About the reworked survivors

Recommended Posts

The reworks I'd personally like to have in DS are just Woodie and Warly, since they're both in such a bad state in DS. Other than that, I think every character is well off already in DS, and there's so much content there that characters aren't needed for variety as much.

DS was made in 2013 though, DST is 2017.. (for consoles anyway) it wouldn’t make sense to go back to the older game and add in these new found reworks, I think it helps to solidify the fact that DST is quote “A Sequel of Sorts”

from my personal point of view: Going back to old DS and adding any further content would just be wasted time & development resources that could be spent adding more cool new stuff to DST, does that make me sound like a greedy selfish jerk? Maybe...

But when I look at the new Lunar Moon Biome and those cute but deadly Saladmandars my guilt for saying that washes away. :)

DS being the "older game" doesn't really mean much, considering it got two DLCs over the years even while DST was in active development. DS was 2013, Reign of Giants was 2014, DST was 2015, Shipwrecked was 2016, a New Reign was 2017, Hamlet was 2019, Return of Them is 2019...

If you only look at the console release dates of the base games, then sure, DST is the game that came "after" and DS is the game that came "before", but that's a silly way to look at things when both games have received active support via a mix of free updates and paid DLC.

I've already shared my opinion on why I don't want most reworks in DS, but the attitude in this reply bothers me a lot as someone who enjoys both games.

Hamlet isn’t even available on Xbox.. But why would you want characters who were reworked for multiplayer in a Single Player game?

i Don’t fully understand the benefits of say (Goose Form Woodie) in Single Player DS outside of making that game Easier (which there seems to be this big heated debate on these forums about DS being the superior uncompromising wilderness survival game where as DST is a crafting casuals party simulator..)

i personally don’t Agree with that and I could list several ways DST can be harder than Single Player DS, starting with... but not limited too having a bunch of players join the game, Die and constantly drain on your Sanity as a ghost.

However... I use an Unbiased prospective seeing as I own both games and while ghosts draining Sanity in DS isn’t something you have to worry about, not having anyone to revive you also weighs on difficulty too so both games have their pro’s and con’s.

Beefalo-sh*t! I would pay money how much they want if they brings dst stuffs to ds. And i'm sure there is tons of people they want this.

some of these wouldn't translate well into singleplayer anyway.

this is utterly false.

What would be badly transleated about Bernie 2.0, Woodie's forms or Warly's spices and new recipes?

But in any case, there is no team of developers working on DS currently, and the code for both games is actually pretty different, I hear. So it won't happen.

The problem is that a lot of forum goers tend to have this belief that Single Player DS is the True uncompromising wilderness survival game, where as Multiplayer DST is a Casual game that’s a lot less forgiving and nowhere near as difficult.

So therefore, Requesting the porting of The (arguably easier) New DST Reworks back over into Single Player DS would therefore make that game also significantly easier right?

Dst maxwell, even without his rework, is also a lot better than DS maxwell.

I would want him to still have the +20 sanity gain, but I would like his new powers translated to dst.

Depending on what content you mean the beefalo sh*t is already in the game.

The balence of the game holds no bearing on how well they could be translated to ds, I think that a gew character may even be more fun if they had their reworks with their character. Woodie would be a god in sw as he wouldn't be limieted to a boat for exploration and the moose would go for a few low tier boss killer, to a every nose killer which is more fun then his current interation which is good for chopping trees and maybe killing a hound or spider.

DST is a casual that's a lot less forgiving. Question marks.

Sure, but that's a whole different argument.

I'm... very confused. I said I don't personally want many reworks in DS, but don't agree that DS is obsolete just because the base game was released before DST.... and your response is that Hamlet is not on xbox, we don't need reworks in DS, DST is harder than DS, and that you're unbiased because you own both games? I'm sorry but I can't follow this at all.

Yeah.. even my best friends have a hard time understanding me because of how completely random I am, I Do humbly apologize though, Sorry.

This thread gave me an idea, hear me out.

"Stranger Newer Powers DLC"
A SP DLC that gives the characters their reworked form from DST. You can switch it on or off like any other DLC.

Yes, it's money and money bad but honestly I'm down to give klei like 5 bucks to change some playstyles.
