Lunar recipes

  • Increased the Moon Shard cost for the Glass Cutter from 3 to 5.
  • Moved the Glass Cutter and Moon Glass Axe back into Celestial Altar crafting tier.
  • Glass Cutter and Moon Glass Axe may be prototyped and built away from the Altar.

Glad there's still a reason to visit the lunar island and assemble the alter outside of CC, with the item being a prototype it will be seeing a lot more use along the dark sword. Honestly I felt like needing an entire board was more of a hassle that the moon glass anyway.

Funny thing about the update though, the bath bomb is still apparently at the celestial orb, despite needing items from lunar to craft it.

Caged Bright-Beaked Birds will now give a guaranteed Pure Brilliance drop after feeding 3 Infused Moon Shards, and go on a 2 day cooldown until they can be fed again.

Two days?! I understand they're supposed to be a small source of pure brilliance, but a two-day cooldown is a bit much. One day would be perfectly sufficient.

These are very good changes compared to the previous changes to these items.
I just don't understand why the bath bomb remained in the Celestial Orb tier. Crafting it requires going to Lunar Island anyway, and they can only be used there, so it's pointless, to say the least.

And then there's the prototyping of the glass cutter and moon glass axe. Cool, but it would be better if it worked, as I suggested in my post.

Spoiler

And I'll go even further. Since these items are now prototypable, let Lunar Island and Lunar Grotto turfs be prototypable as well. Or rather, let it be possible to craft blueprints for these two turfs.

Players can now swim very slowly while floating.

Yes! Thank you for this great change. It's a good idea to have characters rest periodically while swimming.
It's just a shame that Wurt doesn't differ from the other characters in this regard. She could move a bit faster or tire more slowly.

They have 25 damage and 25 planar damage.

Okay, so they're still under development right? Or not? I'm a bit confused.

Who kills buzzards? Why would they get mutated out of all options? This just feels quite random, idk. I am very very confused with this

You can spawn their corpses with a command or immediately spawn a mutated version, but they are not fully finished yet, because they have the behavior of regular buzzards, and from the animations mine up some time ago it appears that they are supposed to spit.
And they will probably be killed by lunar hail, which does not deal damage to the player, but to selected mobs, and this is very logical.

It Would be great to add watering crops and bosses using water baloons

IIRC, you can water farmland with them. If you could water Wormwood crops, the watering can would work just as well as a balloon.

The bright-beaked birds come from birds dying of lunar hail rather than needing to be killed by the player, it would make sense for the same to happen to buzzards if you're in a desert.

Man, seeing this, mutated crows, frogs and the 3 bosses from host of horrors; it really sucks that Klei abandoned the original art direction for lunar mutations. What happened to gross, unnatural, in-pain-looking creatures? This art direction is literally just "let's give them a cool (as in cold) color palette, some moon-glass accents and crystals that look more like augments rather than unnatural growths"

I prefer the actual /horror/ design too

Well, the frogs have a gross clump of blinking eyes on their backs, and while you're kinda right about 2 of the boss mutants, I think Crystal Deerclops has some body horror going on, especially with those gruesome squelchy sounds the icicles make as they erupt out of her body.

Hopefully it's just due to proximity to lunar magics, being directly on the island being a different form of mutation compared to corpses being re-purposed for gestalts. Here's hoping we can see the old horrors again

These are different, Those are creatures mutated by lunar. The new "mutations" are the bodies of creatures possessed by brightshade gestalts

Why should normal hounds that die and become mutations be different than birds that die and become mutations?

A planar gestalt flies into one. It doesn't into the other one. We don't know the properties of those gestalts, but that might be one of their properties.

It's.... fine.

I'd want more necrotic and un-dead art style and vibes from Klei, but I get it and know why.

It'd barely break, it's a giant euphemism and showes you may have not touched the water.

Tedious is the right word to describe what having to go to the swamp to get the materials for another one when it's just so unecessary to add

Then tedious is even crafting constantly axes and pickaxes right? Come on.

Also no. I don't know the point of @WhackE but the swamp point it's exactly what we wanted to fix it.

And now the last one that remains to rework, in good faith, totally drowning.

Okay so you're confused, I see. No that is not what I want I have made a post here that outlines I want it to be repairable with the sewing kit and have 10 uses, that is not tedious because you're not going back to the swamp to get a new one.

While I get your good intentions, I don't think it's the right way, even in terms of game design.

But what if Wurt could without it? Hmnnn? Like she has the same command option of the boat to "abandon ship" but instead "abandon land"?

Exactly!!! Lmao, it's a bad design change in that regard. Sure it's not the end of the world but still very annoying. UNLESS, Klei is picturing hot baths spawning in other parts of the world (which shouldn't make sense...)

Give it time. We'll move it to them. They simply didn't have time and too many boiling things in the pot.

Yeah! The only one I don't agree with Szczuku is Deerclops. Atleast him still posseses kinda that vibe, also because his design is a fine gray line between the old and new design, but the buzzard one? It's very....bleah. Like an anime version or very bland powered-up of the animal.

Yeah, exactly. I'm very confused on that. Do we have some lore or confirmation to back-it up? I thought it was because of that nothing-burger drama of Klei as a company.

Considering that players might not even realize Lunar Island exists, including a reference to it in the Orb Tier might serve as a good signpost. If so it might should add more nods to Lunar Island in the Bath Bomb’s description, quote, or Scrapbook.
