I asked my other friends and they got all of their skin sets just fine. I think it has something to do with me not opening the game between opening the two boxes. We are talking about the characters Wormwood and Wortox. And I couldn't find these clothes in the game, and also it doesn't show up in the transactions on klei's website. Subsequent (3rd, 4th etc) apparent gift drops, even if shown in browsing page, didn't pass, hence not received. Again, it was an error, normally just 1 gift per person per browsing should've been the case. Anyhow, as stated, interesting wait to go about the event this year, though still it looks like a lot of low-effort stuff, or plain trolling posts went by. On the other hand mine.. got rejected, eh. I presume it was because of my digitally-inscribed "KLei Halloween 2022" ( I used a special mod to hide UI as a whole for more details on print-screen, hence no in-game text) - yet other similarly-added digital text works went through. Oh well, c'est la vie. Hope everyone had fun on Halloween, even in the places is not celebrated. Cheers! One way to solve the trolling I suppose would be to link submissions to KLei profiles - and shown like that in submissions page (under submission, for example). Most people are more thoughtful when stuff is directly-tied to their online persona & such. Likewise a friend of mine was interested in who the authors of some works were to further interact with them, but current anonymous system prevents that - for better or worse. I for one consider such linking would be auspicious from many povs, mainly for further forum interactions sake - aka the essence of forums. Wow!!! This is very atmospheric art ♥ I feel your pain. The same situation is with me. It was probably presumptuous to expect klei to notice my work but I was still upset... I portrayed my favorite character Woodie and my friend with whom we constantly play dst. I was excited about the opportunity to grow my own trees and decided to draw this. It's a pity that klei ignored my and your labors. Although to be honest, I have seen very few good works... JoeW Posted November 2, 2022 Author Share Posted November 2, 2022 There were a LOT of bad submissions this year. Many of them will take art that they found online and just write on them. Submissions where the writing doesn't really match up with the art itself would be rejected because I cannot be sure it's not stolen art. This is why the original posts says "For digital art, decorate your "Klei Halloween 2022" message, even if you can't draw. ". Sometimes I let them slide depending on how likely the art might be stolen. We even had several people steal watermarked art from THIS years submission event. This is one of the reasons why we didn't reward for art submissions this year. Art was never rejected as a critique of the art itself. For the people with multiple gifts. Some people got extra gifts from the beginning of the event to correct for duplicated rewards were given. When that happened there was a knock-on effect of then later displaying the wrong item. We're looking at the errors. The intention was to only give one gift, if it says you got 3, but you didn't, it's an error and we're sorry for the confusion. Oh, is ok, it was a deliberate choice to not have any text obstructing game visuals; wanted to paint a clear picture of all those bushes arrangements, decorations & whatnot. I saw others submitted screen-shots with digital text added on top, and thought if I made a nice thematic (similar effects with the pumpkins beside creepy tree plus fireflies fx) "Klei Halloween 2022" in vacant void/dark space would be fine. Looks like it wasn't the case. Once more, c'est la vie - am used to see selectively-enforced rules, no matter the premise. People in-charge of selections get tired too. And yes, print-screen is from my camp there, on Charlie's Dream dedi server, last iteration; ty anew! But seriously, you were clear enough you wouldn't give anything for submitting stuff, except for people not reading I don't get why they would even try. I had fun drawing for the community and watching their costumes, crafts and drawings and hope this doesn't discourage you from repeating it next year. Congratulations everyone! And thanks klei! It was probably a mix of missing translations as well as just generally people not reading the rules fully. I'll definitely account for this more next year. I didn't disqualify AI art for a couple reasons. 1 - I didn't want to have to consider the use of AI on every submission. And 2 - I don't consider AI art entirely invalid right now. If it followed the rules, I let it through no different than other low effort submissions. I was certainly looking for higher effort submission this year, but who am I to say where effort meets ability? I couldn't draw to save my life, so I am not going to tell anybody that they could have done better. cvabent Posted November 3, 2022 Share Posted November 3, 2022 Had a lot of fun making Wils hair in 2020, but missed last year because I saw the Mod Challenge and thought there was no Cos/Art Event 2021 (somehow missed that post entirely, don't know how). Regardless, I've been wanting to dress up as Webber for years and am glad to finally have an official opportunity. Appreciate the effort to continue to host this event despite having to wallow through endless piles of low-effort and stolen art, which sounds discouraging. I rarely post my own art/cosplay/etc. anywhere because rampant art theft irks me so much, but I enjoy this event quite a bit. Thanks again.
