Would Wagstaff be like John Galt?

I was looking up the connection between John Galt and Bioshock since I'm reading Atlas Shrugged and found a paragraph in this article interesting:

Quote

Although not revealed until the last third of the text, John Galt is an inventor and philosopher, who has become frustrated with the oppressive bureaucracies and socialist ideals that he feels have run ramped. Therefore, he encourages society’s leading industrialists to go on strike and retreat with him to Galt’s Gulch, where they can escape the overregulation that prevents the individual from reaching their full potential.

With Wagstaff's comments on the technology of the Constant, it sounds like Wagstaff is going down the path of Galt to become a superior industrialist. Even if it means trouble for others down that path.

Yeah, I could see this. With the way they set his character up, he does seem very suspicious to say the least! :o

“John Galt was a millionaire, a man of inestimable wealth. He was sailing his yacht one night, in the mid-Atlantic, fighting the worst storm ever wreaked upon the world, when he found it. He saw it in the depth, where it had sunk to escape the reach of men. He saw the towers of Atlantis shining on the bottom of the ocean. It was a sight of such kind that when one had seen it, one could no longer wish to look at the rest of the earth. John Galt sank his ship and went down with his entire crew.”

And since there's now the Return of Them with ship mechanics...I have to wonder.

Ever since hints showed up about Winona's existence, prior to her debut, there were John Galt vibes all over (at least in my world). Remember the huge hype of the idea of getting a new character back then, eh?

Yeah, especially in the leaked-Winona lines.

Spoiler

I don't know, it seems to me that Wagstaff is really just the man who wants to prove to the world that he is worth something. Perhaps he had a difficult childhood, because his lines are filled not only with "dangerous" humor, but also sad notes. Perhaps he had lost something in life and decided to devote his life to science.

In General, it's not like any greedy villain, though knowing Klei, the appearance is sometimes deceptive:wilson_ecstatic:
