Everything is cool and all, but qhy did the max health penalty when drowning get removed?

I imagine because typically the punishment for drowning is losing your boat. needing to repair 25% max penalty as well seemed like a tedious add-on.

ok i guess, i just don’t like these small changes which seem insignificant but all together are not.

drowning while hopping from boat to boat is much less annoying now.

Do not know how much health you lose while drown in shallow water, but i would like be able take a bath during summer not only as wurt.

But i still want more max health mechanics (i thought it will be something end-game like planar do wound damage). And more than one normal way to cure yourself: mb with wearing or using life-giving amulet.

Hi everyone, a new beta just released!

This beta features the Lunar quest line.  Please note that the ending to questline is not released in this build, and will be made available in the following weeks during beta.  We wanted to make sure some of the more tech heavy QoL changes, such as controls changes, went out first, to get as much testing time as possible.

Instructions for accessing the beta branch can be found here.  As always, things may be changed or retuned during beta, and we'll be looking for feedback during beta.

Additions

  • Added Wandering Trader, a familiar face.
  • The Grainy Transmission quest line has progressed towards an ending.
    • In this initial release, you will be able to encounter the main phase of the boss fight.
    • The final phase, along with the post victory world events, will be released in the coming weeks.

Quality of Life

  • Added World Progression selection to the Filters tab for the server list browser.
    • This allows you to find servers that have certain objectives completed in the world without having to guess based off of day counts and other indirect signs.
  • Added the ability to peak into Bundled Supplies by using a Razor on it.
  • Added Personal Floater for boat travelers.
  • Creating a correct Odd Skeleton will be guaranteed if there is a nearby Shadow Atrium, regardless of location.
  • Added a new control binding for quick access to your character specific spell wheel.
  • Added new controller scheme options for camera and inventory controls.
    • Frees up a button on controllers that can now be bound to character specific spell wheel.
    • Allows free aiming of reticules such Soul Hop. (Please note that on most items, this feature isn't enabled yet, or the range has not been tuned.)
  • Added Structure Alignment options in the advanced settings.
    • For PC players this feature was well taken care of by mods so this will be useful for controller users for other platforms.

Changes

  • Drowning in the Ocean:
    • Survivors will no longer suffer a maximum health penalty, but instead will take health damage.
      • This does not apply to WX-78.
    • Shallow Ocean areas, such as near the coast and in the Waterlogged biome, will now:
      • Cause fewer items to be washed out of the inventory.
      • Deal less damage to the Survivor.
  • Structures will no longer be blocked during placement for:
    • Birds when they are taking off or are landing.
      • They will still block when they are on the ground.
    • Shadow creatures that go invisible depending on sanity.
    • Hutch and Chester.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Encounters list in the Compendium being offset in the UI causing clipping issues.
  • Fixed creatures like the Marotter stealing items from too far away than intended if the target moved away before the animation finished.

Planned for this beta

  • Adding shock (electrocute) states to most creatures.
  • Additional effects of Lunar Hail.
  • Additional worldgen random boon set pieces.
  • Add additional slots to the Drying Rack (if time permits).

Notes for Modders

  • The mod release ID for this patch is R37_LUNAR_CAGE.
  • DROWNING_DAMAGE table fields have been modified for most characters to be HEALTH from HEALTH_PENALTY.
  • Mod priority sorting has been changed to use stringidsorter, which is a string compare function that is platform independent. All priority values will be cast to a number if it is able to otherwise it will return 0.
  • Wortox's CanBlinkFromWithMap and CanBlinkTo function signatures have changed to pass in the Wortox inst as the first parameter.
  • TUNING.ACIDRAIN_ENALBED has been typo fixed to TUNING.ACIDRAIN_ENABLED

This whole update seems ocean based, I am excited to see what is going to happen!

Since marotters were mentioned. I would like very much to be able to construct or "world regen" their dens. Because as of right now they are once they're gone, they're gone. Wildfires or any hostile mobs can exterminate them :(

(kinda wish I could make killer bee hives as well, but I guess that's too much to ask)

That is HUGE, I had a mod on that allowed some aiming with soul hop and other free form reticles on controller, if it works way better then that... :D

i also think it was meant to make the situations where you fall into the ocean because you didn't stick the landing due to no fault of your own less punishing

it's not like drowning is a threat anyways so im not too upset its gone

Short summary:

  • New Boss
    • there a new items, but only kind of get used to further reaching this boss
  • New Wandering Trader NPC
  • New item: Personal Floater used to avoid drowning penalty

And that's all the new content; then for Quality of Life Changes:

  • Drowning Buffs
  • World Progression Filter when Browsing Servers
  • Way to check bundled supplies
  • Structure Alignment/Geometric Placement added (Very nice, but needs a few improvements still in my opinion)
  • Control improvements

What's everyone's thoughts on this update? It's only been 3 months since last update released, but it's felt like ages. Not sure why, as most updates have had 3 month gaps as well, so i guess i was just hungrier than normal for content?

I think the whole no roadmap has made me ultra eager to see new stuff. I'm also confused why they couldn't mention that this update will be quality of life update with a few new additions. Seems like I could have tempered my expectations better, but because it was left so vague, i was confused on why it had to be hush hush.

Thoughts?
