Purpose of Marble Sculptures

Recommended Posts

I found 1 purpose for the mysterious marble structures. Maybe it is not the only one but this is what I found so far.

Once all marble structures are repaired, wait for a full moon.

Clockworks structures will become actual clockworks.

Rooks structures will become actual rooks.

Bishops will become actual bishops.

It is basically (I think) free gears you get in late game after having travelled long distances and waited enough.

Yeah I really hope they'll change the marble statues. Putting all that effort into getting the marble pieces to the statues and waiting for full moon just to spawn regular clockworks is not really worth it. I was playing on a server of a twitch stream yesterday and everyone was expecting something special to happen after carrying the pieces all the way to the statues and just having clockworks spawn was kind of anticlimactic.

Yeah, but, both taming a beefalo and the marble toting is entirely pointless for me. In my new world's I'll just leave the marble pieces where they are, and leave the beefalo alone as I don't ever feel like going through the effort of taming them.

I honestly wish that they wouldnt just turn into regular old clockworks. Im disappointed by it. My friend and i spent some time getting a statue together, waited at it and... full moon comes, statue gone, instant bishop there. Kind of disappointing.

Im guessing they will add some animation later on. (And im secretly wishing it would spawn a marble creature instead.)

You can ride them before they're fully tamed, they just kick you off. Just locate all the marble heads and statues, make a saddle, feed a beef a stack of sticks or something, then run around and collect all the pieces. Then you can just keep the beef by base until he shakes off the saddle.

Oh yeah, I know. But for me, I just pose a simple question: Why. I set up huge bases, but I never really need that many gears for anything at all, nor should I waste the materials for kind-of-taming a beefalo. I'd rather walk around the desert for gears, I quite like chasing tumbleweeds and getting mountains of twigs and grass. I never have to make farms for materials any more because of tumbleweeds, I usually just have about 3 chests full of nothing but grass and twigs. (Until someone uses it all on something stupid)

Well... This is beta, right? We're not even getting the full picture yet. So this is mere set up.
