no with the exception of when i maxed out its spawnrate

Frankly I couldn't care less about that boss, it drops absolutely nothing of value, aside from the very low chance of getting fossil pieces (which does technically make them renewable, however they're so rare that it might as well not exist when paired with how rare the boss is). No unique boss drop either is a major let down, as one of the coolest part about bosses is getting to craft something related to the boss with one of their dropped parts (scaled furnace, eyebrella, stuff like that). A glow berry lure hat that provided light and lured creatures in could've been cool.

five or six times. i must confess i actually spend a LOT of time sailing since they added the tree seeds to chests. i am sure i would see a lot more if i went back to cave-basing

I was initially interested in the tree seeds in chests, but I found them too time consuming to produce and now boulderboughs are an easier source of gems on trees

which is totally fair. i came to dst from solo ds so shipwrecked was my formative game and as such i have been primed since 2019 to want to sail

I mean it honestly just comes down to how much time you spend in the caves, I've had plenty of encounters when working on cave bases.

Same. By "plenty" I mean "three", but in relation to the time I spent in the cave in that world it feels very reasonable. They are not that frequent at all but you will definitely encounter them as long as you hang around in the cave.

I, as well, want to live the pirate life in DST. Sadly, there's not much incentive :(
One idea I had was to have a trawler attached to the boat so fishing and exploring can be done at the same time, instead of having to stop in the middle of the ocean to fish.

Yeah he came out of nowhere. It was really surprising. I don't look at what updates add so I can experience it myself and figure it out on my own so I had no idea they added that.

Wow, that is a heck of a way to go about playing, I'll have to try really hard to hide update information from myself at some point.

I kinda miss being surprised by stuff like the old days, although I can't wait to be surprised in other locations... some might use the word Elsewhere...

Subtle but not at all.

It's awesome, every game that's like this I play like this. If it's like Dead by Daylight or League of Legends or Counter-Strike or something I obviously will just read the patch notes but games like R.E.P.O., Lethal Company, Don't Starve, ULTRAKILL, etc, I'll either ignore the patch notes if the game doesn't obscure spoilers or only read the parts that aren't spoilers. For example, I don't know who Frostjaw is. Off the top of my head Frostjaw is the only thing I remember seeing people talk about that I haven't personally discovered. All I know about him is that the electric circuit apparently makes him deal comparable DPS to a spider so he presumably uses multi-hit attacks like sharks do. I found an ice ring in the ocean, so I assume Frostjaw is a boss fight that you summon there by doing something. And I get to figure out what that something is. I bet it's fishing in the center of the circle, but I haven't tried yet.

Also, if anyone replies to me telling me about how to summon Frostjaw or something like that, you will get blocked! Even if it's just confirming that I do fish there to summon him!
