Changes

  • Post-Lunar Hail Period
    • For 6 days, the bird population is drastically reduced.
    • Bright-Beaked birds will have a chance to spawn naturally during this period.
  • Caged Bright-Beaked Birds will now give a guaranteed Pure Brilliance drop after feeding 3 Infused Moon Shards, and go on a 1 day cooldown until they can be fed again.
    • There is a small visual indicator when they are on cooldown.
  • Lunar Hail buildup will decay slower to give more time to clear it for resources.
  • Lowered the number of clearing hits required for the bigger objects covered in Lunar Hail buildup from 5 to 4 to match up with smaller objects output rates.
  • Lunar recipes
    • Increased the Moon Shard cost for the Glass Cutter from 3 to 5.
    • Moved the Glass Cutter and Moon Glass Axe back into Celestial Altar crafting tier.
    • Glass Cutter and Moon Glass Axe may be prototyped and built away from the Altar.
  • ‘Moonrock Pengull’ has been renamed to ‘Permafrost Pengull’.
  • Spider Queen will now panic from T.I.N.G.L.E. Fields.
  • Carnival Crows are now scared of Lunar Hail.
  • Static Restrainers are now stackable.
  • Players can now swim very slowly while floating.
  • Players will also use a shorter shock state like creatures do when electrocuted by T.I.N.G.L.E. Fields.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash with burnable objects being burnt.
  • Fixed tools not wearing when clearing Lunar Hail buildup.
  • Fixed Structure Alignment being misaligned for worlds with different sizes.
  • Fixed Drying Rack skins having Meat instead of Jerky in their icons.
  • Fixed a crash when attacking on a controller with Wigfrid’s Elding Spear.
  • Fixed Drying Racks not resuming perishing when drying is paused (e.g. Raining)
  • Fixed some corpses not displaying the correct string.
  • Fixed Woby’s Drying Rack leading to a crash.
  • Fixed regular Hounds not dropping souls.
  • Fixed birds disappearing out of Bird Cages when they starved.
  • Burning the Drying Rack will instantly dry its products when finished burning, like its old iteration.
  • Fixed action & attack buttons (spacebar & F) not properly blocked while floating.

All the Wurt mains have been asking for this so I'll just throw this suggestion out there now that swimming is actually something that is technically possible now. Maybe the more amphibian skills Wurt has unlocked the faster they can swim along with an innate bonus?

it really doesn't need durability, leave it be. even if it had durability it'd barely break because of how niche it is

before it was reworked into what it is now the entire thing was consumed when saving you, this should not be exempt from normal survival mechanics because it's "niche".

neither floaters or fences need durability or fuel. It's a stubborn outlook that everything in survival games should need constant upkeep, Let things just be because it doesn't add to the survival aspect at all it just makes it more tedious

Fences? Who's saying fences need durability? Now you're just pulling random strawmen to try and devalue what I have to say along with the Magical T-word at the end there, goodybye.

it's just another common sentiment people have in this beta that i think should be stated isn't a good idea. Tedious is the right word to describe what having to go to the swamp to get the materials for another one when it's just so unecessary to add

Okay so you're confused, I see. No that is not what I want I have made a post here that outlines I want it to be repairable with the sewing kit and have 10 uses, that is not tedious because you're not going back to the swamp to get a new one.

How would this work with the swimming mechanic? Would it continue to lose durability or is it free after the 10%?

Interesting alright. At least it requires a trip to the Island now, so that is nice. The crafting cost from 3 to 5 is significantly better, still pretty dang cheap all things considered but honestly seems like a good compromise to meet in the middle while making it prototypable. Curious how it'll shake out. I am partial to this over all.

Still hope to add some challenge to the lunar hail, still lacking in the survival risk department.

I made the topic before this change, so no I guess not that seems horrid anyways lol. If it saves you it goes down 1 durability, simple as.

Fences do have durabilility and this is a dumb comparison comparing it to a decoration that holds passive creatures.

Bit unfortunate about the shard increase, but the log cost for the cutter remaining the same and them being prototypable more than make up for this! It’s a very good change : )

For those curios, this does impact Wicker’s birds of the world book. It both drastically reduces the amount of birds you get (from ~15 to 1-2 initally), but does allow you to farm bright beaked birds. I’m curious how the former will effect krampus farming, since you’ll need to either work around the spawn periods that get reduced by the hail, or close/block the rifts (which is much harder in the case of the surface) to achieve the old farming rates consistently.
