Favorite season song in DST

Recommended Posts

Yeah cause why not.

Which season's song do u like? Say the season snd the condition.

I myself like Winter work, Ruin work and Spring work and fight. Especially the spring ones because whenever the game plays it i just wanna shake my body with it, It's fun.

What about you? :)

Season song? So we're choosing from the list below...

"Spring Cleaning"
"Spring into a Fight"
"Summer Jobs"
"Summer Showdown"
"Summertime and the Fighting Is Easy"
"The Epic Fight Song of Winter"
"Winter's Alright for Fighting"
"Working through Winter"

Well, for me, choosing is hard. My favourite season in DST is winter (seconded by autumn, because you can do anything in autumn), so "The Epic Fight Song of Winter" is quite climatic. I tend to hear "Winter's Alright for Fighting" very often since I heavily rely on animals for food (who doesn't, especially in winter? I love jerky). "Spring Cleaning" is fine too. Even though it usually means I'm about to get frogs on my head after already having to run about with an umbrella since my characters are rather prone to freezing. "Spring into a Fight" is a good giveaway of cleaning to be done, actually.

In fact, if I was to choose my favourite song in general, I would be torn between the classic "Ragtime", "Danger" and the main theme. Toadstool's theme is fun too.

I would probably say one from shipwrecked, that music its just amazing. But i think i'll say summer jobs because it ambients really well the feeling of chooping that tree which gives you a shade that would probably keep you alive.

I love Summer Jobs as well. Every time I had to do chores in the hot sun this summer (IRL), I would remember that song and it to me, it really resonated how I felt working.

Spring songs are great.

I love the Monsoon season work song, though I only ever heard it when I was playing as Willow, which meant my doom was coming.

One of my favorite songs overall would have to be the Original Shipwrecked theme (Unfortunately, I did not have this when it was in the beta, so I only know it exists because of YouTube.):

Oh yeah, I have heard that one!  Don't remember why, but I have.  Hmmm, music...one of my favourite topics in general, + Don't Starve. This should be fun. :D

Let's see...as with many people, I like the insanely bouncy Springtime work/main music, it makes me wanna dance (in the rain. With the frogs probably).  I've seen Let's Players trying out Reign of Giants for the first time going "Whoah!  Why'd you turn that off, game?  That's my jam!" and such.  (laughs)

I kind of like all the music in a way, because they all add to the atmosphere of the season in question and if you know me, you know I love atmospherics.  And I especially like how each season has its own fight music as well, to fit that season's overall style--and the fact that it took me a while to realise that makes me feel even MORE impressed!  Uncovering yet another little detail that Yes, They Did Think Of That.  _And_ their own boss music...  Fall is the standard vanilla "summer" music and the most iconic, probably...winter is chilly and quiet, spring is like "WAKE UP!  IT'S TIME TO MOVE NOW!" and summer cartoonishly bomps the hot sun down on you. I once called it "an evil polka" and my mom agreed.  Hee.

(I use the Dusk and Night Music mod ('cos in spring and winter, dusk and night is easily _most_ of the day, and that can be a LONG, lonely amount of time in near-silence--especially in singleplayer) and even though it's not canon, I've gotta put in a vote for the winter dusk music.  It's sooooo...PREEETTYYY...and also kinda ominous and sad.  It just _works_ with wandering around alone in the dimming light of a frozen winter wasteland scavenging for food, and while it's quite different at first listen, it's still definitely based off of the original winter work-song's melody.  Every time I'm on my server with other people in the winter at some point I'll say "This music is so PRETTY!"...and everyone else looks at me funny 'cos it's a client-side mod only.  : P)

I used to play with that mod too,but it seems like it desactivates the toadstool and the moon base theme.

Hope it gets fixed soon,i liked the idea of music the whole day and how amazing the music was but i just can't say no to these new musics from dst.

Also i hope it gets a shipwrecked version, with new musics for the dusk and night or simply using the same one all day.

Oh really?  I haven't done much (read:...anything, really) with the toadstool or moonbase stuff 'cos (a) I'm too busy surviving to worry about making fancy marble and moonstone stuff and (b) I suck at/am kinda afraid of the caves.  (Everybody's like "Let's go to the caves for the summer!" and I'm like "Yeah...the caves...where the equivalent of the hounds attacks from under your feet and rocks fall every god damn two seconds even though I swear I set that to 'less', and light is a problem _all day long_, and I can never find enough food...yeah, you guys have fun with that!" (refuels fling-o-matic))  It also doesn't help that usually there aren't many players on my server at once, and I'm usually the most experienced one.  With more PEOPLE I might try a toadstool raid, but they'd also have to be competent people.

Back to music, I do believe the Dusk and NIght music mod at least doesn't disable the _normal_ cave theme, so there's that. As for Shipwrecked I wish I could tell you more about the music, but I actually haven't played it much.  My first experiences were very, very, VERY bad ones involving !@#$ing thieving monkeys, insanity, starvation, poison, and being chased off my home base island by five.  FIVE.  Palmguards with infinite range that I couldn't calm down, so I've been a little leery to play it much again.  : P  Anyway, if there was a Shipwrecked version of that mod (and why not?) I would probably want it to be quieter, duskier/nightier remixes of the main song instead of just playing the same one all day, to emphasise the fact that the time of day has changed and fit the atmospherics. But, that's just me.

And although it's not a _seasonal_ music, I am soooo glad that the Together starting screen brought back that wonderfully ominous, carnivally, bompy dark waltz of a song from the original vanilla version!  If it wasn't for that, that song might be gone from the game forever and it is _so iconic_.

EDIT:  Who knew the ragtime music could sound so oddly appropriate on guitar...?

The main base of my actual dst world is on the caves, about the earthquakes you can use a slurper armor to hide and the rocks will do no damage to you and they are also an infinite source of marble, gems, rocks and gold.Which helps a lot with the next step of the caves, bunnymen.

Just try to make a base on one of those lights from the ceiling and near a bunnymen village.next step is wall the arena and then just give a carrot to a bunnymen and make them attack each other. The rocks from the earthquakes will help you make tons of live giving amulets for when you fail at doing the attack animation without hitting the bunnymen in order to make them fight. so then you'll have an infinite source of carrots and cannibalism Nice rabbit food:).

For lights you just need to find one of those brown areas that are usually before the ruins which will have ton of lightbulbs and glow berries for the moogles.

and about the worms just make more bunny hutches and they'll help you take care of the worms, also they take twice the time to spawn than the hounds, and there are no fire worms or anything like that. The caves are the perfect place to make kilometres of farms, crock pots, bee boxes and drying racks like back at the normal ds.

Also the bunnymen tails will be good to make fur rolls to keep the sanity up,or you can also use mushrooms which are abundant on caves.

I have the same problem of not having much people joining to defeat toadstool :( but you can kill him easily with more bunnymen hutches, golden axes and weather pains. Also you dont need 6 playes to kill him, just one more player and while one is focusing on chooping the other can kill the toadstool,Specially if its a woodie.       Hope you have a better luck next time you try the caves!

Back to the topic, writing this remembered me about the ruins music. I think most of it has been deleted on dst because of the caves and the ruins connecting, but its really nice how stunning, loud, epic and creepy it is at the same time. It also has a sound that seems to be made of people, which is curious remembering that it is about a lost civilitation.

This music is not in game, but they are still on the soundtrack and are some of my faborite musics in the game

They are the musics used on the updates videos by klei,Probably my faborite musics on the game:

Creepy forest and D.R style. Also i think there is a remix of the last one on invisible inc

YES, in fact, I was also about to vote for that one!  (What does EFS stand for anyway? Epic Fighting Song?)  I like all the boss musics for their drama, but the summer one has this kind of...out-of-control bonkersness that puts it over the top for me.

And also yes to the spring work music.  I'm pretty predictable--I like the catchy ones.  (The winter dusk music is slow and beautiful, but again--mod.)

If I knew more about the Shipwrecked music I'd list my preferences on that here, but I haven't played that in quite a while.

Wow, I actually had to go onto the wiki to listen to these again. I hear these so frequently ingame that I've unfortunately started to tune them out.

Anyway, I think my favorite would have to be spring cleaning. It's a rather cheery and peppy song in a dark and twisted world that wants your very existence to end. Very fitting for this game.

I like all the work songs, but I have to favour Spring Cleaning as well.

Closely followed by the Hurricane season work theme. Working like a Hurricane I believe its called.

I also like Sailing the Seas of DS. That's the regular sailing tune right? It really captures the mood.

For EFS's, I have to go with the spring one as well. I forgot what this one's called.

But my absolute favourite is Ragtime  Hoedown. I never play as Woodie, but this tune always makes me bounce in my seat.

Yes, Ashkain!  That's pretty much what the summer music reminds me of too...only you worded it better. But yeah.  It sounds like something out of a cartoon--the type of cartoon where a good smell pulls characters towards it by their nose and to show that it's a hot day, things held in the hand melt or flop over, hair falls down limp, etc.  That level of exaggeration.

Summer Showdown all day long. If I were to choose a second, it would probably be Working Through Winter. And that reminds me; does anyone know if there is a planned ROG soundtrack for sale anywhere? I'd love to get it

RoG's OST is included if you buy the OST on steam.
