Anenomeys... What do they do?

Think of them as a tooth trap that automatically resets. I don't know how many of these things spawn normally in a world though, so I don't know how practical it would be.

In addition to naturally resetting, anenemies have an AoE attack when set off. The trade off is that they can hurt you and you need to get to the lunar island to find them.

Well, basically they are hostile tooth trap that reload themself, they can't burn or die... ^^ kinda perfect for... anything related to kill some foolish beasts

Pretty much what everyone else has said.

I don't know if it's in game, but I know it was at least planned for them to die. Weather that be after a while or due to an attack, they're got a death animation where they shrivel up.

Maybe they are suppose to die in summer? They look like they need water but hadn't died as the fishes you can found in that biome.
