Developer JarrettM Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM Developer Share Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM Friends, grab your floaties... ...it's release day for The Aquatic Planet Pack! This DLC features a plethora of pool-dwelling critters, flooded flora and submersible buildings...and Duplicants who learn to swim for the very first time in ONI history! The Aquatic Planet Pack plunges colonies into the deep end of a marine world of kelp forests and coral reefs, where expanded aquatic ranches cater to cuisine and construction projects alike, and clams grow bigger than Duplicants. There are brand-new biomes, plants, resources, foods and buildings, plus two new recruits—including one who's unnaturally well-adapted to the environment. (And needs to be convinced to join you.) Don't miss the exclusive collection of cosmetic blueprints that helps colonies present a nautical facade, even if they haven't quite found their sea legs yet! Explore underwater ecosystems that unleash new possibilities for power systems, and master the art of keeping your colony's head above water when dry land is as scarce as Duplicant brain cells. (It's okay, their crewmates know CPR.) Whet your appetite for this wet new world with the new short here! The Aquatic Planet Pack can be purchased for 9.99USD and is available now on Steam, WeGame and Epic. If you own more than one DLC, shake things up by using the Scramble DLC tool when making a new game! It works for The Aquatic Planet Pack as well as past and future additions to the ONI universe. Special thanks to long-time modder Aki, with whom we collaborated on parts of this DLC! The base game also gets a free update today! Duplicants will perform CPR on incapacitated crewmates when they have suffocated. Eye Irritation now produces a Stress penalty instead of Athletic penalty. Duplicants now have a Stamina debuff when moving through substantial liquids. Breath is now displayed as a simple integer rather than a percentage (like Health). Flatulent Duplicants will now produce bubbles when farting in liquid. Added Stamina penalty to Soggy Feet and Sopping Wet effects, and reduced Stress penalties. Duplicants with low Breath consumption and high Breath will not show a pained expression while submerged in liquid. Fleeing Duplicants now trigger a red notification. Duplicants exhaling underwater will now do so in the form of bubbles. Added Near-Death Experience status for Duplicants who recently recovered from being incapacitated. Critter changes Eggs from any Pacu species no longer drop eggshells. Reduced Pacu Egg mass and its Raw Egg kcal yield. Reduced Pokeshell and Sanishell food required per cycle. Increased Pokeshell Molt drop mass. Increased Sanishell’s Sand conversion rate. Increased Pacu Polluted Dirt output from Algae and Seed diets. Wild Critters will now display Happiness, Critter Metabolism, Body Temperature, Reproduction, Brackene Supply, and Accu-moo-lation values in the Condition Panel of the Details Screen. Reduced the strength of the Wildness reduction effect provided by the Fish Feeder. The Critter Feeder now provides a comparable Wildness reduction effect to the Fish Feeder. Eating from the Fish Feeder no longer gives critters a Happiness bonus. The Reproduction speed bonus for Tame and Happy critters is now proportional to the specific Happiness value they have. The threshold for the "Mood: Happy" status item has been adjusted to +1. Pacu Treat provides a Happiness bonus to Pacu. Many seeds can be converted to Pacu Treats at the Microbe Musher. Non-fish critters no longer include fish in their overcrowding calculations. Pacu Fillet is now named Fish Fillet, to more accurately reflect the fact that it can be produced by aquatic critters other than the Pacu. Unhappy Shine Bugs no longer produce light. Reduced visual brightness of Shine Bugs. Tepidizer changes No longer consumes power when operating above maximum liquid temperature. Added “Turbo Mode”, which lets the Tepidizer operate at a higher wattage, produce more heat, exceed its maximum temperature, and boil small amounts of the fluid it’s immersed in. Animation, Status info, and Power requirements will adjust automatically to reflect Turbo Mode being toggled on/off. Buildings Space Heater's Heat Production status info and Power requirement now adjust dynamically to reflect the wattage currently selected on its Power Consumption slider. Fish Release can now be placed several tiles above the liquid's surface and still function. Art has been adjusted accordingly. Fish Feeder and Fish Release buildings are no longer breakable by liquid pressure. Fish Feeder and Fish Release now work when submerged. Fish Drop-Off is now sized 3x1 instead of 2x1 to match the Fish Feeder and Fish Drop-Off. All building tiles are now more resistant to breaking from liquid pressure. Mucin can be used instead of Water in the Plant Pulverizer's Brackene recipes. Mucin can be used as an alternative to Water in Mush Bar and Liceloaf recipes. Added Corallium to the Lime recipe at the Rock Crusher. Significantly reduced Beach Chair work time. Consolidated the “Transparent” and “Glass” building material categories into a single "Glassy" category. Valid materials include Glass, Diamond, Pearl, and Amber. Solid resin and Solid Sap no longer belong to these categories. Building a Critter Fountain now requires Glass, in addition to its normal Refined Metal requirement. Desalinator can now process Polluted Brine into Polluted Water. Renamed the Brackwax Gleaner to simply Gleaner, to allow for additional liquid conversions to be performed by this building. Renamed the Water Fort to Aquatic Critter Condo to be easier to find in the build menu. The Aquatic Critter Condo is no longer operational when there is no foundation. Algae Terrariums will expel Oxygen in the form of bubbles if submerged. UI/Database Added hovercard strings that show pool size and aquatic critter count when hovering over a liquid pool in the Room overlay. Ctrl-F on the Research Screen will focus the Filter search bar. Added Table Salt to the sandbox Spawn menu. Added SFX when Database, Research, and Build menu search bars gain focus. Dig Tool now has a checkbox filter for uprooting plants and digging natural backwall. Added a new building category "Submergible" for buildings that can operate in liquid without flooding. Added mood-related molting information to database entries for Oakshells and Slogos. Improved element conversion information display for buildings that accept more than one type of input: Input options are now displayed under the heading "Inputs" in the Requirements section. Outputs are shown nested under their input heading in the Effects section. Liquid pressure damage now takes into consideration liquid pressure from the opposite side of a wall, so tiles surrounded by liquid will not be damaged as easily. Algae now dissolves into Oxygen when submerged in Water and exposed to sufficient light. Underwater objects now become more visible when they are closer to the center of the camera frame. Skills Added a 3rd-tier Cooking skill called Fine Dining. Renamed Grilling II to Enhanced Seasoning. Moved Gas Range and other advanced cooking stations into Enhanced Seasoning. Waterweed: Removed Bleach Stone fertilization requirement. No longer wilts when fully submerged in liquid. Increased the Irrigation mass requirements. Minor art revisions. Sounds Added sound for mining guns being used while submerged in liquid. Polluted Water, Salt Water, and Brine have new sound ambiences. Recipes that are POI-unlocked can now appear in fabricator sidescreens, even if their required resources haven't yet been discovered. Mesh and Airflow Tiles previously allowed only sunlight to pass through them - they now also allow light from other sources to pass through. Changed the UI color of Brackwax to be more similar to the color of the pickupable. Spaced Out! Wall Toilet construction material has changed to Metal and Gaskets. Prehistoric Planet Pack Jawbo is now attracted to Fish Trap lures. Jawbo Eggs now produce 1kg of Eggshell when cracked, instead of 2kg. Jawbo Fillet gives Radiation Resistance effect. Fixes All versions Fixed inoperational Liquid Shutoffs sometimes allowing liquid to pass through on load. Fixed a bug where Duplicants were not fleeing after being attacked. Doors saved in an open or opening state will once again close upon load if they are set to Auto. Airlocks now update their temperature at the end of an open animation, in sync with the change in their sim state. Fixed a bug where save files with long names in multibyte languages would not permit manual saves. Fixed a bug where emptying a liquid bottle from a Bottle Filler sometimes showed a liquid color that didn't match the liquid that the Duplicant was trying to pick up. Fixed visual bug on the Bottle Filler building where the Duplicant’s picked up bottle didn’t match how much liquid it contained. Recover Breath chore’s safety query now checks adjacent cells for oxygen as well, not just the cell the Duplicants would stand on. Duplicants recovering breath while on a ladder now play the correct animation. Fixed a bug where reactions were not playing correctly. Removed the "Copy of " text in Schedule screen default schedule title UI. Luxury Barracks now provide +100% Stamina per cycle, as do the Barracks. Added Stamina information to the Room overlay tooltip. Worldgen: Fixed large entities overlapping, such as Oil Reservoirs in the Trapped Oil and Deep Oil world traits. Fixed an issue where Boulders, Geodes, and Large Glacier world traits were generated incorrectly. This slightly changes the worldgen seeds with those world traits, but geysers are largely unaffected (exception: Oil Reservoirs spawned as part of Irregular Oil and Trapped Oil traits). Fixed a bug where deceased Duplicants mourned themselves. Fixed issue where buildings that had been renamed would lose their custom name when applying a different cosmetic blueprint or when loading the save. Fixed building placement preview disappearing when panning the camera. Fixed a typo on the repair string for Worn Oxygen Masks. Corrected the aspect ratio of the ESC menu's DLC toggle art. Status items on emptying pipes in colonies lacking a Duplicant with the Plumbing skill will now update correctly once a Duplicant gets that skill. Rays from light sources now apply the intended color tint. This makes some colored lights a little more vibrant. Fixed a crash that occurred when loading a save file that had a DLC monument blueprint applied but did not have the DLC installed. Pacus now have more flexibility for navigating stacked insubstantial liquids. Desalinator now only displays conversion information for the element currently being processed. Fixed Aquatic Critter Condo not displaying a status item when not submerged in liquid. Fixed large aquatic critters going to the incorrect cell for the Aquatic Critter Condo. Zero-kcal ingredients such as Caviar now display their unit amount in Printing Pod care package offers. Fixed a bug where sometimes liquids adjacent to solid tiles could cause some transparent shades to appear on doors adjacent to those tiles, even if the doors were not touching the liquids. Fixed incorrect liquid pressure damage calculations on Fish Release and Fish Feeder. Fixed swimming critters unexpectedly traversing diagonally through certain perpendicular door arrangements. Fixed an issue where placing an Oil Refinery was not blocked by buildings that were already under construction. The Milking Station can now be automated. Base Game only Tonic Root database entry is no longer mistakenly locked behind the Spaced Out! DLC. Spaced Out! only Fixed the swamp starting template containing a sandstone tile. Meteor Blaster no longer reveals the identity of the targeted unidentified incoming meteor shower. The Frosty Planet Pack Fixed Wood Heater not playing sound. The Bionic Booster Pack Added a new skill badge for the Improved Hardware skill. The Prehistoric Planet Pack The Smoker's errand type is now a Cook Supply type. Fixed Jawbo missing fish bag symbol. Modding Added startingMinions to cluster file format to define up to three starting Duplicants. See Ceres, Prehistoric, or Aquatic clusters for examples. Converted ElementLoader to use VYaml. Speeds up launching the game by 2s. KAnim symbols with the “_sh” postfix will have a shine effect applied to them. These symbols are greyscale, with black being zero shine and white being 100% shine. Deprecated Mob.Location rule Water. It now behaves the same way as Liquid. Added an obsolete overload of the old BuildingFacadeResource constructor, allowing mods that used it to continue working. Added musicFirstPlaylist which queues up additional music to cluster files. Added a static int in Substance.cs to keep track of the amount of existing Liquid textures in use. Mods can use this to avoid stomping other mods. Changes since last public testing hotfix Spoiler Fixes Fixed the Caviar database entry showing spoil time when Caviar does not actually spoil. Updated final artwork for the Tattered Beach Chair. Fixed the Pacu Treat's broken codex link. Updated description for the Fish Trap to include all aquatic critters. F.A.Q. I'll check though. Thanks. Can you check also EUR prices please? A lot of European countries do not use EUR as currency but they are forced on steam to buy in EUR (so higher price due to conversion). 1 EUR is 1.15 USD currently 10.25 EUR vs 9.99 USD price for the new DLC, which is effectively 11.79 USD (18% higher). If we want to have the same price it could easily be something like 8.69 EUR. Also most countries (if not all) have lower hourly salary than the USA. (North Macedonia, Serbia, Czech Republic, even countries in the eurozone as Slovakia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and many more. This DLC is too expensive in EUR. Senthe_
Congratulations, Aki!!! 🥳 (And Klei, ofc, but sorry, I'm definitely taking sides with this one ; )) --- On another note, though: 3 hours ago, JoeW said: We usually set regional pricing by Steam recommendation and not always a straight 1:1 conversion. I'll check though. Thanks. Real talk, considering avg Polish wages, this actually IS a fair price for Poland. I just checked a McDonalds cheeseburger in the US costs $3.90, here it's $2.60, so your ~2/3 price convertion ratio sounds similar to that. And to make the context really clear, the current median salary here is $1800, and in the US $5300, so it's not like McDonalds is spoiling us with regional pricings either... You wouldn't believe how much Steam has been screwing us over for many years, I'm not kidding when I say we have had one of the worst wages/price ratios on the entire planet. I'm 99% sure that's why the other guy here was surprised, we're used to Steam prices ~4x higher in relative terms than what people e.g. in the US pay from their perspective. (Yes, really. Imagine how fun it sounds when people complain about AAA game prices increasing from 60 to 70USD, when in relative terms we've been eating up >200USD for more than a decade lol.) It's news to me if Steam actually changed their regional pricing for us, but if that's actually what they currently recommend, then please for the love of god don't change it, we've had enough 🙃 Edited Thursday at 10:06 PM by Senthe_ 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172089-the-aquatic-planet-pack-is-now-available-update-klei-fest-2026/#findComment-1871334 Share on other sites

ThisIsDodgy
Gonna say the same thing I told my buddy on Discord. Klei in my opinion is one of the truly best game developers out there now. Even compared to the triple A title makers the quality of Klei's products and the way they release content is a top tier move that's rarely seen in the gaming industries especially for a company that's existed as long as they have. Props and kudos to you guys. Every game you've released that I've played has felt like a complete experience. Your dlc's are worth the money and don't remove features from the game but expands on them. Honestly reminds me of a golden age of gaming developer instead of an indie developer and I can say honestly as a fan and an old gamer thanks Klei. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172089-the-aquatic-planet-pack-is-now-available-update-klei-fest-2026/#findComment-1871346 Share on other sites
