Favoite update in memory?

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna get the controversal one right off the bat: I love the 2022 March QoL update. The new crafting ruined single player for me due to how much I love it. It feels elegant and sleek and modern, you don't have to scroll endlessly to find someting because of the search bar. I can finally have ropes and bundling wrap right on top of the screen. The AG fight also turned from one of the worst fights in the game to what I would argue is now the most fun single player fight. And his loot is actually worth while now??? Absolute insanity what people considered to be "good" loot from AG back then. These two main changes along with the Wolfgang tweaks completely change the early game and now I feel uneasy watching a video from before that update as I know they'll be fighting the old ancient guardian.

RWYS probably my favourite (farming is like a new game mode) but very close to march QoL for the reasons you mentioned and eye of storm for adding one of the funnier bosses which also has no respawn time

pd. i dont remember in which update the oasis pond mechanics were changed but that update improved a lot the experience by basically removing such horrible, obscure and tedious mechanic

I think I am the only person to enjoy fishing in oasis, it was always a pleasure to fish in there, and when we got the blueprints is also very satisfying, nowadays the blueprint appears so fast that I dont have that time to enjoy fishing, sometimes I just start fishing for no reason even tho I already have the blueprint, sadly there is no good loot in there after you get the bp.

edit: i forgor to say my favorite update, I like all updates from the posts aboves, plus I also like that update where made deerclops be spawned with hostile flare.

I have a lot of DST updates which I really love, but if I had to pick only one it would be the update which added the new ocean. Even if the ocean is empty it utilizes so much more of the world and adds a lot to explore (if you use mods which add new islands)

Forgotten Knowledge.

IMO, I think this update has aged rather well for the most part.

Having it in the blue mushroom biome was low-key very smart since ruins rushers that go to the blue mush forest to grab blue shrooms can also go ahead and grab some easy living logs and thulecite for the ruins. Bonus points because this biome is very accessible in the early-game if you know what you're doing unlike some of the other updates.

Not only that, it was an incredibly lore-heavy update, with a lot of the lore being in-game (with a french kiss for when you insert the opal gem into the power thingy) AND we have potential for future expansion in the area thanks to the sealed portal and what we saw in the trailer for this update.

I'd like to see more updates like Forgotten Knowledge for those reasons and I think that is what the game needs more of: lore-heavy updates that add to the story but also kind of add new/different ways of doing things we as players already do.

Can’t think of just one as I tend to forget from which update certain small changes come from… but pretty much any update that comes with modding improvements or when the new content has a lot of consideration towards mod additions of the same kind. I’m always so happy knowing one thing is now handled without going trough obscure methods, potentially self updating and tend to conflict less with other mods while keeping as many old ones working. I see the effort so I'm appreciative of it.

There’s still a lot I'd wish for so hopefully those keep rolling

Not counting character reworks, my favorite update would probably go to Curse of Moon Quay- this entire update felt like a personal wishlist of things I’d been wanting for years-

Pirate Hats, Pirate Swords, Sandy Beach Turf, PalmTrees, Actual BRIDGES instead of those hideously ugly boat platforms, & a Secret playable character unlocked through Gameplay. Throw in the things I DIDNT ask for like the Protective Shell Bumpers, and Boat Canons & you can easily see how this is a landslide victory for My personal favorite update.

My second favorite update however was the very first Turn of Tides update, it added boats, a sailable ocean and the entire Lunar Island to experience new mobs and content on. Plus- Carrat & Saladmanders are just the cutest!

I miss you iino, the kids don't stop asking about you.

Also, Maxwell refresh has been the most relevant and enjoyable for me since Wes's, the new crafting ui was confusing at the beginning but it's enjoyable now and I love everything ocean related and hope for more to come. The Terraria crossover is fun too.

favorite update memory wise was wendy's refresh, because it was the first character added to dst when i first got into it. i was really excited about it. had a little group of 3 on steam i used to play with all the time, and we made a world where we all played as wendy and just messed around for the game year.
