Gold needs autostack component

I find the autostack weird anyway. When living through a hound attack, having to collect less meat than I saw drop at first usually throws me off.

I wouldn't mind having autostack on gold, but I wouldn't mind if it was removed altogether either.

I'll admit, this is annoying. I used to craft lazy foragers to go to pig king with whenever i'd have like 900 trinkets via tumbleweeds to throw at lord bacon's snoot for currency, but now I just hold down spacebar and while I'm doing that sort out the rest of my inventory to make room for the next 10 stacks of gold. But I don't think it needs autostack, It'd make mining gold boulders rather funky and meteor fields would have spontaneous gold 20 stacks sitting around. Same goes for the caves, you'd go to pick up 1 gold and end up with a stack of it.

If you have tons of trinkets to turn in, then just ask a friend or two to assist in collecting all of the gold.

Or you could likely just get some moleworms to help ya out. Drop a few around the pig king, let them pickup the gold then go dig up their burrows to get the gold back.

This. Moleworms are happy to take anything like that. Useful for base tidiness underground. They will also clean up sweets from Hallowed Nights!

What you can do is make your dst as windowed mode, hold down your spacebar, use your mouse to click anywhere outside window (make dst window inactive), leave your spacebar. Then you can afk for while, and wait for it to auto collect all the gold.

I'm simply amazed how arrogant most of you are. I appreciate the way you want to show off to make someone else look like a noob compared to you when he's seemingly complaining about the game being "too hard". It's not about being hard, it's about being boring (and the game is supposed to be interesting, right?). Yeah, obviously you can ask your friend or neighbouring moleworms to help you out, but either way you will have to spend a lot of time near by pigking (because moles won't gather minerals offscreen). On the other side, autostacking works offscreen. Also, having a lot of entities rendered one by one in proximity to each other negatively affects performance, just like stack of 1-10 rots spread all across the world on public servers did before autostacking was added. You don't seem to be complaining about autostacking of rot, do you? Also, game is not something you can't change for your own convenience. So why bother looking for workarounds if you can just ask devs to change it? As for the sake of being able to keep gold lying on the ground without stacking, I think autostack can just be applied only if gold is lying around pigking.

I'm not sure where this is coming from.

They're just posting current possible ideas to solving your problem.

 

As for adding the component I'd be pretty much all in favour of having any resource autostack nearby resources if only to lower the burden of server costs.

But in the time being the mod API is also another route to fixing this by merely:

Though the stacker requires that the items be stationary within 0.0 to 0.1 seconds, and as such the pig king's gold will not be clumped with this code.

 Wow. All that hostility felt like it just came out of nowhere. We were just trying to help with your problem and offer alternative solutions. Calling everyone arrogant was a little unnecessary don't ya think?

In the first place, spamming pig king with a hundred trinkets is not a need. So if you feel it's that boring just don't do it? If you want to get 500 gold pieces you will need to use a minute (or a half) of your life holding spacebar. If you think it's not worth just don't give PK so many trinkets in a row.

People came here giving you super friendly advices or options. Be grateful with them and don't share your questions/opinions if you can't take the possible answers like an educated person.

I guess people here are offering "fix" because as you say, you need devs to change it. So they can't control it. You can't control it. And since a change could take time, it could be useful for you to have an alternative.

It doesn't stop you for asking dev to change it, your topic still exist and you can post on it. But if you need an immediate solution, you have some, even if not perfect. It doesn't prevent a better one to be added a day.

Just use a lazy forager like Weirdo said if you insist on being so lazy...

Or even better, why not just make a mod to let gold be autostacked? Cause some people are opposed to the idea from what I can see...

I just think its a bad idea. Unlike monster meat or rot, gold has use in not autostacking.  Its not that I don't think it's big enough deal for the devs to fix, or that OP should just stop being lazy. I think its a bad idea (no offense meant) and I would actually be disappointed if they implemented autostacking for gold.
