Hi everyone!

:wilson_flower:

I was just looking at some of the Halloween Trinkets and noticed that the Odd Radio looks like Puft from ONI.

I also know that the Alchemy Pod looks like the Printing Pod from ONI.

  • The Halloween Trinkets and Candies added in 2017 are inspired by Klei Entertainment's other games Griftlands, Hot Lava and Oxygen Not Included.
  • The Binoculars, Lone Glove, Snail Scale, and Otherworldly Jawbreaker are references to Griftlands.
  • The Goop Canister, Toy Cobra, Crocodile Toy, and Lava Pepper are references to Hot Lava.
  • The Broken Terrarium, Odd Radio, Broken Hairdryer, and Candy Lice are references to Oxygen Not Included.

    - From the wiki (thank you @Warlockadamm) I goofed and didn't see it lol.

They should add a reference to the Spyglass in Shipwrecked by giving us the exact same thing in DST.....................

another good easter egg would be teleportation mist. Im tired of going around the main island

edit. not an Easter egg per se but chester is inspired by the chest with 50 legs that follows a traveler in the saga Disc World by Terry Pratchett

If you count character quotes there's about a billion. Most of what Wendy says is a reference.

Here is one for Wurt when she examines a salad mander:

I don't know what it actually references, but i know it references to something, i hear people say it alot.

Oh yeah, the Puft skin for Glomglom!

waitwronguniverse.png.8aa2c13ccd84e898ff682d30020634cf.png

...wait, I think we're in the wrong universe. :P
(and the Printing Pod ALSO always kinda reminded me of the Jury-Rigged Portal. Ya know, the beta way of entering the Together Constant.)

If we count character quotes, ohmyGODDESS there are so flipping many. I can't even remember right now, all the older ones I found before. Some random examples that come to mind: When Wilson examines a log ("It's big, it's heavy, it's wood")
--
Webber is apparently a David Bowie fan ("Ashes to ashes, funk to funky" when looking at ashes),
--Wendy has read Lord of the Flies ("It is a sacrifice to The Beast!"--the pig heads on sticks)

--Wigfrid references North mythology in general all over the place.
--And so many more!

And then there's the skins. In addition to old-fashioned stories that would fit with the DS/T universe (Frankenstein, Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, The Little Match Girl, etc.) there's also, I swear, what VERY looks like anime references in the Forge skins (especially the Season 2 ones) and I think Wilson's Winter's Feast outfit is kinda the modern cartoon version of Jack Frost, etc. There's also stuff like the Addams Family, Tim Burton and Edward Gorey in the art style itself, of course.

...Notorious

I think so? I think as soon as it went to Official Release, we had the rose one.
(MAYBE very briefly it was still the Jury-Rigged Portal, but if so, for only like a couple days after Official Release. I do still remember the original twiggy-tree design, so there were some other things that were there for a _second_ and then changed, but technically it wasn't during the beta.)

Spoiler

Mind you, I never actually PLAYED the beta. I just have this ginourmous playlist of all kinds of wacky people trying out Don't Starve Together, and there are a LOT of episodes where they come in through the Jury-Rigged Portal. That thing is good and immortalised, for all to see. A whole bunch of the old beta episodes are also from before we even had the RoG content in Together, too. Sometimes you'll get odd cases where they update the game but the people are still playing an old file, so you get RoG mechanics smashed onto a vanilla world and it turns into this weird Frankensteined version of the game for a bit there. The end of Guude and Millbee's "vanilla" playthrough, for example. That is some weird stuff. ("Hey, you're now overheating by the fire because since it's now considered early 'fall', you would've just come out of the Reign of Giants summer, and...what do you mean this world doesn't HAVE that season? Well, there's still this overheating mechanic I gotta use, so.....")

Or you can see the exact moments the first big This Is A Different Game Now tweaks come in, like "WHAT?! Why am I suddenly taking fire damage? I'm Willow!" or (flat, depressed voice) "Guys....the thermal stone has a percentage on it now..."

Fun stuff. :)
