Comparison between Winona's catapults, BERNIE! and Abigail

I'm main Wendy, I really wish she would be reworked well, when the time comes.
I therefore propose a comparative analysis with two characters currently reworked and a personal proposal of mine.
Notice that I am repurposing old ideas, you may already have read my proposal in other topics. :D

  • Life: Winona's catapults - 400 HP / BERNIE! - 2000 HP / Abigail - 600 HP
  • Regeneration: Winona's catapults - 8 HP for 10 seconds / BERNIE! - None / Abigail - 1 HP for 1 second
  • Damage: Winona's catapults - 42,5 / BERNIE! - 50 / Abigail - 10 Day, 20 Dusk, 40 Night
  • Damage to area: Winona's catapults - Yes / BERNIE! - None / Abigail - Yes
  • It can hit the shadows: Winona's catapults - No / BERNIE! - Yes / Abigail - No
  • Method of evocation: Winona's catapults - Build it with trusty tape, sticks and rocks / BERNIE! - Willow has to put it down and go crazy / Abigail - Wendy has to wait three or four days and sacrifice an animal on her twin's flower. She also loses 50 of sanity.
  • In case of death: Winona's catapults - Winona can build a new catapult at any time and recover some of the materials from the old one. / BERNIE! - Willow can "cure" it with a sewing kit and bring it back to 100% of life. In case of abandonment, it give part of the materials to rebuild it from scratch. / Abigail - The flower closes for another 3/4 days
  • Other special abilities: Winona's catapults - There is no limit to the number of catapults that Winona can build simultaneously. Each catapult requires to be powered by a generator. / BERNIE! - Willow can build several BERNIE! and activate them one at a time as soon as the previous one dies. BERNIE! It attracts the attention of enemies, allowing Willow to act almost undisturbed. / Abigail - She emits a feeble light, which however is very difficult to use against Charlie. Like BERNIE!, when an Abigail dies, Wendy can immediately summon another with another flower

As can easily be seen from this quick comparative analysis, Abigail is tremendously frail compared to other companion.
She has less life, does less damage even in her most powerful form, has no particularly interesting abilities beyond area damage; it also has a longer evocation method if we want to.

I would therefore like to reiterate the need to increase Abigail's statistics, as well as having the opportunity to tell her whether to attack or not.
I remember that both Winona and Willow have other abilities beyond their minions, while Wendy only has Abigail (currently). All the more reason, I think Abigail should be a little more resistant and versatile than the others.

Here are my suggestions on how to make Abigail appropriate to the new "power level" of the characters:

  • Life: Abigail - 1200 HP
  • Regeneration: Abigail - 10 HP for 1 second in "peaceful" mode; 5 HP for 1 second in "hostile" mode
  • Damage: Abigail - 20 Day, 40 Dusk, 80 Night
  • Damage to area: Abigail - Yes, +50% radius
  • It can hit the shadows: Abigail - No
  • Method of evocation: Abigail - Wendy has to wait three or four days and sacrifice an animal on her twin's flower. She also loses 50 of sanity. 
  • In case of death: Abigail - The flower closes for another 3/4 days, If it is Wendy who sends Abigail away, the flower is immediately ready for a new evocation.
  • Other special abilities: Abigail - She emits a feeble light, which however is very difficult to use against Charlie. Like BERNIE!, when an Abigail dies, Wendy can immediately summon another with another flower. Abigail can be controlled by Wendy, who can decide whether to put her in "peaceful" mode (she will never attack, under any circumstances, tending to distance herself from enemies) or "hostile" (normal behavior). Abigail is also 30% faster in moving.

This new Abigail, as you can see, does not have the possibility of "massacre" that have Winona's catapults, nor the possibility of obtaining as many nightmares as BERNIE! Also, She has 800 HP less than the latter and cannot be "repaired" with a simple sewing kit.
It also does less damage on average, only during the few night minutes it gets to inflict 80 damage.
however, this new Abigail, if used well, wants to be a tank of the first category: its massive regeneration can allow she (if commanded well on when to stand aside during the fight) to resist many hits, even by most powerful enemies. Now she really can protect Wendy, as her description says.

Ps: I have personally tested Abigail with these features, including the ability to control she. Personally, I've always found it to work very well without being broken.

i tend to stay away from playing Wendy because of the 25% dmg debuff throws me off emotionally and tactically (dont ask me what that means) but the way you've set her up here with the increased hp dmg and player toggled modes, I wouldn't mind giving her a few runs tbh very well put my man! great job!

She also 1 shots bosses, does 4000 damage during full moons, poops out 1 nightmare fuel with each passing day and Wendy can eat the flower to glow in the dark for 200 days and be immune to both freezing and overheating.

Jokes aside, Wendy is a character outside of Abigail. Not all buffs should be put on Abigails shoulders. That'll only encourage the "Abigail" mains out there.

I do like the idea of controlling Abigail, though. Or atleast give her commands. The reason I never play Wendy is because Abigail doesn't feel like a buddy, but rather a mindless minion. The way they handled BERNIE!, by making him feel like an actual friend that wants to protect you, gives me high hopes for the future of Abigail.

Obviously it depends a lot on points of view: personally, I have always seen Wendy as a "pure summoner", a character who should base a significant part of his gaming experience in managing his servants (Abigail). For this reason I share the ideas of she resurrect skeletons or other monsters, I find that they are in line with the role that I believe is best suited to her.
Nevertheless, I also understand that there are players who prefer more "complete" characters, with variegated characteristics and disadvantages.
But in my opinion the specialization is important :D

I think Wendy is good as she is now, she might just be boring because some other characters got buffed so strong

Wendy's role is jut like cleaning up the mess at base, defending hounds and farming spiders using Abigail easily

I enjoyed playing as Wendy in such relaxing way, feel comfortable not killing any boss.

 

I dont think she need to be stronger at any part, but any new stuff or mechanics are welcome.

In my opinion, DST is not fun for one character being strong

Hunting Boss now is no longer team fight but SOLO with ZERO DAMAGE TAKEN something like that

 

the fun part of DST for me is all players play and suffer together or enjoy the victory of the team power

Everytime I join a server with a Megabase set up, there is no one there for most the time

 

or Everyone is just busy to take down bosses themselves

show up with glorious drops, enjoy being pro but doing nothing else after then

they will be consuming free easy food and /dance or /sit for days and days

for some who accidentially failed during solo, the server announces their death, credited to the boss,

then they quit silently and secretly( Even I told him I could revive him, maybe this is a shame for a pro )

 

for such games, I always feel boring because there is nothing to do anymore

quitting the server at the end, the dedicated server gonna be reset after few days later anyway

Can someone help me out? I was trying to use Winona catapult to take on dragonfly but noticed I was taking damage from them too, they were literally targeting me. I started out as Maxwell and used the celestial portal to be Winona for a time and make the catapults to then switch back as Maxwell when I took on the dragonfly.

Is PVP on?

If not, sounds like a bug.

Doubling Abigail's hp and dmg isent a good rework. It would be lazy and boring.

I'd propose interesting mechanics.

*Wendy gains sanity from ghosts

*Wendy can revive the dead with sanity

* Can now wear Abigail's flower as head peice, to increase attack power the darker it is. 0.9dmg day, 1.05, Dusk, 1.20 Night.

* Wendy can craft graves!

 

So many fun ideas under her death, and darkness concept. I'd like to see interesting ideas over a boring stat increase.

I love this particular idea. In an ironic twist on her character, her perk allows her to revive her friends easier then others. At the same time, it wouldn't be too far off to believe she would have some powers over spirits

Now this is a great idea too. For when you finally feel confident enough to stop letting Abigail fight for you, you equip her and fight together as one. I love it. Personally I would go for different effects tho other then just a straight attack buff

Ah thanks, I figured if the flower takes up your head slot it should be a powerful effect, but idk what could be. Trade offs make for more interesting gameplay so no insulation or armor on your head means you should have a strong effect. Maybe allow your attacks to haunt the target being like a psdeo fear effect, and let wendy willing haunt things if she has the flower equipt.
