blitz4
Monsters are still way too easy. After the latest update, werepigs now simply take longer to kill, just like the other mobs. If I drop some seeds, that werepig is toast. Everybody dies to tentacles, but they aren't harder to kill at all, they just take longer to kill. If you're wearing proper armor, have a tentacle spike/spear, monsters don't pose any threat - right now, I'm more scared of the winter than anything else.We seriously need a new mob that forces us out of our comfort zone. A ranged monster! Now there'll be a reason to craft a boomerang and carry it around with you at all times! And not one that only comes out once a year. WRay
I do very strongly agree. Don't Starve is full of too much neutrality. You can avoid almost half the mobs in this game by simply remaining idle.

WRay
Sir, look at the date on this post.I am still referring to the current game. Mobs are too easy to kill when given the correct resources. Most of the time, I don't even kill the mobs personally. It's all about beefalo and pigmen. Spider queens aren't aggressive enough; you only need a few tentacles/pigs/beefalo to kill them without getting a scratch on you. I conquered a Deerclops with only 3 pigmen, a herd of beefalo, and a fire dart. I'm only on day 46 and I'm waiting to jump worlds on the next update. Let's face it, Don't Starve is pretty easy when you can just exploit the use of other mobs. I've seen spider queens crawl to their deaths in a swamp biome, and all I had to do was be present during the spawning.

Ardcurai
Yeeeeeah, but surprisingly enough, when you get the grasp of the game, everyone does pretty much the same, right? That's what needs some tweaking, you can do whatever you want, but the best way of surviving is pretty much one. Or two, depending on what you find on your map. Little variety of options, though it would seem you have lots. Don't you think?
Danwood
I agree. Hounds are definitely a good idea, but we need more alive and less scripted monsters wandering the land and living their lives, like wolves, bears, lions and possibly their prays, which occasionally may include the player

ArcticFox789
When he played, hounds weren't in the game...The problem with attack events is that you need "always" be prepared, can't do nothing else them wait for them in order to not die...= more turtling...Who cares if players turtle. Then they just miss out on what makes the game fun. EXPLORING AND DYING! Edited March 8, 2013 by ArcticFox789 Grammar -.-

Danwood
What makes the game fun is exploring a world full of dangers, not your home garden. There must be the necessity to undertake an effort to safetly explore, meaning equipping yourself, gathering supplies and weapons, in order to enjoy the reward which is exploration -> new stuffAnother tactic should be just gathering the basic stuff and turtle in your base, making it nearly unsiegeable. And exploring only for shord amount of times when you feel it is safe. The game should be playable in different approaches, that's the reason we need more dynamism: winter introduced a big chunk of this, i hope more animals and dangers will follow. thenotoriousmrbaker
in the next patch, 20% of your health gets tied up in each effigy that you create. You get this health back when the effigy is destroyed or you use it. So if you want one effigy, you have at max 80% health. If you want two, your max health is 60%. If you build a fifth effigy, you instantly die and respawn in one of your effigies, with a maxium of health of 20%.nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
thenotoriousmrbaker
I'm surprised this page hasn't gathered more interest or views, Frankly i think its because its hidden away somewhere. Just saying. You guys should really open up the sandbox mode to game mechanics, so that those of us who like effigies can use them.
Dreage
Meat effigy takes 20 hp per effigy. So if you have 2 if you are anyone but wolfgang or wes you are at 60 hp. Also i am at day 157 and the packs of 15 hounds, 5 reds and 10 blacks are actually really tough. If it wasn't for the beefalo's protecting me so i could set up a 30 tooth trap square i would probably die multiple times. The deerclops also will ruin your base in the winter. He will destroy your effigies and manipulators, then he will proceed to attempt to kill you. I do think the deerclops is to easy late game, but early game he is a real ass hole. Then last, but not least you have spider queens. So if you didn't farm all the silk before those spawn then have fun trying to defeat them when you have not found a pig camp yet. I think the game does get too easy when you are experienced at it, but it took me 21 tries "10 of them were from me thinking adventure mode winter ends" i finally was able to set up a steady base, and get a steady food supply without spawning krampus to take all my **** trying to survive off rabits during the winter. There needs to be more late game bosses for sure. Like if you hit day 100 they should double the damage on normal mobs, and increase the speed / ai on them. Elephants are WAY to easy to kill, but they have killed me in the past. Spiders are completely fine, don't mess with them. Deerclops eye needs to be more useful for how much of an ass he is. So that is my input on it anyways. Also they should do more things like the grue hands coming in and putting out your fire. Stuff that makes it so you can't just sit by fire at night and actually run away from the safety of your base is good design in my book. Uh, well from what Ive read not much has changed combat wise, RoG addes 3 more bosses which pose threats because they have some range and deerclops has an aoe now (idk if thats vanilla or not though) Also depth worms, I hear they're a challenge.
