Guest Posted October 19, 2016 Share Posted October 19, 2016 This is not a hate-campeign thread, just out of cultural interest: With Disney China changing the Huanted Mansion to Magic Manor and the cinemas in China not allowing ghost related films into their country, does the same apply to games? I'm very curious if Abigail is given a pass and is allowed into the game. My father brought up the ghost-censorship laws in a conversation today, just curious. So if you ask me, Tencent has no business with Abigail etc. They cannot change the game. They cannot dig in the code. There ARE known cases of countries getting censored translations (shudders), but actually changing the code would be infringement since they are not Klei. They can sell the game as is or not at all. If it's a problem for the tencent platform, just color all the Ghost sprites Black instead of White and say they're "Shadows" of people. Would still fit DST's theme. Disney did that with the Haunted Mansion. Changing the plot where a monkey released magic out of a treasure chest, explaining the "magic" when the American versions is just a hotel for ghosts. Unfortunately, we won't be able to use the skins since the character is Tencent exclusive, but we will be able to look at the skin and cry. Coming next : Salad Furnace and Charlie exclusive to Tencent platform, they will say that we have Scaled Furnace and Maxwell instead.
