Your original summer base was probably nothing to be ashamed of; I've had some pretty bare-bones bases myself (sometimes on purpose because I was doing a challenge, but not always...)  Megabases are cool, but sometimes it's _also_ cool to work cleverly with less.  :)

Anyway, where was I...oh yes.  Adventures while building my "strange museum".

140pillarofflame.png.4daf99bd6033d9ea22a81273923e9123.png

Well THAT'S a pillar of flame.  Ya know, if any deities out there want to send me a message, I wish they'd use their words.

141easterinthedesert.png.503a6cdc51d8d4c79c3bc5a7958d193b.png

My "Easter outfit", in-game.  I figured I should probably change out of the winter duds, since it'd been spring for a while at this point.

Background:  The trees I used for my wood needs during the build, provided by Chester's Pinecone Collection.

142suspiciousmeteors.png.cdb1190b33dd6944ddd1f76248178a33.png

Huh.  Should I be worried that there are so many meteor marks together here...and that some of them seem to be in a suspiciously CIRCULAR pattern...?  Any aliens out there, I'm onto you!

(I love how the cat's expression just looks like "I am so DONE with this..."  XD)

Not shown here:  The part during the same spring when lightning kept striking and burning down the burnable parts of my musuem like THREE TIMES.  This caused me to build a lightning rod with a sign next to it that said "LIGHTNING ROD:  Not part of the exhibit; it's just here just to keep everything from burning the (beep) down."  Only I didn't say "beep" on the actual sign.  I was...KINDA annoyed by then.  : P

143grassfishing.png.2725466b4251a13f7c69ce9e8ee4295b.png

Ah yes, grass-fishing.  It's all the rage this summer.

LAST time you hounds attacked me during a sandstorm, it didn't go so well...

sinkholeshenanigans2.png.71ac96677922614ceaf6fae90bff2e7b.png

But come at me NOW, b!@#$es!  (Perhaps literally, 'cos that's actually an old-fashioned word for a female dog...)

144trymenowdogs.png.19d918e92275d17b1901a5d04c6a09b1.png

Yeah that's right.  Didn't think so.

145desertmarbletrees.png.642589d44857d9cfd12039337ba7b5d3.png

And here are the marble trees I also used during the build, for (some of) my fancy flooring.  As you can see Mr. Antony de Leon of Beverly Hills had a MASSIVE snit-fit and knocked one of them down, but it left a bean behind so it's all good.  I got these by whacking the full-size marble trees I already had back home until they gave me two marble bits, then replanted them and took the extra beans with me.

(Yes, I DID feed the kitty, despite it seeming as if it was crying at me for seven days.  I just did it right after the picture in both cases.  : P)

And HERE, is the aerial view of the actual museum:

museumaerialview.thumb.png.e1836c69657b53079c3d954e9c3bde20.png

The FIRST "finished" pictures of it were during the sandstorm, but I realised I'd made a horrible mistake and made it much too narrow.  I couldn't fit the signs in next to the exhibits!  So I had to knock down and rebuild almost ALL of it, and by the time I was done it was well into fall.

Then I realised I'd messed up AGAIN on one half of it, and had forgotten to put in the carpet squares under each display and had also made the enclosures too small, so GUESS what had to be knocked down and rebuilt _again_?  What you're seeing here is the THIRD incarnation of the building.

There's a reason the lightning-rod sign had swearing on it.  : P

museumentrance.thumb.png.f6f50e429bc00741df2cda399feb25ac.png

The entrance, and name-sign.  This would've been an even more appropriate reference if I had been able to show this still DURING the sand storm, but we can't always get what we want.  Anyway, it's still all alone in the desert, where the low and level sands stretch away...

(and yes, I did indeed leave a donation.  Heh.)

museuminterior.thumb.png.ab26a7aea2e2940e1f07e341c4f42d97.png

A nice shot of what it looks like from the inside.

The actual exhibits, put in a spoiler 'cos besides the words it's a lot of really similar-looking pictures:

Spoiler

dollcollection.thumb.png.9f8114dbd32e8d649ad1b2eb895bafc6.png

With the Trinket Variety mod (by JustJasper), I ORIGINALLY had a bunch of gnomes with different skin and clothing colours...but when you move them and put them on a pedestal (thanks to the "End-Table Decor" mod by Tosh, without which all my "exhibits" would've had to be just lying on the floor!), they all turn default again.  Bah.

butnoonecouldimaginewhy.thumb.png.3262e2f1f4a1b66137e7643708e376e0.pngWh

What they're not gonna tell you, on this nice little genteel sign in a classy (?) museum, is that said kazoo first had to be extricated from the Queen's _throat_, where it had apparently been lodged by an angry music critic she'd tried to eat it...?

theprincestentacle.thumb.png.6d2a40a7518c0a2192941266bb206238.png

The Royal Family members' names are all weird on purpose, in case you were wondering.  Heh.

mosaicananspider.thumb.png.a8203d4827f30d1d1b32fa39bf745bc1.png

"Mosaicana" being where my "ruins" were earlier.  CONTINUITY...!  (Also I had to clear out a Spider Queen before I could even start building there, so the "not-so-itsy-bitsy spider" being from there made sense.)  If I were to start putting together a proper "history" here from my build projects, I'd say that the Mystery Ruins Heritage Site was definitely much older, being like early Bronze Age or so, and these people, King Ozymandias and his family, were from more a "medieval" ish time.  The ruins would've already been ruins for THESE people too, in other words.

monkeyspaw.thumb.png.c4ebc54de2bf0b41235de51cae07503b.png

Because it's a Monkey's Paw.  Lel.

We can build all the sandcastles we want, but Time and Tide will inevitably wash them all away...

...no, I didn't completely forget to take this picture as part of the photo session and have to come back a seperate time, when it was daylight and raining!  Whatever makes you think that?

Two!  Two references!  Ah ah ah!

"Professor Amazing" was later found out to be a con artist, upon which he was promptly tarred, rolled in gravel and fed to the Great Lion of the Desert as tribute. The people of this kingdom did NOT take kindly to trolls.

Anyone familiar with legion know how to actually obtain that sword?

20200422220255_1.thumb.jpg.a245ee67ba3d25c52fd6933b5527302e.jpg

I couldn't interact with the moon dungeon at all, I randomly saw this when I went to moon island to do a more thorough run.
How do I get the sword?

You must mine/dig/chop/hammer at that structure on rainy full-moon nights. When you'll do that 5 times, the structure (aka Moon Dungeon) will generate a random phantom boss-level creature, and drop that sword (Refracted Moonlight). Be prepared to fight.

Btw, excellent mod pic, very detailed, balanced, beautiful art. I consider it best server-side mode till now - for people asking, is the [DST] Legion. 2 other fine server-mods I for one recommend as well: Sweet House and Whispering Wisespy.

I LOVE the new clean sweeper thingie!  I can have my pretty new(er) skins on annoying-to-recraft structures!

newbeehouse.png.2e628839b32e2f719e6e6e9e562ccb2e.png

Finally!  I can have my cute new Year of the Carrat bee-house skin without having to knock it down, recraft boards, and RECATCH ALL THE DAMN BEES!  "Why would you want an item like that, it's so frivolous, Klei has more important things to do!  Why not just...make a new one?"  This.  This is why.   We're not just talking make yourself a new axe when the old one breaks.  We're also talking STRUCTURES.  And belongings you have to get rid of before you could have the new one, such as changing Bernie to Ashley (I just did that too!)

And pets.  Charmander here is awesome how she is, but the Clean Sweeper would've been AMAZING back during my "Camp One-Foot-in-the-Grave" days, when Wigfrid had to _abandon_ her original kittykit so I could give her a more winter-warriorly-appropriate Snowkit...

(Why am I talking about how happy I am to _not_ have to recatch bees...but then holding a bug net anyway in this picture?  Butterflies.  I realised I didn't have enough, after several times of MEANING to gather honey and picking a flower instead...)

cleansweptcamp.thumb.png.24caa8c99e68c4a172358a364a4a33d0.png

My "clean-swept" camp!  New dresser, no having to chop 2 boards' worth of extra trees required!  I forgot to apply my circus-themed skin to my thermal measurer when I built it well NO PROBLEM anymore!  Leaf tent?  Let's try it out, and now I don't have to battle more spiders for more silk!  Lovely new adorable retro frosted-glass candle holder endothermic firepit, without having to make electrical doodads!  And I even managed to fancy up my traps out in the field into pretty little wicker baskets without having to use a lot more grass just to make them look different.

I might change the thermal measurer and tent back to how they were (plain and circus, respectively) 'cos I'm thinking that fits my camp's aesthetic (wait, does it HAVE one?  Other than "jumbled and colourful"?) better, and THAT'S okay too!  With this new thingie, you can also _briefly_ try things out to see how they look and then change your mind--again, without having to use up the old one quickly or waste materials!

(Yeah, it'd be awful if someone transformed the gingerbread chests, 'cos I ain't gettin' those back again until next Winter's Feast.  Fortunately I'm the only one here and I was careful not to aim that thing anywhere near the chests, so...)

I was also just delighted in general that EVERYTHING IS OKAY!  My semi-heavily modded world made it to She Sells Seashells without anything breaking!  I was preparing myself to have to start over, but no, everything's fine!  The cherry grove!  The giant Road Trees!  Funkyton, the Mystery Ruins Heritage Site, the King Ozymandias Memorial Museum, my funky little silly camp full of things that don't go together--all fine!  Let me tell you, having had a long-running world completely DIE before due to an update, that was a _relief_.

And now here's a cute picture that has nothing to do with the new skin-related stuff:

walanicherrytreecatbirds.thumb.png.8d1401cde2aa19b65ce2484d4193c08e.png

From the world where I built my "Japanese sand-garden" thingie--Walani the Grim Reaper with a kitty and birdies.  :)

Been practicing the new boss, after a couple successful attempts I think I got the strategy down, but it doesn't hurt to practice this fight more.
Eventually I'll be doing this fight in legit worlds, and as much as I dislike this boss, I know I'll have to fight it for reals at some point, and you know what they say. Practice makes perfect.

I started with using the simple health bar mod to know how effective the strategy was.
Note: I feel abigail only gets in the way of this fight, and I'm doing enough damage with the volt goat jelly on him being wet, which is how I plan to do the fight for real, in spring with the jelly and spice. Also this is Pearl + 8 purple gems.

20200424202729_1.thumb.jpg.ae56968d3ec164b81b53a1257f052813.jpg

I practiced the fight again without the mod, and got him again. It stopped raining mid fight, but thankfully he stayed wet the entire fight, allowing the volt goat jelly to work to its full effect.

20200424205903_1.thumb.jpg.c79b251e4911242b04017100ca8d7ac0.jpg

I plan to practice more, but I have a strategy at least items are ice staves, weather pains, dark swords, volt goat chaud-froid, pierogi incase I take too much freezing damage and darts. I also brought boards and patches.

The darts were specifically for the claws, weather pains stopped his heals, ice staves to cancel his geyser attack and also to give me time to kill the claws, and dark swords to do damage to him.

I dislike this boss, but I know I can do the current "solo strategy for him", going to practice a little more then likely do it for reals in the feast and famine world after some time(that's still in the distant future though)

Haven't tried the new boss yet (I have yet to fight a lot of the OLD bosses, for pete's sake) but I tried loading them and...

campofthefireflies.thumb.png.feb0833c0067736370da5c1acd0d9719.png

cherryforestcamp.thumb.png.3f9ab09544ac452bc4a8a61c48b583e7.png

...BOTH of my other worlds are okay too!  Oh, mygod, this is such a relief.  You don't even know.  Camp One-Foot-in-the-Grave died on Day 613 because a new update to the main game code made a mod it was using incompatible.  All three of these worlds use mods.  So...

But no, Wendy's "Camp of the Fireflies" (do I mean that as a reference to _Grave_ of the Fireflies?  Possibly.  It's definitely depressing enough for Wendy and involves kids dying and starvation, so...) and Walani's provisional "I just need _somewhere_ to live while I'm building, dammit" camp in the Cherry Forest are both fine!  (It's a pretty area, but frog ponds are WAY too close. There's a reason there's traps all around me in this picture.)

Why would I have been worried, when Willow's server is also modded and that one was fine?  Because these both have at least one significant DIFFERENT mod from Willow's world and each other.  Wendy's has the Birds and Berries thing, which is hella old (you can see its presence in the apple trees on the right of the picture) and Walani's uses Thirst (that's why the extra icon that looks like a kidney), which has been known to be...twitchy about changes sometimes.   I actually even played some in Wendy's world; it's now almost winter and I can bust out my NEW BEE-MUFFS, AWW YEAH.  And I helped my first pipspook!  Although a hound attack happened partway through that and I enlisted a random lumpy treeguard who happened to wander by right then.  Good people, that treeguard.  :)

Anyway apparently I'm one of the lucky ones this time and not one, but _three_ of my worlds made it through the retrofit.  Phew.

Alright prepare for a lot of pics.

I did a fair bit of stuff in the Feast and Famine world, starting off with doing ruins, at least killing the ancient guardian, I did the ancient guardian fight without cheesing, as I like to do in my own worlds. Thulecite crowns, dark swords, walking cane and magiluminessence were my items for this fight, I also set up dwarf stars as I dislike relying on the light bulb plants for light.

20200426000549_1.thumb.jpg.8be28c3e65f5e7f7e19896256ef7d324.jpg

His loot was a thulecite club, some thulecite fragments and some thulecite, so sadly not that good of loot.
Speaking of the ruins though, I think this world has some awkward ruins generation, I think the ruins is divided into two seperate zones as this was all I found of the ruins, where the heck is the metheus set piece?

20200426000950_1.thumb.jpg.44ab45f78a3bc6654278cd2b93d12892.jpg

Seriously one military biome, one little area past it and the labyrinth, rest is wilds and village biomes.

Anywho, I had already eated 3 days worth of my autumn and didnt want to eat any more so I hastilly returned to the surface.

Say... Didn't that Erudite lady want a guardian's horn? Ah why not, let's give her one.

20200426002510_1.thumb.jpg.fc7066c5b3dca8e9b06b6b5f2773700a.jpg

In return I got a set of thulecite equipment and a couple new recipes added to my magic tab. I wonder what that invisibility cloak does.

Bearger spawned, I killed bearger, she dropped a new meat, I think the recent update to Feast and Famine does this.

20200426004143_1.thumb.jpg.bf097625d7743cb21c9233ed8a2ead5b.jpg

It's called "Smelly Bear Meat" and all Wendy says is that it smells awful.

and thankfully dries into regular jerky.

That's all for now! Currently planning on making a krampus farm on the moon island and getting a little help from a friend who periodically comes on this world to play, they're playing Wickerbottom, so I figured a birds of the world farm would be alot faster then just using the ol' boomerang method I'm used to. No Glommers will ever be harmed in the acquisition of my Krampus Sack. Birds though? They're fair game. I'm gonna need loads of azure feathers for blow darts for that upcoming crab king fight anyway, so I plan to do the Krampus farming sessions in winter.

Sorry for so many posts in a row! I just have alot to share! >.<

Anywho I did the pearl sidequest in my feast and famine world, managed to get the pearl. Also included a pic where she says the player's name. :P

And for those wondering where the island was, it was just off the shore of Pig King! Not nearly as far as I thought!

20200427230316_1.thumb.jpg.2c96b44359f79fc22bf8110ce706d5fd.jpg

For the tasks to get the pearl I did the following to raise friendship. In spoiler below.

Spoiler

0-3. Upgraded home, had cactus flowers in a bundling wrap.
4. Killed the naturally occuring lureplant that was there.
5. Hung meat to dry, 2 meats and some of FaF's new jumbo drumsticks :P
6. Planted flowers around the bee box, used seeds to keep the butterflies fed for the trip.
7. Planted and fertilized berry bushes.
8. Gave her a flower salad I had bundled with the cactus flower.
9. Cleaned up the junk.
10. Gave her an umbrella shortly after it started raining.

I have yet to find the Crab King and heck, I'm not even ready for Crab King yet, I still need to get all the necessary items I need for the solo strategy I've been practicing. It's almost summertime in the FaF world and I'd like to spend my summer attempting to locate the rest of the ruins in my caves. The search for Crab King(and hopefully a Malbatross too!) will happen during autumn/winter.

Random other stuff that happened while I was (briefly) playing as Nezha from the "Myth Words" mod:

nezhacamp.png.749bb8561a2307ecbfbd0ab237fd4988.png

Just a really pretty, peaceful picture--camping among the trees and delicate little plants.  With a spear, 'cos I don't trust them.  : P

swamptown.thumb.png.d8ea3db941da0cee4aa6e5cfefa24ff2.png

Pig village right on the edge of the swamp?  Yeah, no way THAT could go wrong...

prettybutdeadly.thumb.png.f056487881bc5a641f75d19812668484.png

This place is SO PRETTY...and it's also full of clockworks and I don't have any armour yet bye.

(I did just find random gears lying on the ground the next time I came through here.   Thanks, mystery creature!  (blows kiss))

riversection.thumb.png.393e328233c8fdaac05af0a37f397ec5.png

Where the Rivers Meet.  And cross straight over each other.

However, I think this world was messed up somehow--the mod is supposed to put new stuff into the world but it wasn't showing, and instead we had WAAAAAAAYYYY too many spider nests.  I mean like, in the first week.  No, I hadn't cranked them up to "More"; I would've remembered that...

So I kinda had to trash it and start a _different_ world with still the new "Thirst" mod but NOT the "Myth Words" one, for my Japanese sand garden project to have a cute little stream running through it...otherwise Nezha here might've been the one to build that instead of Walani.  Here's a couple things of interest that happened while I was building the sand garden:

bloodlake.thumb.png.27429a2b063e1ab7d0a93d6ed8fddad0.png

Um...the river seems to be blood.

Should I be worried about this?

(Alternate caption:  "I know it's 'red skies at morning, sailors take warning' but what is it for red SEAS in the EVENING...?")

I DO know what this actually is, of course--it's a side-effect of the turf around the Cherry Forest where it meets the coastline.

thecircleofturf.png.247edc13d26b53b715015409ebe86f88.png

(sings) It's the CIIIIRCLE of tuuuurrf...

Wanna know how many pieces of ground I had to move out of the way and then replace with something else, for the sand garden?  These are STACKS!!  I think maybe one or two of them had like 8 pieces instead of 10, but still...

Oh yeah, the weird gem is a "water gem", it comes with the Thirst mod.  I'm not sure what to do with it and since Walani was working right _at_ a cool refreshing stream the whole time, I didn't have to do anything fancy to keep up her water needs . She just drank out of the stream!  : P

Nah that's DEFINITELY a Vanilla Ice (the rapper) reference.  I was gonna start quoting some of the lines from "Ice Ice Baby", then realised I don't actually know that song that well.  : P  Lemme see...

Spoiler

Yep.  I actually went and looked that up for the reference.  But hey, I LIKE the goofy oldschool '90s stuff.  Why not.  Happy silly good-time stuff.  The resolution on this video is low because it was posted "11 years ago" (!), but even _that_ isn't anywhere NEAR its real age.  This song is from 1990.  We're talking THIRTY YEARS OLD!

(Some of the comments are gold:  "Not gonna lie, Eminem looks very fresh dancing like that."  And for you, ADM, the comment right before that (as of when I saw this, anyway) is indeed...a Jojo reference.)

But Klei definitely likes them their oldschool rap references--look what Wilson says when you examine a hammer:

"Stop!  It is time!  To hammer things!"

So guess what else YouTube recommended to me on the sidebar when I looked up "Ice Ice Baby":

Again, "11 years ago" but actually from 1990. If I got either of these songs stuck in your head or YouTube is now thinking you might like other funky '90s stuff, I apologise for nothing.  : P

If you _haven't_ heard either of these songs (or have heard parts of them but never properly knew their names/artists, which happens to me a lot) well, there you go. You now get a couple more references in DS/T.

So much for the musical interlude.  Back to the screenshots...

sweepingmahtraps.png.31300fe57ddac3c65224c0f538814370.png

Sweepin' mah traps.  Yes, I did indeed change all of them before I _checked_ any of them.  What?  Those bunnies ain't goin' anywhere.

...except the drying rack.

...and then my stomach.

I went on a bit of a shopping spree the other day (which I VERY rarely do) and one of the things I got was a pack I'd been wanting for a while--the "Fledgling" set from the Year of the Carrat.  Because it contains nice-looking skins for common things I actually _use_, ALL THE FREAKING TIME!  I'd been thinking traps needed a skin for quite a while, and these are fancier but still recognisable, and the basic fire?  Like the BASIC basic fire?  Also the gorgeous Nordic basic tools.  (I would've gotten the "Builder" one as well, but I already had the main stuff I wanted from that--the bee-house, and one of the nice new fences and matching gates.)

beewendy.png.1426aa4e6017ae9022c54a2da54a64b6.png

Meanwhile back to Wendy's world...Wendy has figured out the perfect way to be left alone by the angry red bees of spring:  BECOME a bee!

...DAMMIT I should've been holding the _bumble spear_ during this shot instead of a pickaxe!  That would've been perfect!  XD

springingintherain.png.de23dc7340be3dff4fa3fb1e467a56ed.png

Just me and my springtime posse.  (Oh, that poor kitty.  Can you IMAGINE, having _that_ kind of fur all over you, and then it gets soaked? That would suck!)  I had to borrow Willow's old umbrella 'cos the regular one wasn't floofy enough to be worthy of this new bonnet.

Abigali seems to be a bit jealous, by the way--I have seen her physically _move the cat out of the way_ while it was sleeping more than once.  I didn't even know she could DO that!  But seriously it's like "Move over, kitty, I was here first!"  (Then there was the earlier picture where the SECOND I brought Glommer home, Willow's cat used his flower as a bed to "assert dominance". What, is there a follower _seniority_ system I'm not aware of?)

SPEAKING of following creatures...the following was weird as EFF:

mysterysmallbird.png.0beffa07705d39e98177f28b9599e6ea.png

WHAT?!  Where the beep did...WHAT?!  I'm not kidding you, I went over here and suddenly POP! from the bottom edge of the screen, and this baby smallbird just...existed!  And then it was even following me around!  I swear to gods, _there is no tallbird nest nearby_.  At all.  Not even the right biome for it, or NEAR the right biome for it.  I know what's off the bottom of this screen very well, because it's part of the _long_ route I have to take to get to the nearest rockland!  Which ALSO has no tallbirds!

It's like the game went "Hey, you seem to be pretty good with all these creatures that follow you around...have another one!"

Well, you popped in at EXACTLY the wrong time, Morsel.  There's a _reason_ I'm wearing logs and carrying a fluffy spear.  A loud, barky, bitey reason.

This is possibly the _cutest_ confusing glitch I've seen in a long time!  Maybe the Oasis Catcoon was more so...but I don't think I'd call that a glitch.  More like, "The worldgen was somewhat confused while trying to retrofit an entire new desert and oasis into an already 400-day plus world.", and the birch trees together = possible catcoon den part of the code got triggered.

Well, THIS isn't spooky-looking at all... (Seriously, what a lovely Halloweeny shot this makes!  I should try to arrange this with pumpkin lanterns at some point.)   Nice to see my specially-planted twiggy trees are coming along so well.

It seemed unusually warm for spring the night before, so I made a thermal measurer to confirm and...sometimes I hate being right...

Yep.  Summer on Day 26.  We had a normal fall, JUMPED straight over winter and then an only 5-day spring.  Yep.

(Sometimes I love the timing/placement of the random tooltips.  "Walk to Wet Lumpy Evergreen".  Um, it's kind of on fire so...I'm good.)

My god, LOOK at this posse I got following me now! There would've been _six_ of us if Morsel had lived...

ABIGAIL:  So, whadda we do now, sis?

WENDY:  (throws petal) What?  Did you whisper something?

...Notorious

Spent another summer in the feast and famine world caving. Took a few pics. Desperately looking everywhere in hopes there was more ruins gen, but alas, what I showed last time was literally the entire ruins it turns out. What a bummer, especially since that means LITERALLY NO METHEUS SET PIECE. Ugh.

Anywho onto the pics.

Random rock lobster clipped out of bounds.

Found the Atrium too, fully mapped it out aswell. The first tentapillar I checked was atrium. I made sure to mark it.

Oh and I just wanted to show as proof that the metheus set piece doesn't exist in this world, I double checked via the console using countprefabs. I checked for the prefab "sacred_chest" which is the ancient chest in the metheus set piece.

It counted 0. Note hutch counts 1 as I have hutch with me.

Ever have a world where not only are your ruins really freaking tiny but the world forgot how to spawn the metheus set piece?
