Will there ever be Shipwrecked Multiplayer

There should be a pinned thread addressing Shipwrecked Together questions. The problem will only get worse with Hamlet's release. (Will we ever get Hamlet together?)

I don't think we will get Hamlet or SW together for a long time if we even ever do. It would take a lot of work to implement and require much more from dedicated servers (A third shard for SW or an expanded overworld for it and caves/volcano would take a lot more system resources. There are still some servers not even running caves!). At best we may see an event using mechanics from these expansions but I doubt we will see them included in the base game.

There is a mod being made (I believe called "Island Adventures") which aims to port/rework shipwrecked for a multiplayer environment. I think Klei is ok with the project. If so we may get a SW themed experience from the modding community.

Maybe eventually one day IA will get released. Possibly. When the stars align. On a blue moon.

In all seriousness, Island Adventures is a mod collab being worked on that'll essentially port Shipwrecked to DST. It won't be a 100% perfect recreation, but I have high hopes that it'll be a pretty dang good mod.

In the meantime if you just want some Shipwrecked CONTENT without the actual sailing around part...there's mods that do that in differing ways.  One of my favourites is Multi-Lands/Megarandom.  You need to have both mods subscribed and activated to make it work properly, and there's a bit of reading instructions, but once you DO...

Um...hi...kitties..?  (And notice it's only Day 3, that's how quickly I found some Shipwrecked stuff.)

And that's only one example.  Mind you, this mod can be HELLA deadly, so be careful about the world-generation settings before you use it.  If you just want to see Shipwrecked sand, jungle, trees, and maybe some creatures but not run headfirst into a random Ewecus or cave/ruins creatures right on the surface, the second you turn a corner?  Well, the default mod settings ARE like that, so...  And if you want the Shipwrecked CHARACTERS, there are multiple mods for that and I've been using one of them for a year and a half now with no problems.  :)

EDIT:  However, if you're on a console...none of the above stuff I said applies and please forgive me for being dumb.  Eep.

We're still working on it, and there's more than just tile generation. We got the crafting recipes, sailing mechanic, mobs, etc. Just ironing out the bugs on it so we can launch a public alpha in a playable state. (The alpha won't include stuff like SW character, balance changes, and possibly treasure hunting just yet either, so that's just a heads up.)

Oh sweet I'm really glad to hear it's not dead.

If in the future you need some help playtesting feel free to hit me up kek. I don't know lua all that well but I've played the game for a while now so I may be able to offer some help.
