You're actually psychotic and in denial if you think meatballs are bad. Get a new opinion, because yours is broken and bad.

That sounds suspiciously similar to something Edgy Rick would say

Wait you guys make meatballs?

When i was a noob player……i think meatballs is still meaingful for most of noobs, maybe not the best, but kindly enough, just like my cook tutor:mrgreen:

You're living in an ignorant reality if you think meatballs are good. For the same effort it takes you to walk around the map with a pickaxe gathering ice to make a few weeks worth of the fast spoiling meatballs that restore no health or sanity you could have just walked around the map with a hammer to get pig houses for infinite food that lasts longer and restores more than just hunger (in addition to getting pigskin), or created bee boxes to have infinite food that lasts way longer and restores more than just hunger, or created a farm.

Meatball is still good for those who can not gather food efficienctly

hp and sanity wise meatballs are horrid

most players just refuse to learn better recipes

They are easily the best (besides for Wurt) hunger wise, and really cheap, even after this change.

60+ hunger for 1 meat is nothing to laugh at, while not good at Sanity of HP, they are still extremely strong due to how easy they maintain hunger.

Sadly, most recipes are useless due to better alternatives, we have Pierogi for healing as an example and now we even have the Bunny Soup, which is easy to make.

You gotta consider the cost of the recipe.

Meatballs are REALLY cheap to make, and you only need one good run of Ice farm, which solo can easily last you a year.

Btw a good recipe can be more than just feeling all 3 stats, like i mentioned 65+ hunger for one meat is really bloody good and cheap.

Sanity and HP require different foods to maintain, and with the Tam, Sanity is barely an issue most of the time, and unless youre constantly taking dmg you dont even need that much healing food.

I don't think Meatballs are necessarily bad, but I find them more trouble than worth. I personally really really dislike gathering ice, it's a large waste of time to me when I can spend time doing something else and survive just as easily. So many other foods I find to be better than meatballs, bacon and eggs, stuffed fish heads, meaty stew and etc. I like these recipes a lot more for hunger. Hell, nowadays I tend to just eat raw ingredients for hunger! Why waste time cooking?

Yea, meatballs might be nice when you're first starting out as a new player, and you're desperate to survive, but I think they fall out of use fairly quick and don't end up being that great, getting filler is a chore, the last time I ate meatballs was when we had an excess of forget-me-lots and we didn't have any other use for them, so hell, fillers for meatballs why not? lol.

If it makes you feel any better, when I made the rabbit stew to fill the cook book entry, I used a morsel I got from killing a rabbit that fell into the caves during an earthquake. I can't call myself a budding chef if I don't make a rabbit stew with actual rabbit meat!

You need to consider the cost of the recipe. Your consideration of the dish begins and ends at "Can be made with one meat". You are ignoring the cost of running around getting ice and ignoring my comment directly telling you better ways to get better food. If instead of running around getting ice you ran around getting pig houses you would have so much meat that you can feed multiple players with it. You only think meat is expensive because instead of investing your effort into getting better food sources you invest your effort into getting ice because you know doing that allows you to not die. You don't consider the fact that you're putting in much more time & effort into a food source that spoils fast, doesn't heal you, doesn't restore any sanity, and is just bad all around. And if meat is so valuable and impossible to get, just make bee boxes like I said. You don't even need meat, you can easily get several bee boxes and every time your honey stack runs low you just go to the bee boxes and get another 40-80 honey which lasts 40 days and restore 10 hunger & 3 health each, or just make a farm and grow things like pumpkins.

Meatballs are a situational dish that are mostly good if you're Warly or Wigfrid.

Cheggf are you talking about Jerky? What other better food with whole meat that is better than meatballs and lasts longer you were refering to when living near pig houses.

Jerky, bacon and eggs, meaty stew, and honey ham are all much better dishes than meatballs. Meaty stew has a spoil time similar to meatballs but is extremely hunger efficient.

Meaty Stew seems like a waste unless you are Wortox

But yea Honey Ham is nice but can be a pain to set up a bee farm early due to requirements.

Jerky takes long time to make even longer in Spring and producing it in large bulk is somewhat resource intensive due to needing A LOT of drying racks.

Eggs and bacon eh.. I rather Pierogi instead.

Meatballs is indeed a very good emergency / beginner food cause wet filler is easy to get and you could use any size meat for it for a much greater hunger return than the ingridients you used. Not something to use always once you set up other food sources.

You havent even explained the thing about the Pig Houses, you get NO food from destroying them, you get the food from the pigs themselves, and based around what you said, youre mainly referring to Jerky, which is better used for healing and sanity restoration, or long trips due to their durability.

Also, you can use more than just ice as filler, like berries, or even crops.

Btw, you can expend literally a single day (or two if more players) of the year getting the ice, which lasts forever in a fridge, if youre solo or with few players, the ice alone (with the meat) can maintain the group easily hunger wise, that way you can expend the rest of the year doing whatever, like a Crop farm, which you can use for more specific necessities, like HP with the potatoes.

And like i mentioned more than once now, once you get the Tam, maintaining Sanity is no issue, outside cave/ruin trips, where the head slot is limited, but you have Jerky for that, which helps more in those situations, but those take days to make (And thats without mentioning the resources needed for the Drying Racks), and are really luck based on Spring if you can even make them.

build 10 pig houses early on and you basically won the game

jerky is nice but regular meat can do incredible recipes even without racks

Wait did I miss something? Did they actually NERF meatballs?! That'd be awesome!

Yeah, single Morsel meat (Small ones) now make Bunny Soup instead of Meatballs.

While I understand the Meatballs soft nerf, it still remains as weird as that Cookbook recipe change that got reverted in implementation: the fact it's named Bunny Stew and you can throw any kind of 0.5 meat in to result a visual representation of a Bunny on soupy plate is uncanny. Frog Legs? Add water (Ice) -> Bunny Stew. A living Moleworm? Add water (Ice) -> Bunny Stew. The magical transmutation of anything into a Bunny has began, Maxwell style. Perhaps make Bunnies being able to be put in Crockpot to justify the naming and aspect? Meatballs aren't that much of a deal, more-so since most "Meatballs enthusiasts" actually use Monster Meat from Spiders, hence not really a removal of the "problem" anyway.

I think this is where the discrepency in our opinions lies.

I rarely use sanity clothes. I usually wear football helmet, beefalo hat, eyebrella or miners hat. And sleeping is a waste of valuable time. I also take damage frequently. Like, really frequently. I get smacked around by just about everything in the constant every time I leave the safety of base. I'm the guy on the server who gets killed out of nowhere by neutral mobs like pengulls and bunnymen.

What this means is that I almost always want to regen some health or sanity when I eat. Health and sanity recipes are far, far more valuable to me than hunger recipes.

I don't consider this a nerf at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. 20 health for a morsel/frogs legs? Bargain!

I mean IT IS a nerf for Meatballs, but a buff to Morsel meat.

And i welcome it.

Yay meatballs meta has been nerfed, this is probably the best update ever now.
