Honestly i kind of wish they had just left wormwood alone

Recommended Posts

Not because i hate wormwood, not at all, but IMMEDIATELY after them going “guys we’ll take another look, here’s what we are thinking” people IMMEDIATELY are making multiple threads detailing a whole new re re rework for wormwoods skill tree.

like, we aren’t entitled to any amount of rework, them looking again is super nice.

i guess my point is: stop asking for the moon. They’re not going to overhaul his skill tree, they shuffled some perks and merged like two. Its great that they wanna give it a touchup in response to the upset wormwood mains, but dont expect them to make like 6 brand new perks for him.

i suppose i’m making this because despite wormwood getting a THIRD look at his skilltree, people still arent even trying to be optimistic. Almost no character is perfectly self synergistic.

be a little happy with what we’re getting, which is the removal of a worthless skill and a new bramble husk skill (of unknown content) and the complete reshuffle of the skill tree to make more sense and allow more options.

its cool to want x or y but quit making threads about your wormwood skilltree wishlist.

You’re underestimating how much this has improved his skill tree, with there now only being one entrance skill point it has basically granted him an extra skill point allowing him to invest in both affinities. They also removed fly trap and replaced with a bramble specialist skill as well as combining butterfly friend and bee kind. Finally they also made it so he can now plant moonshrooms in mushroom planters. This is what a lot of people wanted and it has fixed a lot of issues for me personally.

I get what you're saying, it's a fair point.

We definitely don't want to come across as, "Please revise this one last time, great, now I want more!"

I do appreciate the enthusiasm from all my wormwood friends, and it is also wise to take a step back and do some self reflection.

Though I think feedback for when the revised skill tree drops will be needed in case of bugs, not working as intended, etc but that is probably something expected.

I am not at all, it does a lot with little actual changes, but my point was that they’re not doing much on the perk design front - and for good reason. They need to also move on from this set of skill trees to the next update

I do agree with what Guille said, but on the other note, some people really are going another mile on the "feedback/suggestions". So I will wait to see what will be changed within the lines of the tree (values or how some things work), then I will make a post to address what could be changed on a reasonable way. (Ex.: I think that his critters should be able to jump on/off a boat or swim).

But I don't think that it is fair for any character to get an unsatisfying skill tree (and of course, there is a big difference between some OP changes that people asked and normal suggestions).

honestly, the original wormwood skill tree is indeed 10 times weaker than woodie and Wolfgang, which is not fair.

huh? He was always a powerhouse just by his bloom longevity perks and brightshade perks alone

Even as someone in the camp of with the current changes in the preview Wormwood is fine I agree that this is something that needs to happen.

I’m personally not a fan of being able to forcefully feed mobs what is effectively Exlax to make them poop themselves.

To me it just feels like it signifies the DS franchise has gone to literal poop jokes.

I feel similar way but specifically about the entire concept of hostile flares.

I love this guy, he can't win an argument in one thread, so he creates another one called "please stop creating more threads where you express your opinion, because only my opinion matters" xD
It's up to Klei to decide, how many times they rework any content, not up to you.
And players have all the rights to want or dislike things, that's why this forum exists.

Players have rights to want things- sure they do.. but there are “limits” to what the play could, or for that matter SHOULD want.

For example Klei was playing around with the Idea of making Wolfgang get weaker and Weaker the more damage he took from an enemy mob, but had Klei kept this concept they would’ve destroyed what a lot of people even play Wolfgang for… and that’s to deal 2x Damage so things like boss fights are over in Half the time any other character would take.

Same thing goes for Wormwood, there’s limits to what you can want/request before he stops feeling like the WW people who play him enjoy, and more like something that should’ve just been a brand new Lunar Character.

If only Winona and willow got the same enthusiasm.

It was a fight just to get her fire immunity back, and at the time I didn’t think we’d see Wickerbottom eliminating the darkness of night, getting a random army of bees, on top of some fire skills, although I guess the lore explanation for the last would be due to Willow inflicted trauma.

There are no such limits. The devs decide what to change, and then test those decisions. And suggestions, new ideas and wildest fantasies is what keeps a game evolving and moving forward.

I understand that. After Klei said they would take another look at Wormwood I took a step back.

Complaints were heard, they know why we felt like there was an issue, and they are working with those whys to address it.

It is their game, let them come up with the solutions. I am ecstatic that Klei is looking at it and I too am getting irked at all the suggestions. I get they are coming from a loving place but the best policy for change (I think) with game development is to explain what you feel with the systems/mechanics/game itself. The developers are trying to evoke feelings in their game, they have a vision and if we express issue and it doesn't align with that vision, it will change. If it does it will not. No amount of suggestion will make a developer change their mind if they are going for "I want player to feel X" and player suggests "I want this because it will make me feel Y"

Hope that makes sense.

Respectfully: literally one of the first pieces of Don't Starve merch was a pin of a cartoon pile of beefalo poop. Don't Starve has always made poop jokes, this isn't a new thing at all.

I can't believe this. In a game known for its DARK HUMOR, they introduced a character who constantly makes PUNS and says THIS when examining manure.

I can't believe Klei would do this to the franchise.......

Actually i made this thread first, i ranted in your thread afterwards, and mostly because: respectfully? You really wanna rework the entire skill tree as if there’s nothing else going on in the klei offices other than reworking wormwood, its childish and honestly pretty rediculous to be suggesting giant proposals especially when the proposals themselves… suck as bad as yours did.

respectfully tho.

This is what the game is now. All that's left is renaming it from Don't Starve to Don't Forget To Argue About Your Character For Their Upcoming Rererererererework!

mfw a game forum has a discussion about the game.
