I'm all for the flag thing to recognize what language you speak.

*Imagines a 'Murican flag under the eyebone*

What about people from other countries that speak English?

Does a Amadiopestrailian flag exist? XD

Anyways, I'm all for a multiple-language forum. Seems like some people are having trouble figuring everything out using Google Translate.

Uummm.... Use the flag of their country. If you're british you use the British flag. If you're 'Murican (Like me) you use the 'Murican flag.

(I can't stop using 'Murica instead of America. I love it so much and I will never stop and it will always be one of my many things.)

(Unless a mod or admin tell me to.)

@JoeW I'm not sure if Arcticfox talked to you, but me and him had an idea to create a forum/Don't Starve award show

The Golden Hameys, as that might fall under "Spotlight" things.

Assuming we can all do this without ArcticFox, which is why we need JoeW and Company more than ever now.....

Flags would help I think. It would be a big indicator but it would at least be something to show that maybe this person's first language isn't English.

... English is my only language and I still manage to botch it up pretty bad.

And then there are these posters. What do you do when they list it's pointless, we know they speak English but, well...post that kind of thing over and over again? Is there a point ignoring no longer is a valid thing? Sorry for making Mack a target but he did paint an awfully big bulls-eye.

I am leaning away from actual flags, because I don't want it becoming nationalistic. It isn't about where you are from, but more of a way just a way to remind others to cut them some slack.

This is pretty important to me. Many forums segregate people from other regions out. Or just exclude them from the conversation because of the community issues it causes, like we have seen. I think if we can introduce something like this, it would be nice.

I know of some individuals here, who speak english quite well, but because it is their second language, it seems abrupt at times. And they come off more rude than I think even they realize. This might address that as well.

Absolutely. However in it's current form, I can't really get involved. But I certainly think there is a great opportunity there for you guys to get together and make something cool.

I have been thinking about that for a while now. The problem is, there are some completely pointless threads that you guys like, and some that you don't. And I can't be selective about which I allow and which I don't.

Since day one of the off-topic section there have been nonsense threads. The rules of the off-topic forums specifically addresses them.

At this point, I highly just recommend that if it's a thread that you don't like, move on. (That's my general advice for pretty much anything on the forums as well)

In some sites, don't certain flags represent certain languages? Like I think some of them have UK = English and so on, but yeah I can see your point. Maybe they get E2 under their name or something, I don't know.

So a language box and instead of a small-font word, you have a little flag suggesting the language (like it's done on websites when you choose a language to show the site in.)

Time for opinions!

1- I can definitely tell that the spam situation is a lot better than it once was. We haven't had a massive outbreak of bots in a while now.

2- That might be neat, but I'm also fine with the way the forum is right now, so I don't really feel strongly one way or another.

3- I've never used the ignore feature, so I can't really speak on how well it works right now, but I have heard that it's not very good.

4- I don't mind my moderator account being the one I post normally from, but I could see why a potential moderator would like that sort of option. As for how new moderators are chosen, aside from the old method used in the past, I'm not entirely sure.

5- If you decide to add a front page, this could be a nice addition to that. I don't really have any objections to that at the moment.

6- I'm not sure how I feel about separating the forum like that, and it would definitely require some multilingual moderators to handle those sections, but I'm also certain that there are some Klei fans that can't speak English or don't know it very well. As for adding flags, there's a different forum I visit that has tiny flags on the lower left corner of their posts. It generally doesn't cause any problems over there, but I had on occasion seen those flags become a factor in heated arguments that became personal.

I don't quite like the idea of flags, language bubbles or something like that. While creating language specific (or language agnostic) subforums would split the community at some level, this kind of branding would do so at a much deeper level.

Overall, I think the idea of making this special section for foreign languages is nice. It'd mostly cater to those who don't feel very comfortable posting in the "regular forums", so it'd be much more inclusive than otherwise.

Can I post rambling semi-pornographic threads in badly written native speaker's tongues there too? :p

(Okay, back to being good.)
