Strident Trident became kinda powercreeped and became bad

Recommended Posts

I used this for a long time. It had niche before of getting items from the sea, and uprooting kelp, but now even when gnarwhale horns are as easy as ever to get, it's niches are done better by other things. Now Polly Rodgers collects items at the sea, way more efficently and much more easier. Boats are now able to uproot kelp i have been told by shoving them to the side of Land, i was told this was easy to do, but cannons are still able to uproot kelp well.

The strident is left at destroying sea stacks, getting salt and aggroing mobs. The sea stacks are not much of an issue and it is not needed for salt since the cookies are not that bad to deal with. Many ranged weapons can already aggro mobs, so it is probably time this thing got a buff. Make the melee attack do more damage and go beyond 68 damage while on a boat, give it more durability, it should be more than a Spear's and make it worth using as a weapon, add some new utility. It would be nice since it is crab king's only drop besides the altar.

While at it give the crab king a new drop that's worth killing it more than the one time (Ignoring that guy who said they had fun fighting it)

Maybe a material to craft a special bumper that spawns tiny versions of ck's claws to defend/repair the boat?

Crab king should absolutely drop blueprints for a sea yard and claws that require them. Repairs boats and their leaks.

A bumper that has claws on all four sides and grabs enemies and keeps them from moving. Narwhals, sharks, monkey boats, cookie cutters. You can smack them from your boat while they're incapacitated.

Or a staff that summons claws that do the same thing (grab enemies).

An upgraded pinchin winch that automatically destroys the debris and chests it picks up with a good ol claw pinch.

The last thing on my wish list for crab king is buildable sea stack.

You know how Minecraft has a rule that the Poisonous Potato can't be given a use? One of the secret rules of Don't Starve is you can never want to fight Crab King

Once I renamed a poisonous potato as "Delicious-Looking Potato" and gave it to my friend

It has one use, it works with the Wicker fish farms still.

Spoiler

By the time you get all that you most likely already have cannons which do the same thing cheaper. I know, but still... it has one use!

I think the trident should have the theme of an item that changes its function and power depending on the gems you place on it. Much like how the original theme of the boss was.

For once, I wanna have my sea weed farm near my base.

I've always liked the idea of a claw-themed upgrade kit for the pinchin' winch that goes all the way down to the ocean floor... and proceeds to just latch onto the ground and pull REALLY forcefully, and dredge up a whole dang sea stack that proceeds to break the boat and drop the upgrade kit with 10% less durability or something.

I'd much rather a less... Niche item for one of the harder fights in the game, like many have suggested and what a few mods do, give him a blueprint for an item that toggles rain which uses another thing that Crab King should drop whatever they choose that to be.

The cannon does it waaaayyy better, it automatically kills them too.

While on the note of Trident I think it's mostly fine for an item that's main use is utility over damage. It has massive use across the ocean related content and damage isn't exactly something I'd care about when there's Glass Cutters, Darkswords, Brightshade sword and Shadow Reaper. Practically there's MUCH better alternatives...

On the second note I just got an idea that Crab King should give us ability to plant new Wobster dens, either give us the materials to make them or blueprint to make some kinds of sea stacks and wobsters

I already mentioned how it's utility has been outclassed by cheaper and easier options, no reason not to make it a better weapon either.
