Deerclops didn't follow me back to camp and (b) it was GLORIOUS. ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77800-deerklops-and-bearger-make-them-work/#findComment-909673 Share on other sites
csc_unit
Well I just retried it with the wandering "Burger". He did not stomped on any fully grown tree, instead I made him fist them all. I made a shnit load of wood. It is a bit more trickier to bait all of his attack. It is actually exactly like fighting him. Anyways, This is me thanking him for his very hard work. Lets hope the smell doesn't wake him up ;P Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77800-deerklops-and-bearger-make-them-work/#findComment-909689 Share on other sites
