I only play Wicker and Wanda, so if I am playing Wanda and it becomes autumn I change to wicker because logs. And if I am playing Wicker I have no reason to swap to anyone. I just find character swapping super tedious and I don't really have the time in game to go back and forth between characters. Sure it would be more efficient if I changed to wigfrid to fight a boss but would it be fun? Maybe, but it wouldn't feel right. Besides, the floating moon thingy was always intended to be used for Chester tracking.

I never switch because when I create a world with a specific character I want to experience everything in the game as that character, that’s whats fun for me . If I want to play a different character I create a new world.

the only thing I’ve considered switching for is to build sisturns and gather mourning glories for decorations but im too attached to switch from my starting character even for that

I feel like character specific decorations would lose their charm anyway if I’m not playing as that character in that world.

I really wish it was guranteed two living logs....

They’re super easy to kill and respawn reliably/quickly though. I think the change was justified, they trivialised every other source of LLs when they were guaranteed to drop 2.

Wormwood living logs are my main reason, if there was a less RNG dependent way I might not bother.

I just crank up Treeguards to the highest setting. Granted I almost exclusively play my late game world/s but I'm generally swimming in living logs.

or you go for tumble weeds, mine the clockwork pices during full moon or new moon, i think even sunken treasures give gears too

as far as i remember you could always change character via teleportato and adventure mode so was a thing since the beginning

that is true, though in ds it was far more involved overall.

oops i didnt see there was a second page

I usually stick to the same character but sometimes I switch for three main reasons:

  1. Roleplaying purposes; I want to play a different character at the moment.
  2. Wanted to craft something character-specific, most often Wormwood's items.
  3. I'm on a public server, and the other players won't stop doing things that interact poorly with my character's downsides, sometimes in ways that can potentially get me killed. Usually this means having pigs loose in the base when I'm Wortox or Webber.

Before, I never knew it was there. So usually I had to gut it out or just ask my playmates to make a new one.

Now I switch when I've screwed the pooch or the character isn't a good idea to play. WX with no gears, Webber with no spiders etc.

Honestly I don't think I'd have found my love for Wolfgang if I wasn't able to switch to him while I had a well prepared and stocked base/world already. I wonder if Walter feels also feels less like a burden once I get established?

I've never gotten around to making the portal and/or swapping, although I've always thought the idea sounded cool in _theory_...

I do, however, have a mod that has you randomise into a new character when you die, so I can pretend I regenerated like the Doctor.  : P

mush gnomes?

Some people sometimes don't want to go down into the caves into another biome for some living logs, sometimes, the better alternative would be to sacrifice your health right at the portal for them, and if you have any healing items (besides food), you're pretty much good to go
