Dragonboooorn
It already took a real lot of time to refresh and rework every character. Dont know about you guys, but I want to finally have next story arc updates, not "ayo, we, here at Klei, decided to do character updates... Again! But this time, its RPG like!!!" Antynomity
Please no, no more rework-esque updates please, small tweaks here and there sure, but content is what they should focus on from now on (alongside QoL and stuff) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146188-will-everyone-get-a-skill-tree/page/2/#findComment-1622409 Share on other sites

But that's beside the point. Just look at Noodle's post. Why would the devs redesign the character examine screen for a single characters refresh. It could be so other people can see what skills you have but I don't think that's the only reason. The second I saw the skillset button I instantly felt this would be added for every character. Think about it. It's the final rework, THE Wilson rework, and what do they do? They add this rpg-like skill branch that's completely different to anything else in the game and transfers between worlds. There's no way that's going to be only restricted to Wilson. I mean, if this was supposed to be a "Wilson only trait" then why is nothing about it listed in his perks page. Still the same old "Grows a magnificent beard" despite the fact that he now has this full on skill tree no one else has. Unless, its supposed to become the norm. Sounds like the theories that some came up when they changed inventory icons... there is no way this would be applied to every character...isnt even a mechanic that fits the game, works with wilson because he researchs and because is an exception that breaks the rule, an unique thing 5 minutes ago, Ornge said: mean, if this was supposed to be a "Wilson only trait" then why is nothing about it listed in his perks page. Keli is very modder friendly so while the developers might not want that system for other characters, they are paving a road for other people to create it if they so desire. Capybara007
im not a programmer so you can call me delusional but skill trees seem relatively easy to code i agree with hornet, i dont want 20 more re-reworks all over again each one of them with +50 new assets, but skill trees simply seem fun and they dont even need to be some new complicated ability, just a little number adjustment like warly's food spoiling slower on his inventory, or increasing wigfrid' inspiration per hit, simple stuff like that i still believe this is all the stuff we will see in this beta but i hope klei reconsiders, as long as it doesnt take them too much time like the previous reworks Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146188-will-everyone-get-a-skill-tree/page/2/#findComment-1622426 Share on other sites
Datanon
i personally think every character should get most of their perks this way to keep new people invested in trying to survive for longer. do i think they will do it? probably not Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146188-will-everyone-get-a-skill-tree/page/2/#findComment-1622438 Share on other sites

Wilson got new skills, and even if they are basic they have introduced a bunch of bugs which add even more time of development. The new character inspection UI is just that, a new UI, the old one looks bad. It's just a visual change. It was as ugly as the scarecrow skin selection UI which they have thankfully changed. I agree with Hornete with how its possible that the spoilers aren't perk related but lore related. Karitha
This would be great for making every gameplay unique, but it would take time. So much time, which we see Wilson couldn't get completed his own all skills at all. If they think they could spare time for it without slowing updates down, that would be great but only if they could... Cheggf
I actually change my mind, everyone should get a skill tree. Here's my idea for Warly's: Remove all of Warly's perks except for starting with the portable crock pot, but the portable crock pot doesn't cook faster or have unique dishes. Instead he can alt+right click on vegetables to open a visual novel, and over the course of 6 hours confess his feelings to the vegetable. This awards 1 culinary point, up to 15, which he can use on things like Efficacy: Portable crock pot cooks 5/10/15/20/25% faster. Vegetarian: Portable crock pot can cook fresh fruit crepes/puffed potato souffle/hot dragon chili salad/asparagazpacho/glow berry mousse Meat: Portable crock pot can cook monster tartare/moqueca/grim galette/bone bouillon/fish cordon bleu/volt goat chaud-froid Seasoning: Can make a grinding mill/seasoning station/seasoning salt/garlic powder/honey crystals/chili flakes If anybody doesn't want to spend 90 hours playing visual novels about romancing vegetables, then they can always go play the singleplayer game if they want to cling onto old design ideas so bad. P.S. I forgot about his backpack because it sucks. Because I didn't remember to include it, it is now removed. HawtDawg
Skill trees are actually kind of an interesting concept but it makes me wonder if every character really needs a skill tree, some are already well off with their abilities currently and it'd be pretty sucky if some of them lost those perks and had to develop them to actually use them.. but then again I really do think skill trees are pretty cool Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146188-will-everyone-get-a-skill-tree/page/2/#findComment-1622888 Share on other sites

MondayNight
"Will everyone get a skill tree?" - hope not. Simple Skill Tree feels ok-ish for one character, making him (Wilson) unique from this game-play pov, but I for one wouldn't want a general RPG component added to DST, for all characters. Graceful "less is more". Mike23Ua
I can very easily see Wendy getting new skill tree perks such as being completely passive towards angry ghosts, or being able to increase the chances of getting rare drops when robbing graves, or even something new like forcing crows to land on headstones a skill tree for every playable character seems highly unlikely… but would be fun, if nothing else it’s an idea that could be used for a potential Dont Starve Together Sequel. But when it comes to game updates I want new early game content, there’s enough late game crap I’ve NEVER TOUCHED… in the game, but I want something akin to buying Hamlet or Shipwrecked… new content/a new experience that’s right there in my face and doesn’t require 200+ days of build up to get to. I absolutely HATE the direction Klei’s been taking DST in, late game boss fights, (lots and lots of boss fights.. ugh -_-) meanwhile they tease me with stuff like Kitcoons with fur coat designs that match the biome they’re in, they gave me boats and intended for me to set sail to new horizons and experience new things… but all the “new” Thats out there requires some super late game build up… I want content I can experience within the first couple days of starting a world. Content that’s NOT connected to needing to build hermit lady’s house, fight her selfish Crabby boyfriend, building celestial altars, fighting a moon god, and figuring out WTF Wagstaff is up to.. Basically what I want is to buy a DLC add on like Hamlet or Shipwrecked that’s an exciting new experience right out the start. Other characters don't need it and it would be pretty annoying. Imagine if Wicker lost the ability to craft her books and you had to replay the game basics with her to regain them back. This would be about the dumbest way they could implement it, which means this isn’t how it would be implemented lol. I could get behind the idea of super small perks, like they did with Wilson and his torch.
