What's the least painful way to get Azure & Jet feathers? I need a lot of them to make Wigfrid's crafts but they're painfully annoying to get by setting traps, hoping to catch the right bird and hoping to get a feather.

Also, side note, thanks for the advice on Beefalo, it's been a lot of help.

Without portal shenanigans, dont use bird traps, just wear a feather hat and kill them with the elden spear or a boomerang

Why is the "gorge stuff" being referred to as quagmire in the game files? Is this some kind of reference to something I am missing?

(noticed this some months ago but I can't get it out of my head right now)

Because the area where the event takes place is basically a run down swampland (?).

That was my first thought too, but I was still confused why in particular the term quagmire was used (I have never read this term for something swamp-related before, only realized it meant swamp after looking up the word.)

Oh, I didn't know the word had another meaning (besides wet and soft terrain):

"quagmire
noun

1
: soft miry land that shakes or yields under the foot
2
: a difficult, precarious, or entrapping position : predicament"

It makes for a reasonable name to use internally in the game. I can imagine it received a straightforward and generic name since the events didn't end up having any elaborate backstory.

Now it makes a lot more sense! I didn't know about the second meaning at all.

So basically quagmire serves double as the reference to the swamp (and merms I suppose) and in reference to the inhabitants of the gorge world not having a way to escape the gnaw cult, so they either have to feed the gnaw eternally or suffer the curse of further mermification?

during winter make sure to run along the shore to get all your pengulls together, they often leave a couple feathers behind at the end of the season

XD I love your pokemon comparison here. I probably would have been less confused about the word quagmire (I really heard the word the first time in live only by seeing it in DST coding) if I had known about later pokemon generations ( I'm stayed stuck in G1 pokemon fandom only, so I barely know non-Kanto pokemon xD ) but I'm always surprised how many words can be learned by looking at different language's pokemon names xP

that is fair! i was already an adult with a job when gen three rolled in and i could play it x'''D i mostly know the first two gens with a smattering here and there because of a friend who plays the card game semi-competitively and a second who collects cards. looking up the pun in pokemon games is super fun though!

It's actually fun how I stuck with G1 pokemon because it was the first obviously japan anime I was allowed to watch (I was a child when it aired in my place) and I just adored the concept of made-up creatures. It was only in 2015 though that I was first able to actually play the gameboy games because I found a gameboy advance and the two G1 versions of Pokemon in a second hand shop. (I could have also bought generations Pokemon games there that worked for Gameboy advance but I was only interested in G1 pokemon because I was irritated by the lore changes / expansions that I read in a gaming / nintendo fandom magazine when G2 was released back then)

(I have seen trading cards as a child but never had any because of money [and me barely ever collecting anything that wasn't a book, based on branding in general] and gameboy games were forbidden because video games should be an exception and not meant to be portable)

I only got a tiny insight in later generation pokemon names by playing Pokemon Go for some years xP (my phone is meanwhile too old to still support that game anymore) But I soon stopped collecting anything that wasn't a G1 when the later ones got added.

What was the thing about moonstorms that changed so that you (maybe) don’t need bundling wraps? Was it infused moon shards? All the things I can find online says that it spoils in 12 minutes which still feels low. I don’t have bundling wrap.

All i can remember is you only need one restrained static maybe that less time for stuff to spoil

yeah, that's enough time to get to lunar without spoilage speed reduction or a bundling or gift wrap and iirc it's 15 mins during winter

Yes. For reference, the old time was 90 seconds. While it is still fairly low, it is realistic enough to make it to lunar, especially with an insulated pack/ice chester.

how do you make DST switch less laggy ? split screen or online is felt terribly lag for me.
and why all attack is force attack, like i was fighting nm creature and hit gloomer instead. or even bernie,
target locking should have not highlight nm creature become white, i cant see **** when its low sanity its even worse with snow overlay.

Thanks guys. With ice chester I had enough time to gather the shards, cook all my food and build the experiment. I would guess it had 30% freshness left.

Does Wigfrid's alignment only give her those songs or does it also give her alignment bonus damage? Someone claimed that they were dealing bonus damage to shadow-aligned enemies "because of my alignment" even though they didn't use the song.

Yes! Applies to everyone but Winona, she's the only character unable to align to either faction.

Does anyone have any tips to make Wigfrid runs more enoyable? I really hate that you need to kill Crab King just to get her best weapon. Not only that but to fully utilize her you need to kill celestial champion which is pretty hard on the switch even if you have an Elding spear equipped Wigfried. I mean you can just switch to Willow and spam shadow flame in phase 3 or stand there with Wanda and spam her watch. To get her things by Spring you need to do all Pearl's quest (including the annoying timing stuff with a telelocaator during autumn and right when day 1 of winter hits). You also need to ruins rush and kill AG and come back by day 10 in time for a full moon event.

Do any Wig mains have tips to make all this enjoyable or come up with a more laid back path? I mean ideally you even have a beefalo early on and are able to get the living logs early enough.

My partner and I play offline split screen on the switch and the short answer to this is you don't. Solo it's completely fine for me but add any player and it's gg. It's so bad that I have to pick different characters when we play together. I really like to play Willow but you can't farm bees or killer bees and hence collect the embers that make Willow powerful... So there's no point in playing her. She's been playing Wormwood lately so I've been playing a lot more Wolfgang just because it's more forgiving. And lately (hence my post above) I've been giving Wigfrid a shot because there's synergy with the healing. It's just she has a ridiculous upgrade path (especially when you are playing in a laggy, hard to kite, smaller width version of the game).

On the Switch in multiplayer mode I can't dodge tallbirds with 2 hits because the lag is so bad. I have to do 1 hit run. So my only advice would be to take extra care and time if you are experiencing that much lag or are playing multiplayer on the switch. Oh so you can ruins rush on day 3 without a science machine? Yeah no, try getting a beefalo with Moggles before you even try....

HOW did Wolfgang end up in the constant?

I mean we all know by now he got his powers from William Carter / (early Maxwell lol) using the Codex Umbra on Wolfgang for (imo very selfish reasons) the ability to save William's life. It was not really like Wolfgang seemed to have a chance to say "no" to it (I mean, I am quite sure non-magic-powers Wolfgang would have tried to [unsuccessfully] save him anyways. He's got such a kind personality, I doubt he wouldn't have done his best to help the people involved in the accident).

So what exactly did he do that DID send him in the constant then? I can only assumed the shadows were lurking to "get" him later as "exchange" for the powers early Maxwell infused him with.

(Or is there another video that explains more for Wolfgang's background or gives hints that I am oblivious about?)

I think after he got the power from the book somehow found Max again (or max found him) and made a deal for the strength
