What perks of winona are exclusive to her, can i change character and keep fuel efficiency/sleep mode on catapults, or is a winona on the server/near the structure needed for it to activate those extra effects?

I think perks are done on placement?

I remember in a pub another winona placed a spotlight and it was low radius, then I picked it up and placed it again and it transferred my perks to it.

So yeah, in the code it seems to apply perks ON PLACEMENT

Am I among the only ones who still prefers DS single player lore? I mean yes of course DST added a LOT especially positive things like backstories and extremly detailed and lovely made animation videos, and still DST has become so terrible complicated and in parts contradicting (at least a bit?) to some of the old DS stuff, that I often wish the lore wouldn't have been changed at all! (especially since the "moon" part of the lore was introduced. The idea is nice I suppose with the lovecraftian theme but it confuses me so much when I try to still think of the game as the old DS)

I do agree it is sad dst turned Maxwell from the guy who created most of the creatures of the constants world as we know it out of his own boredom having learned most of that world's mysteries from his time on the throne into a guy who was just a big fish in a small pond who knew absolutely nothing about the real state of the world he was messing with for so long. With Wanda more or less taking his place in that regard but with poor memory to retroactively make anything added fit with her.

Exactly, you speak my mind! Mainly that's why for me I still prefer to play the original DS, and MOSTLY ignore the new "moon" lore from DST [and some other DST lore] when thinking of DS stories and scenarious etc. in my mind. For me it also is still "Maxwell's world" since I fear the time I started to actively feel a DISLIKE for DST's lore vs DS lore was when the name "constant" was used the first time. I didn't mind Shipwrecked world and Hamlet world being in different places then the old "Maxwell world" and having their own history, but for me the "Maxwell world" in my mind was meant to stay untouched. And "they" for me were always meant to only be those who imprisoned Maxwell and Charlie in their world. It kind of ruined something for me when the moon god thing was introduced. But who knows, maybe something else will happen that will give me some sympathy for the "moon" lore in future, such as I first reject DST having Charlie as the shadow Queen, I meanwhile accept she's taken the seat, although I still consider her too "nice" as a villain for my taste. [The Charlie vs Wagstaff thing to me doesn't make her feel more villainous to me either.] It was feeling more evil and villainy to me when Maxwell got corrupted by the shadow magic, just played the game of "them" and took people [not so randomly as I thought at first...] hostage for his own amusement.

I wouldn't mind Wanda getting a REAL place in the lore finally, though. I was excited when I heard about her the first time. I could even kind of see her give some future way to "save" the survivors [While at the same time I want DS/T to stay a neverending circle of survival and death doomed in missery to all eternity.....well DST put rather much "joy" into this misery in case the survivors avoid bossfights but....I suppose you know what I mean.]

Does anyone else also consider it adorable how some of the stuff in this game is named in the game code? I mean I just found this while searching all files in the scripts folder for the word maxwellphonograph [it seems to be the map for the checkmate chapter]

Why do people seem to have so much disdain for the Piggyback? I love the item since it is an amazing bridge between a normal Backpack and a Krampus Sack. (10% is still a pretty low drop rate for a once (or twice if I do it early) per year boss)

No I agree. I don’t care about the lore any more, in part because it’s so ill-fitting.

Team Moon versus Shadow isn’t Lovecraftian or mysterious.

I suppose the elder gods theme used to be the original inspiration behind it but it has driften into taking way too much space up to the point where it replaces / overshadows lots of the lore I grew attached to. :/

Does anyone use Wurt’s Community Feeder skills for reasons beyond just convenience? Does it in practice do anything else than let you recruit merms more conveniently? It seems that the faster spawn rate doesn’t matter in practice since merm guards with helmets (and perhaps a marble armor for the king and perhaps a crown) are so tanky.

Silly question, but does anyone else here, since DST started the ghost mechanic, set their characters on fire / kill them on purpose and just for fun to see them floating around as silly looking ghosts? Or is it just me? (I am a DST single player so I suppose this can be excused on your own servers). Also I do NOT mean grieving but torturing your OWN character and then make sure to revive as soon as possible to not drain other people's sanity with your spooky ghostiness to much.

i have drain off and kill myself often for werepig shinanigans

Not only that you can delete the whole movement speed downside by using a beefalo. Free Krampus-tier space!

Do otters respawn from their den? I swear I kill a pair from a den and after some days I saw them again. The wiki doesn't mention them respawning in both the otters page and the dens page. Also, if they do respawn, how fast?

They do respawn.
A den can have up to 2 otters and regenerates 1 otter in 6 days.
