Another thing that would be good to point out: the board game has an estimated delivery date of March 2027. So if you want to get the boardgame it will be a long time out. This also means, since the skins are included in the box as codes, if you want the skins you will have to wait until 2027. This is interesting because if they do release the skins to the public would they also be in 2027?

Pick/Axe skin, included with the Constant Curiosities expansion, which is included for free for those who followed the campaign on Kickstarter before it launched, otherwise paid.

Oh I did miss out on something because I wasn't aware of this before? I was about to buy the $130 deluxe version today but if I'm missing out on free things for no reason and I need to spend an extra $10 on the expansion I'm not interested.

If you followed / subscribed to the project news on the Kickstarter website before the crowdfunding campaign went live you will receive the Pick/Axe skin free of charge if you back the project with any of the core boxes as reward (deluxe or basic version).

Neither core box version technically includes the Pick/Axe skin, but if you as mentioned were following the project before it launched you will receive a key for said skin as well.

Otherwise you will have to buy the "Constant Curiosities" thingie later on if you want the skin, since the skin is included in that addon.

Correct me if I am wrong.

You're saying this because there's Willow in it.

I would probably be saying that too

My bias is obvious, but there's also a large chunk of the cast getting skins here, too. Skins that, we still have no confirmation if they'll ever return or not.

There is a huge misconception about the in-game skins. They are not time limited. As long as you can get the board game and additional character add-ons for the board game, you'll get the skins. They come with the board game, not a reward for backing the project.

Barely anything on the Kickstarter (board game and in-game) is time limited. The only thing you get for backing early is the Wolfgang expansion free, where later on it will cost money and probably not come with the painted figure. There isn't anything announced that can only be obtained by backing the project. The only indication of this stuff is in the comment below "hidden rewards for backers only":

Backing the project only helps fund it, and the only real reward you get is at the end, you'll get everything in the Stretch Goal bundle for free, where people who did not back will have to pay for it.

Do we know if the skins will be available outside of the board game in any capacity?

Or if the board game runs out of stock at a point, if there's alternatives?

I have no official statement to back this up, but I'd assume they will be treated as other proof of purchase skins. Tied to the merch exclusively until the merch goes out of production. I just want to stomp out the rumors that these skins have any FOMO attached to them. They just have a hefty price tag if you aren't actually interested in the board game.

@Semind, since you've reacted to this post I wanted to let you know that I no longer trust that it'll be the best option by the time the campaign ends. I'd feel terrible if you or anyone relied on incomplete info only to be disappointed.

Afraid so. If you didn't follow the project beforehand, it'll cost extra. To be clear, you wouldn't miss out on anything other than the discount.

I think I had the project followed before becoming a backer

Where can I confirm that the 10$ curiosities mini expansion is available to me on release?

In what UI can I see on kickstarter? Any ideas?

Nowhere. An answer form GCU to a comment:

On the Pledge Manager, from the FAQ:

Quote

[PLEDGE MANAGER] Will there be a Pledge Manager?

Yes, the Pledge Manager will open some time after the Kickstarter campaign ends.

Variant's original post snip

Variant, an idea if you want you can mention links to both the FAQ and the Comments section in your post at the top for people to land on those pages

Maybe also mention that if you are a 1$ backer even you can ask question directly to the creators on kickstarter

I wouldn't encourage people to back the project just to ask a question. People around here are answering questions as well as GCU themselves on the subreddit post.

Yeah, it's just for people that definitely know they want the boardgame.

Not to be too nitpicky (but I can't help myself), but not everyone who's interested can or will buy it through the KS campaign. For example, Kickstarter is fairly restrictive wrt payment options, and the campaign is only open for a few weeks. The game will be available later, and with other payment options, through a late pledge system, GCU's store and retail.

Of course, sometimes I forget the boardgame will exist in shops.
But for people like me where the decision is 100% always, I might as well be part of the kickstart.

If would buy a boardgame for all of my steam games that I spent 1000-5000hrs on digitally (if only those existed)

I thought that pickaxe skin was free, so what we have followed for ?

This looks like they advertised a free gift. If I followed and didn't get a free gift, I would be thinking about contacting the attorney general.

Not a lawyer, not legal advice.

Kickstarter is based around stretch goals and freebie bonus gifts, but you never get anything without backing. Glass Cannon Unplugged absolutely should have been more clear (and to be fair, every post I saw did say you have to purchase the game, so it wasn’t like that info wasn’t out there), but kinda feels like people are looking for reasons to hate Klei. Maybe it would have been better if they’d never included skins at all.

Definitely not always the case. For example, the first update on the KS page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/glasscannonunplugged/dont-starve-the-board-game/posts/4468283

No mention in the main post of any condition other than following the campaing.

As someone who's never used Kickstarter, I did get the impression that it was free for just following, but if you looked into it at all, it was pretty clear what the stipulations were. Let's be honest, they weren't trying to trick us. It's very clear that the tag line in the advertisement was missing details, but those details were still readily available.

It's not a question about site standards. If this is an advertisement, there are some seriously strict laws around what you can and can't do. Again, not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. I'm bringing this up with my limited knowledge to bring it to Klei's attention as something they may want to address.

If this is an advertisement, and it says: "Follow now for a free gift" they need to fulfill that promise. If they charge you money for a free gift, it is not a free gift.

A quick snippet from Googleing the key principals of the "Truth in advertising act" to keep in mind

Consideration of Omissions: Even a lack of information that leads to a misimpression can be a violation.

Non-Deception: Ads cannot contain false or misleading statements, whether express (literally stated) or implied (conveyed indirectly).

So if this is an advertisement that is claiming a free gift for following, with no further details or *small print and they don't provide a free gift. That would be a huge problem. You take advertising at face value, nothing is implied.
