Need Polluted Water. How can I produce it?

Recommended Posts

I was having a shortage of polluted water as well.  I did some searching and found this post:

However it looks like that's been changed.  No matter how many dupes I killed, the only polluted water I got was when they pissed themselves shortly before dying.

My solution was to stop growing pincha peppers, and switch my dupes back to a diet of mostly liceloaf.  I also started channeling some of my CO2 to carbon skimmers instead of exclusively to my slickster farm.

Um... may I ask... why do you need so much?

Because this farm.

showers, natural gas generators, petroleum generators, carbon skimmers, melt some polluted ice, criers, vomiters, toilets, sinks, collect the polluted water pockets around the map

showers: I have

natural gas generators: I have

petroleum generators: don't have

carbon skimmers: I have, but at this moment I'm converting carbon in petroleum

melt some polluted ice: Yes, but have few polluted ice

criers: ???

vomiters: is not sustainable

 toilets: I have

 sinks: I have

collect the polluted water pockets around the map: is ending

Easy solution: destroy that farm.

Difficult solution: double the size of that farm, then destroy that larger farm.

Solution if you want to keep that farm: Keep the farm, but don't send any polluted water to it so that it's basically like you destroyed it.

Solution if you want to keep the farm because it provides additional challenge:  figure it out yourself, I wouldn't want to deprive you of additional challenge lulz.

I think the person referred to dupes with Ugly Crier perk, but i i recall correctly they cry clear water, not polluted one.
Also do you have Algae Distillers? It produces polluted water out of Slime

If you really want to keep that useless farm, you got to make sacrifices. CO2 -> petroleum rate is pretty terrible unless you're using the tepidizer trick/exploit to gasify the oil into natural gas.

One trick not mentioned yet: Food poisoning increases bladder charge rate by 300% or 600% (forgot which). It's 11.7 kg/visit (6.7kg of it is "free", unlike shower which is 1-to-1) and 100% rate means up to one visit per cycle, so at 600s per cycle you get up to ~75g/s or 135g/s per ill dupe. It's not exactly yellow gold, but one dupe being milked can cover one or two pepper plants (which cost ~58g/s each).

If it's 600%, a properly farmed dupe produces more polluted water than a perfectly managed puft. And dupes are renewable, unlike pufts.

@-SchiavoR- If you haven't done so already add flow valves to your plumbing.

With irrigation you don't need to provide the maximum amount of liquid to the plants. You can be stingy and limit them to a few grams per second.

As long as they are receiving some liquid per simulation tick they will grow. This way you might find you already have enough polluted water.

Valve them in groups of three like this and then turn down the flow rate until they stifle. At that point turn up the flow rate again until they are irrigated with the minimum usage,

Edit: Here's the bristle blossom version in action:

@Le0n1des Provided some extra math behind the technique.

"For the most effective water saving - you can set a single valve to 27 gr/sec and feed 3 plants. Sadly, you cannot run more than 3 plants per valve,as each plant has to receive water at least once in 3 seconds"

let dupe die in your water tank and boom! you get of polluted water

Does that still work?  I didn't have much luck with that strategy.  The only polluted water I got was when they pissed themselves before dying.

No. Can't remember exactly when they fixed it but it's at least 6 months ago.

Such a large pepper farm will require berries or wheat to use those peppers.  Food balance is so off that those berries/wheat require HUGE amounts of water so your issue is not "how do I get more PW?" but rather "how do I get more water?".  The answer is:

You Don't.  2 Geysers means there is a upper limit to the amount of peppers/berries/wheat you can achieve unless you want to melt a lot of ice.
