Some issues with the Arboria Asteroid.

I colonized an Arboria Asteriod, because it has all of the new stuff in it. But now I have noticed some Gamebreaking issues with this asteriod.

If you are already into the game for 200 cylces, i have noticed, i have no methane geyser! I don't need it for powering my base, but to cook the good recipes. I could produce small amounts by myself through the fertilizer, but the cooking station need 500g/s. Not a good solution. So, i thought about to refine oil to petroleum and use the methane output (90g/s). Still small amounts, but betters than nothing.

What I need?

I need Oil. I have bad luck with my seed and the whole Oil biome is over 200+ C hot. Without an atmo-suit i can't go in to build the structures i need, because the dupes get hurt and die possibly. I have no single reed-fiber on the whole map and I have no cooper ore to make the atmo-suits too. Seems to be i am lost in space, ehm, asteriod. :D

Any Ideas?

Thanks, good to know. Normally I don't ranch any critter, because it costs only dupe time and was nearly useless Updates before. That is maybe the reason why I have forget the dreckos give me fibers too. The metall change is a good news. So, I am not lost. Oil biome  I'm coming, but first, tame a good damn Drecko and cutting his hairs. :D

 

I have two chlorine geysers.... Need you one? Can I have your methane geyser? I pay with Dreckos!

You don't have to tame them to shear them. Just round them up in a room <=96 tiles with a shearing station (don't even build a grooming station). You need a rancher, a critter drop off, and a shearing station. That's all.  If you can round up 1 critter per dupe, then you can suit everyone up. No further ranching required.

There are times when we don't even need room to do that :p But It is fixed now. I'm not sure shearing machine still work outside the ranch room.

Because of this, usually my drecko grooming station has priority 1.

And you need light source as well. Well you can just build and not connect it and it still counts. Not sure if they will fixed that, if they do, it gonna makes for interesting Dupe sensor setup. 

I'm playing Arboria too.

I think Arboria shouldn't be third in difficulty.

We have a serious lack of main resources

- No algae

_No coal

_No reed fiber

_No gold

_Scarce sand... no sand at start.

I'm loving the asteroid and the problems are ok to deal with but I think it's being harder than my run in Oceania.

I'd say it's difficult for experienced players who have to re-learn the early to mid game but maybe not so much for new players? I don't know. But i agree it's probably rated a little too easy, compared to it's reality. Verdante is definitely easy though.

Also, if the geyser logic hasn't changed, you should have 1 guaranteed natural gas.

Unless it was overwritten by boulders.

I think it is changed. At least there are different rules for some worlds. I am having fun with rime since yesterday, where I thought will be very easy run. I tried many map generation without boulder, so there is guaranteed no geyser disappear because of that. In rime usually, I get 16 geyser. Not counting all volcano (around 4) inside magma chamber. Assuming 2 of them overridden by POI, we should still get 14. Different than previous rules max 12 geysers.

You can disable the grooming station

The thing about the pair of guaranteed Cool Steam Vents, the guaranteed NatGas Vent, and the 50/50 of a Chlorine or another NatGas Vent is that they are all tied to specific biomes.  If the biome is not present, you can't have that guaranteed geyser object.

There is a Cool Steam for both Caustic and Swamp biomes, and the NatGas is Swamp.  The 50/50 is from Caustic.  So this means that, on these new asteroid presets with no Swamp biome, you are only guaranteed a Cool Steam and a NatGas.
