Please add some item that require 2 (or more) Walrus tusk to craft

Recommended Posts

Since Walrus tusk is a must have Item and we can only hunt it 5 times per year. (day 1 , 4 , 7 , 10 , and 13 in winter)

according to 50% drop rate that mean avg players will get 2.5 tusks per 1 year game (70 days game) if they don't have walrus camp setpiece spawn in world.

if the item add , at least we can use green gem staff + green gem amulet to generate a tusk.

now the server is spoiled , almost every players(Include me) would regenerate the world if they don't find walrus camp setpiece.

NO. Please add walking cane or walrus tusk substitute and put it into the Ocean or Rift or CC path. Again, it's not a good idea to keep making the already most rewarding parts of the game richer when there are plenty of unrewarding challenges.

OP proposes SEVERELY underrated suggestion.

It's true though. Tusks are hyper valued on public servers and lack of speed is super frustrating and quite frankly, no speed = waste of life. Like literally.

What's somewhat frustrating is if they introduced a craft that isn't 2 tusks, but 3.

They did the same thing with strident trident. it's a 3 horn craft and for me when I sail, I never get ambushed by big fish such as gnarwhal and rockjaws, so when my trident cache is low, I need to construct/deconstruct to get more, and the initial cost is too high for it to be 50% more efficient to craft 1 using con-am.

make alot of brushes or orange staves

brush and orange staff is not require a lot of tusk , it can deconstruct and recraft again.

my point is 6-8 players should have walrus cane in the first year , and it not enough if no walrus setpiece spawn.

Walrus cane is best for travel and kiting boss , it not make sense to clear the game before get that item.

3 is ok , at least Dragonfly respawn every 20 day and we can go ruin for more gem.

also Wilson skill can craft it and rng tumbleweed have a chance for green gem lol.

You don't have to "clear the game" to get into the ocean, if you think of that is a lot of work, entering the Ruins and get deconstruction staff is require more. People didn't into the ocean in early games just because there is lack of useful rewards for early games. Not because they can't.

...I think we're talking about is get *extra* tusk.

oh my bad , I think your previous post want to move the walrus camp in the sea (or rift) lol.

If you mean new mobs in ocean that drop the tusk , I agree with you.

You can find cane in sunken chest but chance is terrible compared to time you have to spend seeking it, about  65.13% probability that you'll get it in 70 days. If it was only buffed to become viable option for canes.

It'd be awesome if sunken chests had a max range where they could appear, so that I'd be actually interested in going for them, instead of showing up on the other side of the map.

That way if I'm just travelling to a specific place I'd be interested in changing course and checking it quickly.

That and maybe buffing the sunken chest loots. I still don't know why we'd like boat equipment (when we probably already have it) and ruins' materials (when they should all be equipment to avoid another long trip to the ruins)

Not taming Beefaloes or creating roads → skills issues. Sunken Chests are nice and wonderful. <3 You only need a tiny bit of luck. Sailing and getting them on public servers is really fun, so it does not need any tweaks. It is possible to streamline the seafaring pretty hard. The biggest bottleneck is that bottles with messages are not overly frequent and the only "problem" is when a Sunken Chest spawns across the map, but I don't want any changes because later you will have multiple fast boats spread across the world and then it will be trivial to haul chests.

For me the walking cane isnt a mandatory item.

You can always tame a beefalo, craft a thulecite club or magiluminescence and like someone else said, there is the recent Woodie cane. Sure its not as convenient as a walking cane but its still managable.

That's where the issue is for me.

I think it is less important than you think.  Yes the staff and ms in general is a great qol thing to have, but it is far from mandatory.  You can play through the game without a tusk just fine.  There are other options too - most world-gen will support multiple beefs being tamed.  If you start early you can get a beef tamed by early winter, only slightly after a tusk is available.  This is a great option for a multi-player server where you know you might not get a tusk for a cane.  If you control the server you can also re-roll to get 4 mac tusk camp significantly increasing the ability to produce tusks.  There are also other options like Magi which I use a lot lately, its so convenient not only being a speed boost but also a light source and nm fuel is pretty easy to stock up on, and does not spoil unlike light bulbs.  I barely ever use a lantern anymore, probably go through 1-2 in a year's time.

on some of my PRIVITE worlds, i don't get canes till like 2nd or even 3rd winter as they are just not too important to me too. cane is overrated tbh

You can get walking canes from both sunken treasures out at sea, and from just sleeping beside a WintersFeast tree that’s fully decorated (game doesn’t even have to be in WF mode to do this… you just have to have had a world that’s had one fully decorated tree in its entire existence.

Alternatively you can turn WF on at anytime you want now.

If you want specifically just the “tusks” then okay Wanda main… you should have no problem getting a deconstruction staff to use on those free walking canes.

...made sunken chests actually fun to hunt for they literally have walking canes in their loot table.

They do have them, Walking Canes, in their loot table - there's a 10% chance each Sunken Chest to have 1x Cane. I believe people dubbed the type of loot having Canes as "Explorer's Chest" since it usually also has Compass, Thermal Stone, Papyrus in it.

I know they have them the problem is the current method of hunting down sunken chests is slow and boring.

I wouldn't mind a sink for Walrus tusks, I find they tend to build up if you don't play Wanda. Sure, you could just not hunt them, but it seems strange for such a useful-seeming resource to have such limited use.

Then again hound's teeth aren't exactly any better, I straight up used c_removeall("houndtooth") on my world because crafting them into bone shards isn't even worthwhile.
