Edit: oh okay after re-reading it several times i understand now. treat is basically synonymous with prize. So instead of having to submit an entry you just need to view the submissions to get it.

I still don't understand it.

The way @JoeW said it sounds like you don't get anything for submitting your pic/artwork.

What does it actually mean? Does it only need to be approved by staff first or does it need to actually make it to the nominations/win/make it into top # or something to get the "treat" ? This is a contest or no?

Its a little confusing due to the terminology but essentially from what i understand there is no prize tied to submitting an entry this year. The submission part of this event is just for people who want to share their creations/celebrate - and the approval process is just to make sure the submissions are appropriate and made by the submitter.

Instead the "prize" or "treat" is tied to checking out/viewing the thread that will be created with all of the entries it. Its a little vague but sounds like there will be a link hidden in the thread similar to how klei points links work - and you click it and get the costume skin set (within the event time period)

You submit a thing O the fun of it, for the community experience. You do not get a skin. Then, when the collecting ends, and JoeW posts the threads with all the works gathered one after the other, you will find skin links in those threads, no matter if you participated. (Afaik.)

The reason it's like this is because despite the rules being "make absolutely anything, a in-game screenshot, a stick figure, anything as long as it's yours" people STILL stole other people's art and submit it as theirs. Reverse searching every single submition would take too much time, so the rules got changed to make the event for people who want to partake and have a community experience instead of just people who want skins and that's it, to hopefully avoid the art stealing again.

Wait.. Really?

To clarify that mean people who don't submit anything at all will be able to get skin via links?

Ok lazy mode activated i won't make a submission :P

TREAT COLLECTING: This year participants no longer have to submit to collect a treat!
Simply check out the submissions, when you find a treat, click to collect!

Joe's phrasing makes me believe that this time we will have more than one 'treat' compared with last year where we got one skin set. As someone said already, probably this time we may get many spools/klei points links mixed into a gallery of the submissions, if that is true: the more submissions we make as community, the more points/spools we could get?

EDIT: This was hours before the epxosition of the gallery, I was wrong.

I'm gonna be annyoing and ask this: I made some funny cakepops of glommer and a tallbird a week ago and I would love to submit them - only they are already eaten now and I don't have the written message on the photos. Can I still somehow submit them or no exceptions?

It's still under review!

How much anxiety!

Will my drawing scare children under 10 years old?

Will my drawing be rejected?

The day is practically starting in the time zone f you ahhhhh!

My drawing will appear today or tomorrow? aaaah!

Help, I can't wait!

i guess if you make some artistic letters on it saying klei halloween 2022 should be enough

For the questions above.

The reason we are continuing the submission event is because the feedback from submitters was that they were very happy to have the prompt to do some art and happy with the opportunity to share it.

But there was also a lot of very low effort art, and people stealing art and stuff like that in order to get the item.

So the people that WANT to submit art. And the people that WANT to get an item, can get a skin set.

@Falkenpelz Technically the answer is no, because there are a lot of submissions and a lot of rejections because people just grab some random picture and write something on it. BUT if you make an attempt to art up the message you write on the image, I can let it go through. (I wouldn't have waited to to eat those tasty treats either!)

I'm a little confused on how this all works.. If i remember correctly last year you would submit and get a random costume skin for entering. I dont recall there being any additional prizes beyond that.

Now it says there will be no prizes for submissions but that you dont need to enter a submission to collect a treat. And then theres the post from last week :

This mentions getting the costume skin set like last year.

So i guess im just confused on how exactly this whole event works.

Still dont understand. I need to view the submissions, but where can I?

This is either a huge coincidence, or these Halloween rewards are fixed for every user every year.

Last time this event happened I got a supernatural wendy and my sister got a woeful willow for submitting stuff. This year we both got the same sets as last time.

Guess it's still free spools though

There was an issue where people were receiving the same gifts they got last year. We're working on fixing it up.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

For those that got the same items as last year, I need some time but I'll see what I can do to fix you as well.

Okay! I guess I shouldn't log in during this time?

And there I thought RNG has picked me as the chosen one to receive The Unfinished WX each year
