Billy the goat, simple idea for this character.

Recommended Posts

Billy could be a new original DST character.
I had fun imagining its features.

https://dontstarve.fandom.com/wiki/Billy

Health: 150
Sanity: 100 (It is both a child and a goat)
Hunger: 300

Billy, being a goat, does not eat meat dishes, but only vegetables and dishes of vegetables or sweeteners.
Billy can use the cut grass as a filler in the crock pot recipes, as well as eat it raw to recover 5 of hunger and 1 HP.
Billy, being a goat, has a strong affinity with the volt goats: he can milking them periodically, to get milk without having to kill them.
Not only, that volt goats will tend not to attack when struck by lightning.
Billy can build some new objects, from his experience in The Gorge:
Salt rack: it is built as a dryer. When placed on a pond, it periodically produces salt. Salt can be used only once on a food to restore 50% of its duration.
Using salt twice on the same food will make it too salty, therefore toxic, and will restore 100% of food durability. It can therefore be used as a lethal bait for some animals, such as turkeys, pigs, spider, etc. (Edit: The damage that too salty food inflicts is equal to the hunger it restores. Yes, a way to recreate, in the game, the poisonous meat stew of the beta adventure mode)
The salt can also be given to the volt goats to make friends, and they will follow you wherever you want.
Salt can also be used to restore a bit of salt lick durability.
Crab trap: built with 4 wood logs and 2 rope. It allows you to catch crabs on the beaches by the sea (content designed for Return of Them, imagining in the future the presence of crabs like Shipwracked)
Slaughtering tools: built with a 1 razor, 1 dog tooth and 1 rope. It allows you to get 50% (approximating excess) of extra meat from killed creatures. Does 34 damage.
(Example: a beefalo normally from 4 pieces of big meat. If killed with a slaughter tool, it will give 6 pieces of big meat.
Normally a pig from 1 piece of big meat. If killed with a Slaughter Tool, he will give 1 piece of big meat and 1 piece of small meat.
Normally a rabbit from 1 piece of small meat. If killed with a Slaughter Tool he will give 2 pieces of small meat.)

Edit: Billy can also build the fishing rod, trap and bird trap without the need to make the prototype and with 50% less materials, in its tab to create objects. Not only that: Billy is the only one who can fish for salmon with a fishing rod. Salmon give back double the statistics compared to a normal fish, salmon decay is doubly slow and can be made to dry to produce smoked salmon, which restores the same statistics as dried big meat.
It can also be exchanged with a catcoon for a random item on its list. (sooo much more useful than it might seem to a superficial analysis)

Billy should also have a unique saddle skin that turns a tamed beefalo into an old beefalo. :3

The crabs in the Gorge where more or less like Rock Lobsters: Rocky crustaceans. They don't have anything to do with the Crabbits in SW and don't need to be around water. They eat rocks like Rock Lobsters also do.

Why is it called Billy? Can we not make it like Willy or Winnie?

Are you asking why it's called Billy in the Gorge, or the character we think might show up in the future?

Because Billy is his name in the Gorge.

Oh sorry didn't know that, never got to playh Gorge as I was having a break during the event :( [#ReGorge].

But is there an actual connection between the character with the next DLC character in question or is it all just a speculation given that Wortox has a quote "little goat" and all the goat entities we know are Volt goats and this Billy?

Great idea, I wont to see salt racks. But I wonder about the stacking of food. It becomes quite OP when used on a stack of 40 beacon and eggs. And what if one of those beacon and egg already got salt on. Bunddlewraps also have this goal of helping lifespan of food.

And on a general note, you seem to describe some kind of hunter base character, which is a bit different from the new plant boi and thats fine like it, but it goes contraire to your vegetarian thing idea for Billy

Well, kind of.

There's a few goats we know of, so at first when Wortox mentions a goat, it could be any kind of goat, old, or even new.
HOWEVER, when he examines Webber and Wendy's ghost, he says he won't eat them, but with any other character, he mentions how they look tasty.
This shows us he doesn't want to consume the souls of children, EX: having a soft spot for children or babies. (Baby beef in his trailer.)
He has a quote saying he won't eat the "goat's" ghost, showing us that it's possibly a child, we know Billy is a child, a goat, so these kind of match up.

Plus, Mumsy said her and Billy would follow the survivors once they escape from the Gnaw/at the end of Gorge, too.

Excellent objections! I hadn't thought about the fact that on DS the food can be stacked. Yes, making fresh 40 portions of food again with a salt would be really excessive. I think we can solve it easily: we can only salt the dish if "single". Once salted, the dish gets the "salty" tag, and can only be stacked with dishes with the same tag.

However yes, Billy, despite being vegetarian, has many tools to get mainly meat.
This is due to three reasons, in order of importance:
First: Billy is based on his counterpart in the Gorge where his function is to provide tools to procure meat and salt.
Second: Billy is thought to be a supportive character, a sort of Wormwood counterpart. So, if Wormwood is meant to produce lots of vegetables, Billy is designed to produce lots of meat. For him food is not a problem, thanks to the stomach 300 and the possibility of eating and / or supplementing cut grass in his diet. And, unlike Woodie, he consumes nothing of what he produces, all for the benefit of the team :'D
Third reason: the meat is still useful outside of the diet. Can be made into eggs to make gunpowder, can be traded for gold, can be used to recruit pigs, build a Ham Bat, etc. etc. Billy could also use it to create poisonous meat stews from as much as 150 damage when eaten!
Finally, consider that Billy is not a vegetarian by ethical choice, but only because he is biologically a herbivore. In short, if he has to kill and slaughter another creature for some purpose he should not have any particular problems ;)
