Hasn't it been a long journey?

Recommended Posts

I was just watching some of the old update videos on YouTube; remarking about how long ago that those updates were going to come out; with that shadow Wilson in the bottom left corner telling us how long we have to wait until we got some new characters, enemies and items in this game. Here we are in 2016!

It's been amazing that this community has grown from strength to strength in over 3 years for Don't Starve; from it's full release, the addition of Caves and it's first DLC; Reign of Giants and I look forward to what comes next; the full release of Shipwrecked, Through the Ages for Don't Starve Together (remember when that was announced; the massive split in the forum (I will admit that Don't Starve Together has grown on me)) and who knows what else in the future!

So I look forward to be here in the next 3 years and hope that you will all be here with me!

I'm not always so active here but I have been in the fandom since fall 2013! It has come a long way! My favorite part of it all is how accessible Klei is with suggestions, feedback, and just general conversation about the game. Good job guys! Here's to more success!

Ohh remind me i did the same recently but i also get reminded on how the game looked when going through my old screenshots of it

As a small example

This is one of my earliest screenshots right when the game came out on Steam and now compare that to the game we got today it's like night and day.

I've seen some videos of DS in its early stages but never actually played it. Still, I love the game today and look forward to what they come up with in the future (I especially like the trailers and little animated moments they have of the characters ^_^)

Oh gosh, I'm remembering when food didn't spoil and islands were round circles connected by long bridges... I kept the same world generated all the time because the world I had had beefalo and a forest in the second island. I would burn all the trees down for charcoal and to kill all the spiders and just stay there and farm forever until I died. No rot, so I had chests and chests of berries and only made stuffed eggplant because I thought it looked the coolest. Boy was I completely clueless about the game!

One of my favorite things about video games is that at some point, it becomes less of something you play and more of something you remember. Years from now, I'll remember Don't Starve for getting me through some tough times, and for inspiring me to grow a beard (one day...). There's never been a moment where I wasn't delighted by this game, and I'm confident that will never change.

Food didn't spoil? Now that's be a nice mod -_- Atleast this game has achieved a level of realism.

Trust me the current system is way better i like to refer to my old screenshot again where i had 27 cooked Morsel so basicly starving was a noneissue back then because you could easily stockpile chest and chest full of food making the title of the gamne pretty pointless.

Nowadays i still can stockpile food a bit but i have to make plans on what to do with it (well except my Monstermeat because i always end up with more then i ever need). Basicly it was a mess in terms of balance and spoiling added a well needed mechanic against stockpiling.

Well you can make meet balls and monster jerky if you have a crock pot and a drying rack. For the meat balls, just use one meat instead of two but honestly, I get too much monster meat too sometimes -_-

*points silently at the snakes in Shipwrecked*

And yeah the Crockpot and Drying rack is basicly what i use Monster Meat for most of the time. That or i turn it into gold through a Birdcage (give the Bird Cooked Monster Meat get Egg give Egg to Pig King get fat loot).

Hah, remember when chests costed 4 boards to craft and only had 6 slots to store stuff in?

Precious.

Remember when the magic icon was a pentagram?

Also remember how bee boxes were bugged and wouldn't count how many of its bees are outside so every time you entered your world they would dupe. That was nothing compared to today's rock lobster invasions.

I also remember a weird spot in my worlds where items would despawn. Amulets that were used, darts that were used, manure(from beefalo I guess) would gather up in a pile and I could re-use them.

And when the winter update came out, everyone was on RiptidePow's stream for the exclusive try-out.

Remember when Wes was easier to unlock?

My friend was lucky enough to get him through exp.

I have to unlock him via Adventure Mode -_-

I heard he wasn't that good to play as anyway but people still love his character for some reason.
