FlexibleGames
I've played a few games now and am pretty far in a new Youtube series, and was wondering what everyone does with the chlorine that seems to be abundant around the 'easy' starting location? As far as I know it has no "use", can't purify water, etc. I know it's a heavy gas and should sink, but I'd rather not have my dupes breathing the stuff. loboflex
The chlorine isn't any more dangerous than CO2 at the moment, so you don't need to worry too much about the dupes' health around it. I don't have any really good early game solution other than letting it float around on top of the CO2, although I suppose you can try to pump it somewhere else if it's in the way. I've usually just tried to build somewhere else until I've had the means to dispose of it. As a later game solution, the cholrine liquidizes and freezes about as easily as CO2, so building an isolated room, cooling it to about -100°C and then pumping in the chlorine will get it out of the way for the rest of the game, as far as I know. Twitchi
I pump it into a rock box untill I have the tech to freeze it and feed it to hatches

The best solution for chlorine is to feed it to a morb. They can consume co2 and chlorine, and produce polluted o2 that you can purify if you have a cold hydrogen setup or some good wheeze wort design. I still don't get why people assume Morbs consume anything at all. Pufts clearly show what it looks like when mass is being removed.

It isn't an assumption, if you look in the code every time a morb produces polluted o2 they also look for a source of co2 or chlorine in their tile and if available remove some of it, as if they are consuming it. No. They look for somewhere that isn't clean to fart in. They then emit mass into that cell which displaces or destroys the mass if the concentration of contaminated oxygen is large enough to pressurize it out of existence. Good to know, so given enough time in a pressurized cell they would destroy the chlorine nonetheless and remain an efficient way to handle it. loboflex
....To continue my post, you didn't ask for it but here's a quick and dirty image showing one way to build cold storage for your chlorine and CO2. There are probably better ways to go about it and it takes a while for the room to get cold enough, but it works. Not shown: You should probably pump out any oxygen or polluted oxygen out of the room before you start cooling it down, so you only have hydrogen in your ducts. Oh, and this is a lot easier in a cold biome than a warm one, since those regulators tend to overheat a lot.
Lafara
I (think) I cool it into liquid Chlorine. then use that liquid to to cooldown Coal Generator outside Ice biome. but the cooling technique is quite messy .... since we cannot use Thermal Regulator to cool Chlorine gas down to -34.6 C in pipe directly. However, Wheezeworts actually can make it cold enough to liquefy.
DonDegow
There is an idea that I wanted to try out to store any gas in the most efficient (and easy) way. I'll give it a try this evening and come back to you.

fonyo
Chlorine storage. Will try to liquify or solidify it later...
Lafara
totally NOT working. CO2 liquid temperature range is too short. the idea of preserving CO2 / Chlorine in liquid form for coolant system is NG. but I found some interesting bug (Shh.....) the CO2 / Chlorine gas in which liquify inside gas pipe goes into Thermal Regulator .... deal Freezing Element Damage .... machine Broken .... ALL CO2 / Chlorine vanish inside broken machine without by product.

Technically you can delete these from the game by merely mopping the liquid up if you don't mind sending someone into these cold areas. Cooling is very easy now since one thermo regulator is only needed for getting any gas as cold as you want.
DonDegow
As I promised, here I am; my test was successful I posted it here : If you don't want to check it out, here it is for short; just build a sealed area with pipes in the corners (staircase ftw), fill these with chlorine, deconstruct, repeat.
