About the bat bat as a weapon

Recommended Posts

I hope to enhance Bat bat in a version update next year. I really like this weapon, but both its damage and durability are not proportional to its production cost, so I hope it can be improved. For example, changing the original 75 durability to 100 points will still consume spirit points when full health, but will not consume the durability of the bat bat itself. This can greatly increase the number of uses and also comply with the original design (such a technology that consumes spirit). This way, even if the materials are more expensive, some people will still use them, and it is no longer exclusive to Wormwood beings.

It's for healing, it's not supposed to be your primary weapon. Even with those changes it would still be bad as a main weapon due to its sanity drain, cost, and durability. I don't think this would change anything, anyone who recognizes the potential of its healing is already using it for its healing and wouldn't care about these changes, and anyone who doesn't recognize the potential of its healing are already using other things that don't require farming batilisks to reach 51 damage like tentacle spikes, ham bats, dark swords, thul clubs, shields, etc.

Bat Bat is just a bad weapon and unless you're playing Wormwood(even then) it is a gimmicky item you just use if you're screwing around.  The problem isn't the damage, it SHOULD be doing less damage. The problem isn't the durability, it SHOULD have low durability(75 heals). The problem that holds it back is the sanity drain, it just isn't worth the sanity drain when you can heal far more effectively with poultices. They don't expire, stack higher, and heal for more. Wormwood has an easier time making the honey poultices than ever, but really even the spider gland poultices are better.

Bat Bat is a trophy luxury for decoration and nothing more, only a change to the sanity drain could ever make it appealing to use.

you need around 15 cactus if you kill BQ using a bat bat and dark swords if you start the fight with full sanity so that's hardly the worst part about it, it's just annoying to store bat wings and both shadow manip and healing yourself are unneeded if you're using beefalo, which also practically removes wormwood's health downside

25 more durability and 9 more dmg would be fine and very welcome changes i think. This would not at all turn the batbat into something that it is currently not. It would just make it a little better.

Its a very expensive weapon to make it can stand to be buffed a little.

I use it sometimes but only as Wormwood and only up until i get CC crown.

Because i value the CC crown way more the batbat becomes completely unusable because of the sanity drain.

Damage and durability are the foundation of a weapon, and increasing them will certainly enhance its practicality. Of course, it is also possible to reduce the mental expenditure of use, but that does not conform to the original design of the weapon (trading high risk for high returns).

bat bat is perfectly fine as in combat healing item. It is not supposed to compete with other weapons in terms of damage

I don't think so. In fact, the bat bat bat converts mental health into health points one to two, but it can only be used 75 times. Its cost-effectiveness has been completely surpassed by other means of restoring health points. Increasing durability is also to better play its role, and increasing damage is to highlight its characteristics as a weapon. It is ultimately a weapon.

I honestly think it's fine the way it is in terms of damage/healing/sanity. If they just reduced the cost to say a red gem instead of purple or something I think it would be much more appealing to use, especially early game when you're just getting into the caves or have some bunnymen around a cave entrance.

If you start fights with full sanity the healing you need is often not enough to put you into insanity, and if you are Wormwood you can plant seeds while kiting.

Banana Shakes (since some kind of continuous progression is implied for Honey Poultice) and other sanity foods can also help if you don't want to go insane, but going insane does help give you targets to hit to get more healing if required.

The durability to cost ratio is definitely a problem with the batbat for me. Two living logs can be a pretty steep cost for only 75 durability. I would want it to only need one living log and have 100 durability.

It might be nice if it was moved to the prestihatitator tier, so it's not a direct competitor to the dark sword.

it wasn't meant to be a dps weapon nor a competitor of the darksword.

I'm all in for more durability, this means more healing. It's also a magic item so the sanity cost is justified.

btw, what does "technology that consumes spirit" mean?

sanity? is there a hidden star mechanic that I wasn't aware before?

Red gems are used for life giving amulets & fire staves. Purple gems are basically just used for bat bats and switching characters. If the recipe were changed to red gems then people who don't abuse the portal (which is most people) wouldn't have anything to spend purple gems on.

It's a godsend when i find one of these in the ruins labyrinth at 30% durability. The healing goes a long way. 75 uses with 7 hp per hit means 525 healing from what is mostly just a purple gem and 2 living logs. It is a utility weapon, use your living logs on dark swords when you want a main weapon.

bat wing drops NEED to be increased in the first place....like bats figthin them is not worth it with how fast they attack and how they never drop it in the first place....most uses that weapon has is randomly finding it in the maze area
