Current Saves in tomorrow's EU update?

Recommended Posts

EU didn't really change anything in terms of the environment so a CU or EU preview save will not cause you to lose out on any new content.

If you are opening a CU established colony though you might need to scramble a bit to build a rec room and/or some of the new higher tier rooms to manage stress depending on what job levels and decor levels you have.

And toilets.  If you're one of those folks who built a minimum number of facilities for a large number of dupes before,  then you'll quickly be swimming in waste.

2 outhouses was good for 16 cups before...what is ratio now (I assume using shifts can help here, so 2 or 3 offset bathroom times might help)

There is a huge difference between outhouses and toilets now.  I'm using 6 toilets for 20 dupes all on the same schedule and it's not even close to being a problem.  When I had 3 outhouses for 10 dupes there was more than one accident due to 2-3 of them becoming full at the same time which is precisely when nobody will try and clean them until the next day.

It's going to depend on your shifts,  but all dupes on that shift are going to want to use the toilets at pretty much the same time

Ok but they won't sit on the pot the whole shift so won't the rest hold it and eat until a vacancy?

I can see outhouses being more of an issue with combined load and work refusals with no shifts to stagger plus cleaning does take a fair amount of time

Your save will work.  Your previous expectations of décor spam saving the day alone will not.  Schedule can be adjusted to keep a few dupes at a time in a cycle to keep from the logjam, and if a cleaner comes by they can 'emergency sit' even during the work cycle.

What's going to be almost impossible to handle in an old, established colony is the stress levels before you can get the changes you need to recover from the change in expectations.  You'll need to drop pretty much everything for two or more cycles to try to get ahead of the lunatic bin you'll suddenly be inheriting.

For anyone else wondering, it is fully possible to use an old save BUT I'd recommend the base not be too far along and your dups can't have been promoted past level 2 or 3 or you are going to have issues.  My base was relatively new and knowing it was coming, I had left space for other things, it's worked out just fine for me, but I quickly discovered I could not promote the dups up the job board without a lot of preparation beforehand to be sure the morale was high enough to handle.  The vital screen helps a lot there.

There was another small EU update that introduced an option for old saves to either turn off morale or to turn it on but also add a 5 cycle transition buff to help you adjust. That buff should make it feasible for almost any save to adjust now. It pops up for any save created prior to that small EU update.
