Bros I'm tired of downvotes :sob:

Recommended Posts

Lol Idk how to put this in a way that doesn't seem like whining but I feel like as of late many of us have been using either the Wavey reaction or the Potato cup reaction (im totally guilty of this too, don't get me wrong) as a downvote, but part of the reason that we even have all of these weird, ambiguous reactions in the first place is so a downvote doesn't really exist. There used to be a reaction called Confused that everyone would use as a downvote, and then it was removed and in its place like 75% of the reactions we have now were added - with the added JoeW comment that if any reactions became synonymous with a downvote, he'd remove it. Lets not make this a pattern guys or else we'll lose wavey and potato cup :wilson_cry:

Posting this in beta branch is justified because of that one guy reacting to everything with wavey

I have a question, and it’s going to be deeply personal to each and everyone who reads this question.

”What do the Forum Reactions Mean to You?”

-waits for mixed responses- :wilson_evil:

Oh I’m fully aware of what I’m doing…

My next question is, What do you think the reactions you guys react to my posts with means to Me? Muwhahahaha :wilson_evil:

I'm more of emoji guy and I need more emojis of DS/DST characters..:juggling:

Removing an emoji because of "downvotes" is stupid in the first place. You remove one and at some point another will take its place. Do you just remove all emojis at that point? They can, but removing forum expression because of a few bad apples is the lowest of the low. Just remove those people's ability to react.

At the end of the day wtf can we do? Go their house and force them to stop at gun point. It's out of our control.

Just silly lazy moderation.

I admire the guy for single-handedly proving the dst forum mods how stupid and patronizing it is to not give us a thumbs down because 'UwU fowumites will be mean to each othew and we don't want that, this is a safe space, whewe evewy weaction and intewaction with the community is positive UwU'

I'd much rather see thumbs down on my posts, than see people thinking they are owning anyone by reacting with cat/potato/ninja/wavey/brain

you can justify anything with selective reasoning. this is a social matter and has nothing to do with the beta itself

I don't understand why people are so sensitive and why developers are against having a real downvote emote so we don't have to use something else which may even be more hurtful like confused or potato cup emotes.

It doesn't matter how many emotes they remove as we will always use another one, next one might be sanity that has been used when someone made a very reasonably sound point but we will reverse the meaning. Basically as long as 2 or more emotes exist one will be used as a downvote.

I will continue doing this because I believe that we need to have a way to signal that we don't agree with the thread/post mostly when I don't want to reply to it but even If I do.

Why is it so wrong to allow players to downvote so that we will know If a thread will be controversial and how many people disagree when they may not want to write anything? This could be especially useful for suggesting changes to the game when someone may not want to get into an argument but wants to express their own opinion. I do agree that this isn't as helpful but it is something. I've seen a lot of people on the forums that avoid confrontation and in specific situations I've also avoided some discussions and used emotes because I was already part of similar conversations in the past and didn't want to get into it or someone in the thread said what I wanted to say.

Why should users not be able to downvote? I want to know what is the actual reasoning behind that.

Also, I'd prefer If developers focused on the game even If forums were to become much more chaotic.

I'd like a straight dislike reaction. As long as there's more than one reaction, one will be "like" and the other one will be "dislike". They're just making everyone eat their head thinking "why did I get a potato cup?"

Adding this emote would solve everything: image.png.728c1133edb06e6f97226b7b5d3f247b.png

Even if it was to end up as an informal down vote it would still remind everybody to act civilized and follow the community rules with each appearance.

That's clear. Wholehearted agreement with me and praise for myself are worthy reactions, anything else are just worthless disgusting wastes. And my reacts to you means the enlightenment to lead your fate to you by my godly intelligence, mortal.

And according to my godly intelligence, I couldn't agree adding downvote or dislike emote. When rejecting someone's opinion or suggestion,  I think it's polite to give some reason or justification and to need a response that goes beyond a just say "Nuh".
