mrlove
Even if you set all resources to low in world generation options, you won't have any problem to survive, especially you will never starve (provided you know the mechanics). Farming is pretty pointless because it is very easy to get food from many other sources. For example you only need 6 rabbits a day to cover your calories (Wilson). So in doubt just set up 6 rabbit traps directly over rabbit holes and gather rabbits one time a day (even in winter). If you can kill them in 2 minutes, your naughtiness won't increase either (6 minutes for naughtiness to drop from +6 to +0 by 1 per minute; it's far too easy to avoid Krampus). There is no point in drying food or putting it in the ice box. You don't even need to bait the traps, and it would be pointless too because baiting with berries or carrots would result in the exact same amount of calories in the end (12.5 after cooking). You will always have enough flint and enough stone, and you will have much more gold than you could ever use. You don't even need the pig king for gold. And log suit and spear are enough for attack and defense (maybe add the football helmet). So basically there are no rewards for many things you can do in the game (I'm aware of adventure mode and caves, but this doesn't change anything about above points)
jbeetle
Correct. After you know the ins and outs of the game, there's no challenge. Up until then, it's fun.
The Letter W
I suppose it's time to start making challenges for yourself, eh?
myfault
go to freaking ruins after day 100, set deerclops and hounds to lots (and other agressive mobs like spiders, tallbirds, killer bees) and then try to clear the world of these creatures. with enough imagination you will always fing a goal in this amazing game (i just make my base bigger, bigger and bigger)
the truthseeker
Up the monstrous enemies or play on Default Plus or do what was listed above. Respectfully, you've likely not played the game for months and unlocked all its secrets let alone its more difficult challenges. Even though it's named "Don't Starve," it's more than just not starving. Why don't we start with something "simple:" Consider replying to this again only when you do EVERYTHING exactly shown in their official trailers. (I'd love to see your fire playing and party planning,) Tell me: How easy THAT was to do when you (finally) do?
ViridiZant
Please, I just FINALLY made it to winter, i've died hundreds of times, i've only found eyebones twice, i've only made it to 14 days before this game, I've never been underground or in ruins, and I've never made a "decent" base.I am the ultimate noob. Kellyc764
Well atleast I'm not alone! lol You're complacent with your current set-up, you've got the means to survive forever, awesome. But it's only as much fun as you make it, heck from day 20 I've got my set-up sorted. That however didn't stop an unfortunate turn of events during my last play-through that saw my farms burnt to the ground by hounds, deerclops breaking my ice box, and 3 rogue werepigs chasing me in the middle of day (I'm sure that has to have been a bug). It's a different experience everytime, and perhaps it's the panic in those situations that lead us to do better, have better set-ups, and polish our gameplay until we're invincible.... And this is where the warm up for the new DLC kicks in
kraken121
once you learn the game, it is "easy" not to have permadeath, various ways to keep you alive. But bad/unlucky things can happen, like a deerclops atttacking ur fort and destroying everything at the same time as a hound attack (my last game) luckily i had another meat effigy at camp 2 on other side of the world. The game starts to get more challenging once you get into the caverns and ruins, but once u get the hang of it, it does get a lot easier, but thats most games in general You are right on the rabbit thing, but try playing in a larger world, i only play in huge worlds and i always have to make 2 to 3 day trips out of my first base, come back, stock up on foods, then run out again to caverns, ruins etc
oCrapaCreeper
Then play as Wes. Hell, try unlocking Wes to begin with.
Ridley
I am playing without the meat effigy. I fear at any random moment a cheap death will appear like when i first started playing this game.
kraken121
I am playing without the meat effigy. I fear at any random moment a cheap death will appear like when i first started playing this game. Cheap deaths happen, there is no reason not to have an effigy up just for that reason. As i said earlier, i had a deerclops and hound atk about almost the same time, that happens heh
toasterman3000
Well I still find it fairly challenging. Especially adventure mode.

As i said earlier, i had a deerclops and hound atk about almost the same time, that happens heh I had a deerclops, mac tusk, krampus attack once. Its actually very easy. The problem sorts itself out. But I am not using the meat effigy because its a self made challenge. Not because i want to experience cheap deaths.
SamLogan
An other exploit is a to kill spider with trap, you need no weapon and no armor.
kraken121
An other exploit is a to kill spider with trap, you need no weapon and no armor. I think this is WAI not an exploit, just an alternative way of dealing with spiders.
emerphish
Just play a world long winter night only as willow. If you can thrive, then you need to show us that.
Parrotoss
I have a bad habit of setting up a first base always near beefalo for the extra protection against hound attacks. Doesn't matter if I have the means to fight back and stand on my own--it's always beefalo.

oCrapaCreeper
nah that's literally impossible. No food or light... If you set the world preset to Lights Out, you start near a campfire and get a starter chest with basic stuff. Very possible.
