How To Remove Mini Glaciers?

Recommended Posts

This is one of the most annoying features that Klei just refuses to remove or even acknowledge. When Pengulls spawn in the winter, a few mini glaciers are thrown around their breeding grounds. In singleplayer you can simply mine the mini glaciers and they'll disappear until the next winter.

In DST? They're there forever. You wanted to build something close to the shore? Sorry, it's covered in mini glaciers. You made your base close to the shore? Hope you want some unmoveable puddles permanently in your kitchen after a winter or two. You want to do literally anything near the shore? MINI GLACIERS

But it's fine, if you really don't like mini glaciers you can just remove them with the console, right? Nope! They respawn when you reload the world.

Mini glaciers were just fine how they were in singleplayer, I don't get why anybody thought it was a good idea to make them a permanent blemish on your world.

I've never had this problem even when I built near the shore though granted that isn't often and you get a lot of ice and ice stays so there is never a shortage thats pretty good have good filler. Its a piece of ice its not that bad I think your blowing it a little to much out of proportion

I've done so, they never disappear.

My base isn't even that close to the shore... so since when is this bug in the game? Maybe their programmers simply aren't skilled enough to fix this?

All good and dandy, but I want to build stuff next to my flingomatic, not have useless mini-glaciers. Don't derail the subject, I want to remove them not fawn at them.

If things you remove are doing that, it means you're removing something only from your client, not the server. Make sure that whenever you are trying to use a command in a server with caves the console has "Remote" on the left. It's toggled by CTRL, so most people disable it by using CTRL + V to paste commands. The command I use for glaciers is c_select():Remove() while my cursor is on top of the glacier.

I still agree that's annoying and unnecessary to have such a feature though.

"Go and kill raid boss so you can prevent ice from appearing", I don't know why but it's extremely stupid, surely it's overlook and it should work the same as it works in RoG Singleplayer (Dig it, it disappears). Btw endless supply of ice during winter makes this season trival because you can make meatballs very easily. Didn't Klei add Koalefant so you could have source of meat during winter? Why Klei can't fix that? Remove ice from meatballs recipe.

One used to be able to remove mini-glaciers by detonating a pile of gunpowder beside it.

Also, why do you fellows think that having a world littered with mini-glaciers is even remotely pleasant? Excessive abundance of ice is only good if you can't afford to make anything else but meatballs during the first winter. There are plenty other better sources of food that don't take up huge amounts of space and time

Wasn't it a thing that the salad furnace had this aura that repelled the appeareance of icebergs? Might be imagining it, but I believe it was said in a stream.

Firepits (not sure about furnaces) will prevent them from spawning nearby but the radius isnt big enough to protect a large base so you'd have to put up a bunch of them.

Yeah, it's an iceblocker like the firepit.

It only helps against new ones spawning in that the ice won't spawn within 15 units (3.75 turf squares) of it. (ICEBLOCKER_SEARCH_RADIUS)

Here's to laying down a firepit every 15 units (3.75 turf squares) apart in a hexagonal layout.

What if the new sitting emote got it's own part in the new update preview because the main use of it will be to get rid of glaciers!...

By sitting in the puddles and soaking up them up with your trousers.

Ah, that reminds me of this Woodlegs' quote.
