I jetpacked mined the entire map

It was a lot of fun.  Allowed me to go almost entirely AFK instead of micromanaging 4 tile sections.  Now I have 50 degrees CO2 everywhere but I figure I can recover by pumping it into space.

The lag is killing me though.  Any thoughts on how to cure that?

Sweep each material into its own compactor.

Deconstruct all jet pack stations. The more jet packs you have and the more of the map you have dug out using them, the worse the lag gets.

I'm serious. Test it.

Yeah - Fast FPS: No jetpackers, fill 80% - 100% of your empty map spaces and foundations/walls with Neutronium and build a few tube stops in your map :p If youve got a fast single core cpu...Its great fun to play on X: 512 Y: 2048 map size with lots of Neutronium ( instead of X: 256 Y: 384 ).

So interestingly I had an issue with entrances to my base.

If I had 2  different entrances/exits to my base connected ... the game would start to lag

I split the map in half with a wall.... lag disappeared.

Maybe its not just the number of paths, but if the path can loop in on itself?

Yep. Calculating loops is a high load for CPU. As Saturnus already adviced me in other topic - try to use strict monopathing. If there will be only single way between any two points on the map, it will lag significantly less. Fortunately, I using single way out of my base for a long time because it allows me to avoid managing exosuits. So, where out — there in and no lags coused by multipathing.

A little tip, badimo...You can perhaps create a smaller map of 1/4 the default size. Try X: 128 Y: 128. Have a look if it crashes on map seed, if it does its normally just trying a few different values. It could be that one value needs to be 256. For fun you can test 32x32, I think that is or was the minimum.

I play open too :p

Left: 2x 20KW power station, two independent circuits fed by center basin and the connection to the tube network

Lately i started to disable my jetpacks unless i`m building something in space that`s unreachable without unreasonable amounts of ladders. I just enable the jetpacks for the dupes to build it and disable the access door so they have to use regular suits. They actually move faster that way.
