Thank you! I hope this means enough time for me to make some progress to make my character with his new sprites roughly playable again until the beta gets officially added into the game.

Don't forget to put on steam workshop, even though I don't play all that much with modded characters, I love to subscribe to them!

He is invisible in steam's workshop so far because he's still super much in WIP ^^ It's just Maxwell but taller and with very silly gameplay changes that /I/ consider funny / fit to my AU version of him. The problem is since I changed his placeholder sprites with the final ones he needs to have a LOT of animations adjusted, so I doubt he will be released from WIP this year. (also I doubt anyone besides me actually enjoys playing with this  kind of "handicap"-but"OP"-at-the-same-time character. Also there is still weird glitches connected to him that don't really show ALL the time though, e.g. a lot of times hounds announce but don't show up, in other servers they do, but I can't find which part of the mod's code is causing it yet. (the one I thought that DID cause it was NOT the reason for it.)

Has there been any comment as to whether or not Woodie and Wolfgang will get their own unique skill tree backgrounds? As far as I can tell they share the exact same look even though Wormwood and every character skill tree after has gotten unique flair.

Okay I need help. In preparation for the upcoming shadow saddle I've been playing Wendy again. I have a fully tamed ornery war beefalo and currently carrying the bell. I'm also playing on the Switch. When I fight dragonfly and the beefalo is nearing low health I use the panflute to put dragonfly to sleep. The problem is, the beefalo walks away from me and it's impossible to feed it 1 let alone 8-10 consecutive blue mushrooms to heal it. I've tried getting its obedience to max and its hunger to max before the fight starts. Turning target locking on. Even trying to run infront of it in order to stop him for a few seconds but no luck.

Anyone else have this issue? Is this a purely console / switch bug?

Could it be that the constant used to be distructed by a nuclear holocaust like worldwar before Maxwell was taken there?

I mean: There was not much, mainly dust. But some creatures used to live there earlier (I think also some plants?)

There used to AT LEAST be the civilization of the ancients.

The ancients "shed their skin" (survived burnings? got multilated by radiation sickness? Etc.)

Maybe Hamlet pigs used to be there in the time before, and other than their less civilzed counterparts maybe where not that much impacted,

but the more tribal pigs may be based on the few ones that survived a nuclear war and survived in small groups having to adapt to a distructed world?

And so on. (Maybe that's also why nobody seems to offer a REAL describtion of who THEY actually are? Because there is almost nobody left to remember?)

LOL ok probably all of this contradicts some lore that I am not aware off or that I can't remember right now or that I missinterprete but it was just a random thought I just had.

why cant we steal a pig's house for ourselves?

Funny enough I just saw this when I accidently browsed the first page:

WHY INDEED?! I have been wanting to occupy one of those houses since first time I saw a pig house in DS. (I wanted Wilson to have a cute house for himself too ;;)

Though this was before Hamlet :3

---------

I am sorry this merged with the last one but here is why I actually went to this thread again:

Since I first met the cave werepig during my last time playing DST:

HOW ON EARTH can a singleplayer free this guy? I know I usually avoid combat but I was too curious what happens when you free him.

(I even looked up in the wiki but there it says you need to make all 3 pillars tremble at the same time. But no matter what I tried I could only make one pillar shake at once. So do singleplayers not get a chance to do anything with the daywalker? : ( )

you need to use pick/axe, brightshade smasher or woodie beaver with 3rd beaver perk for making them shake, the slight shake from using some other thing doesn't count even if 3 players do that at the same time iirc

Ah thanks! So that's what Wilson meant by needing a better tool

all berry types count for bushes just the same as all dryables count as meat

I’ve been thinking about this question quite a lot and I think I'm going to finally just ask it to the DST forum Community.

What determines what is or isn’t considered to be early or late game content?

The reason I ask this question is because I toggle rifts to on in Day One game worlds and for me this content isn’t any harder than any of the previous content that came before it, yet… this stuff is locked behind a lengthy RPG quest and several boss fights.

A player who is very good at the game can SpeedRun opening up late game content on Beginner players.. so WHAT actually defines it as “Late Game?”

And If it can be done “Early Game” How can it possibly still be considered “Late Game?”

For Reference Purposes Butcher type zombies did not start spawning in Dead Island until you were about 80% complete with the game, but ONCE they spawned they spawned EVERYWHERE even in old areas you already did all tasks in.

However… players actually have to complete 80% of the game to reach this point, AND the game even locks players who are too far ahead of or behind you in story progress from joining worlds.

However when it comes to DST all it takes is one slightly skilled player to speed run late game stuff before Winter even starts.

So what exactly determines what type of content in DST is “Early Game” or “Late Game?”

Under natural spawning occurrences Pigmen become Werepigs on Day 11, but players can force feed them Monster Meat or Haunt them while a dead ghost, to force their transformation as early as Day 1.

Ruins can be considered late game to a new player. A veteran it's a day 1 thing if your good enough. I think I'd base early game and late game around a new player and what they can obtain. But this is all just subjective anyways so eh.

Wait, after the current beta update, the next content update for DST is in December or January?! Omg.. that’s a long way a way for me to hold out hope for a 2024 update that doesn’t feel “Bite-Sized” :(

But more importantly than that, not only is 2025 the year of the Snake event, but it’s ALSO the OFFICIAL 10 Year Anniversary of Don’t Starve Together!

Just posting here because I don't want to open an actual thread for it again.

Anyway question regarding forum users:

Are there people here who are forum members and play DS or DST and:

- have no interest in putting lore above everything

- don't spend their time with analyzing lore (or at least it's only a minor part of their time)

- have their own headcanons and AUs that may contraditct DS or DST era lore

- may prefer one game's lore over the other

- have modded their game to an extend that lore becomes irrelevant

- just focus on: "I want to have fun! I don't care if it's making sense"

- who focus on having their fanart / fanfictions / other fandom stuff revolve around any specific details that are left open in lore or even rejected by lore

In case those people exist, please let me know, maybe? Because despite of being quite an outcast in most fandom communities when it comes to my "I like every fan idea and support them no matter what canon says in comparison" mindset. But in this forum I feel kind of even more outcasty then usual. (but this may be because I have mostly stopped interacting with fandom communities in general for quite some years, so maybe in the 2020s it has become normal for fans sticking closer to canon then back in the times when I still actively searched 'the internet' for fanart and so on.)

Have the ancients consumed fuel because of them losing their minds from overusing and insanity that brought from embracing it? It isn't stated that they have had any kind of famine... Unless their metabolism was too high in Constant for them to want to even maintain it.

I think I have read somewhere that they don't renew but I may have missunderstood that.

EDIT: Nevermind mysterious plants DO regrow. This must have been about something else what I was reading.

I have lost the left foot of my Funko Wilson :/ that detached some years ago but yesterday when I did the "equipable Wilson" pose with him and Maxwell it seems the foot broke off /again/ and now can't be found anymore. Does anyone here have an idea how to make poor Wilson be able to stand without assistenz again? (I consider making him a temporary prothetic foot out of black plasticine :( )

Wilson is wearing a prothetic foot/shoe out of kneadable blue wax now, in lack of black plasticine.

But as you see Maxwell is SO happy to find Wilson not in dead-idle animation and being able to stand by himself again, that he's giving Wilson an honest hug.

I kind of headcanon that Wortox doesn't exist unless someone playing the world owns his DLC (I avoid owning it on purpose even though I easily could've weaved it if I wanted to). I prefer to ignore him in general, and that means he doesn't exist in any of my solo worlds.

Thanks for sharing this! I mean exactly such details, and I am glad to hear they exist in other people's minds too

I have a very real and serious question that I would like to ask the Dont starve together community and the dev team behind the game, how do you guys feel about/have you ever considered turning DST into a Free-To-Play game?

The reason I’m asking this very oddly specific question is because over on the Xbox, if your Gamepass or Xbox live subscription is expired (many of my friends can’t afford to pay it monthly) you can still play games that are Free-To-Play without needing to have an active subscription to do so (Fortnite, Multiversus, Fallguys etc..)

I bring this up TODAY because thanks to Mr JoeW (no hard feelings Joe) we got no week in advance warning that a game content update was coming out for DST. So now I’m in this awkward situation of there’s a new DST update on Xbox right NOW but my friend hasn’t been able to renew his Gamepass/Xbox live subscription yet.

He wouldn’t have to and could play DST without needing to, if DST was turned FTP.

But at the exact same time, I know that the FTP business model is often times horrible and could spell doom for the game or franchise if handled poorly.

It's not a good enough reason imo, especially considering there are platforms where you have to pay a subscription to access online multiplayer for any game at all (can't relate :x) and since many people play no more than a dozen or so hours without ever buying a skin pack, I'd say it wouldn't pay off.

Does Anybody know a mod that makes Wilson's beard invinsible?

I'm so tired of seeing this guy every few days:
